Morning Nanto , hope you find in laws well ,

We were in Asda at 7.30 this morning , managed to get chicken and Mince , wish we had a real butcher but none for miles up here ,

Shelves still mostly empty , got a few bits as didn't need much then went to Wliko for them opening at 8 ,
Wanted to get some Antibac wipes for my friend Dorothy she cant find any , we were there the other day and they had shelves full today not one pk , so I then went hunting around Asda Sainsburys and all the £ shops none to be had ,

DD said the small shop beside her has them so she will pop in before work and get some for her .

If I had known I would have bought some for her when they had them in , never mind if I see any I will get them for her ,

My DD made her own she had some baby wipes made a diluted Dettol mix and poured it over them let it soak in and is using them ,

When will this madness end ,

I feel sorry for people with children on low incomes , they cant bulk buy and greedy people are making it hard for them , this morning in Asda a woman had about 12 loafs of bread in her trolley , I do hope she was shopping for her elderly neighbours otherwise where was she going to put all that bread she would need a large chest freezer .

Good morning. DD has just done my shopping for me. She went to our local Tesco at 8, they open at 6 and the staff said people were queuing outside before they opened. There was no bread, just one nimble, very little veg, couldn’t get flour, pasta but she managed to get everything else. I didn’t need a great deal just fresh stuff, milk and eggs. We are fully stocked now, freezer is full so we will OK.

poor SIL is very worried about his job. They have lost so much money, as they can’t get parts or new stock. He works in a Motor cycle shop, and is in charge of parts and clothing. They are both really worried. I think a lot of people will be in the same position. Oh dear ☹️

        Good morning ladies.
        Very wet here.

        Nice menu Nan2.
Oma, it is madness, although I know it is bringing out the best in some people, it seems to me it is bringing out the worst in far more
Enfys, the sad thing in no one needs to queue for stores opening. Stocks are delivered all the time, and if everyone shopped as they always did, there would be no shortages. It seems to be the same all over the world. Certainly in Australia and the USA. I'm glad your DD got what you needed.

My friend T and I are meeting for lunch. She is still not fully back at work since her knee op in October. It's not the weather to eat outside, but we have chosen a tea rooms in a furniture store, which is not closed in in any way as a small cafe woud be. I will phone this morning to check it is open. If not we will meet in one of our homes I think.

        Have a good day everyone.

Good morning early birds and all who follow.

Nanto - your tasty menus always make me feel hungry. At this rate I'll have to start eating breakfast, but it's great for making me think about what we're going to eat - I'm not good a planning meals.

Oma - It's amazing how things just disappear off shelves. I can understand people needing to keep a few bits and pieces in in case they can't get out at some point, but a trolley full of bread is ridiculous unless it was going to a food bank! The baby wipes and Dettol is a good idea! You and your DD are very kind, looking after Dorothy, and I'm sure she really appreciates it.

We were woken at silly o'clock (for us) by the b****y Amazon scam call again! And a second one an hour later. So much for hoping for a lie in today! But it's nice and dry, so I'll get a shower and get out in the greenhouse. Lots to do there.

          Stay safe everyone. xx

Enfys and Gem - you both posted while I was typing.

Enfys - I'm glad you managed to get most of what you need for now. I read somewhere that the controls on night time deliveries to supermarkets are being relaxed so they can get deliveries any time, rather than during the day-time. Hopefully that should ease things a bit, and several of the supermarkets are taking on extra delivery drivers for online shoppers.

Gem - things look/feel worse when it's raining, don't they. I'm very impressed with how the younger people in our immediate area have got themselves organised to help those who can't go out, especially those who don't have computers or even mobile phones. It's the good side of human nature, but sadly there will always be the 'others'.

I hope you manage to meet up with your friend for lunch. How is her knee?

One of OH's friends from golf is in Portugal with her OH for a golfing holiday. Supposed to come back on Thursday but now flying on Sunday. Jet2 are flying empty planes out to bring home stranded passengers. Portugal is lovely, but I wouldn't want to be stranded or locked in away from home.

Daisy, T's knee is still not right. I mentioned this when I went about my knee and the Dr said she would strongly recommend my friend to ask for more physio. She did also say it can take a year, and for some knee stiffness never goes.
              Have fun in the greenhouse.

Oma and Gemini, should you be going to visit shops and cafes, I thought we were supposed to be isolating ourselves. You take care.

Hope you find the in-laws well Nanto.

Enfys, good to know you have your DD to see you have what you need.

Plant, I am trying to do as little shopping as possible but as I have my mum to look after as well so it's not easy.
Oma and I are under 70, so not in the isolating group, but of course we do have to be careful.
My friend (65 like me) has a hair appointment in town after our lunch, so they must be staying open.

We have been busy this morning cooking for the freezer , so far between us ( and yes im in the kitchen )
We have made 3 tubs of Chicken Curry , 3 meat loaves , 2 Chocolate Brioche puddings and after lunch we will make some shepherds pies ,
If nothing else staying in has gave us the push to batch cook

I made some marmalade yesterday from frozen Seville oranges I froze in January. Im going to make a cake shortly but noticed I’m out of caster sugar so will make a fruit cake instead. I logged on to my Waitrose order to add the sugar and 14 of my items previously ordered were out of stock! Strong flour and dried yeast among them. I always make my own bread so fortunately I do have some yeast but it won’t last me long. Hopefully people will stop panic buying soon!

Morning just! Although it probably won