Very noisy here today, we are having two very large conifer trees removed as the roots are lifting our tarmac drive, they are also cutting all the hedges. I pushed Sil to get someone to cut the hedges as he has had a bad elbow for some time. He didn't like to give in but the tree surgeon asked if we wanted anything else done and gave us a good quote for the hedges so I am very pleased to get them done. GD2 is home for a few days, she brought a pair of jeans she wanted me to shorten, I hate altering jeans but she is worth it.

Oma, my cushions could do with plumping up.

The weather is perfect here, hope it stays fine.

Good Morning all. Hope everyone is well.

        Sunny here but very windy.

I went for an hour’s walk after picking up a paper from the local shop. It was one of OH’s and my favourite walks.Felt rather sad. I listen to the radio on these walks to try to take my mind from thinking too much!

Not a lot happening in this neck of the woods. I must do an on- line order for Tuesday.

Still not a lot of progress on my new roof. It was supposed to be started last Monday but due to terrible weather the scaffolding didn’t go up until Monday afternoon. Then the Project Manager (how posh is that to have a PM 😀) said they need at least two consecutive days of no rain to be able to start😧.That’s asking something in this part of the world at this time of year! Anyway the tiles and miscellaneous stuff have been delivered so according to the forecast from Tuesday onwards there might be a suitable slot. I’m glad they’re being responsible and careful where some builders might not be but it’s still frustrating.

I’m getting a case of cabin fever as I haven’t been anywhere or been able to have anyone in for coffee for weeks now. I really envy those of you who have family really near. Although DS1 lives half an hour away he doesn’t drive and his partner doesn’t do much for her own Mum so I’m not a priority 🙁

Sorry to moan but I know you don’t mind😀Thanks for being there x

Dear Clover how I understand the "cabin fever" feeling my 3 are all at work all week and I can only see them when they have an hour or two to spare between looking after their own families,I do have my youngest Grandson call in every so often into the back garden to tidy weeds etc he is such a thoughtful boy.
I have spent this last week looking for a little car for myself at least then I could go out on my own and not use buses etc if I want a change of scene, the biggest problem has been sorcing quotes for insurance as I was only a named driver on my lovely Johns insurance and I just didn't realise how expensive the insurance is but I think I have found a reasonable Company in "Sheilas Wheels" a Company for women drivers they had the best quotes for what I am looking for,I just have to find a car
The weather is a bit hit and miss today so need my big coat to go and get weekend shopping after that I have a wee bit of ironing to do or I could change my mind on that little idea.
          Keep Calm,You're Fabulous

Clover it can be so boring and lonely cant it , my MIL is always saying the same , although she does have her DD across the road who pops in every morning but she finds the long dark nights the worse,

The roof will be done by Christmas im sure , there has to be a few days of good weather .
It could be worse they could have taken the tiles off and just left you with waterproof covering

Just had a quick visit from DD GS1 and Dog ,
DD hasnt been over for about 2 weeks due to a cold and then SIL thinking he had Covid

Lovely to see them but had to clean my Glass coffee and side tables , every time Storm comes he either sneezes on them or licks them
He did both today , i clean them with Vinegar i think he likes the taste . He is blowing his summer coat ready for his winter one so hairs everywhere you turn

Glamm its a mine field getting insurance but once you get your little car it will open up the world for you again .
Nice when our GS's still come and do stuff isnt it

Plant that's a big job , the people across the road had their hedges cut and a huge conifer taken down two weeks ago , was good watching the tree surgeon climbing up taking the top half off first , he had one of those shredding machines , noisy but made quick work of chopping everything up.
I bet it looks nice and tidy now .

Clover I think listening to the radio whist walking is a good idea. Over the years I have done some of my best thinking when out walking. When you want to avoid thinking, especially as in your situation walking where you walked with a loved one, something to distract you from thinking is good.
Good luck with car hunting Glamma. You will have more freedom and flexibility with your own wheels.
Oma, Storm knows you like cleaning, he's just giving you a reason to!
Are the trees down yet Plant?
I hope Mr Daisy is having a nice day

DD arrived to collect GS about 11.30 and we had a cuppa and chat as GS continued playing.
This afternoon we went over to the friends with the hot tub. Despite a fine forecast it rained, and got heavier and heavier! Too wet for emptying and putting away.
We just had a cup of tea and chat then came home. They and we are free tomorrow, so we will try again in the morning.

I have placed a Sainsbury's order for Monday. I already had a Tesco one for the following week, the earliest I could get. With stricter local lockdowns on the cards, slots will fill up and we need things, so I have booked this earlier one. In some ways I prefer Sainsbury's, but I find Tesco do much better than Sainsbury's on the substitutions front.

The tree surgeon and his employees did our two big conifers and the hedges, they picked up more jobs whilst they were here, two neighbours asked them to do some work for them. Good job we have a big drive to accommodate all their vehicles. We will pay attention to the tarmac next Spring and tidy up the front.

Daisy, can you tell me more about Lola, I keep seeing stories about her and your comments.

Oma, you will have to clean your glass table with something Storm doesn't like.

Sorry Nanto, I pressed your edit instead of mine.

Good afternoon. Lovely day here today and it’s really sunny now.

Ive had an industrious weekend sorting out wardrobes after feeling it was the right time to sort DHs clothes out. The Salvation Army lady is coming round to collect some and DDs friend is involved in a charity who send things to the Syrian refugees. So everything is going where it is needed, P would be so happy. I have kept a few things but the time was right.

Otherwise a quiet weekend, more sock knitting for DGD and thinking about my next project. I also aim to get back to my family history at some point, I must make a list of things to do.

Glam, I was a named driver on P’s car insurance and when I changed it over recently they gave me a very good deal. His no claims bonus was transferred to me and it only cost £10 more. Have you asked your previous car insurers?

Enfys the Company my John was with have done the same thing for me I was a named driver on his insurance and they have sent me the 5yrs NCs bonus that I had on his policy so that has made a nice difference.
I have decided on a second hand Volkswagon Polo nice and nippy full service history and only 50K on the clock it is 15yrs old but looks show room condition as only used as a second car got a really good quote for insurance just over £300 so not bad considering some wanted more than double that amount,I don't know who makes up the quotes they must hope people don't shop about and accept the first quote they get !! I feel as though I have got my freedom back somewhat.

Wow - a lot to catch up on. I've read all your posts, but forgive me for not commenting on them all tonight. I've been feeling under the weather all day, but had lots to do. All I felt like doing was going back to bed! My friend M called round to say happy birthday to OH and she said she felt exactly the same - we were both at the same friend's house for dinner last night. We came to the conclusion we ate far too much. Our hosts are very generous and Mrs Host had gone to a lot of trouble to make a lovely meal for my OH, but neither M nor I could remember the last time we ate a 3-course meal! But I have made a joint birthday and anniversary cake for OH and DS2 and DIL2, plus some chocolate cup cakes for GCs. I'll have to get up early tomorrow and prepare food for whoever comes tomorrow at whatever time!

Plant - I'll do a thread about Lola.

Good morning, a lot to catch up on, I got the plan in my head yesterday to decorate the toilet!! First the plan was to just paint the walls but now decided to do the door etc. I went to the DIY place in next village and of course it decided to rain.

Glamm, your car will be so handy for you, I don't use mine much at the moment but it is always there. I can't compare insurance's but I have a "Bundels" one, only changed to it this year, I buy bundles of 1000km in and they cost me €50 a bundle, I have only had to buy 2 upto now so should get through the year with 3 and that will be €150. Which is less than half of the one I had.

Daisy, poor you not feeling well, I hope you feel better today to celebrate your hubby's birthday.

Enfys, you have done well sorting the clothes out.

Oma, I had a dog and at the time a glass topped table, I was always cleaning it!

DS2 and partner ate here on Friday, she admired my Kitchen Aid so I was telling her about the older one and that it was too big for me, she took it home and was so pleased with it, I got a message last night telling me all she had made using it!
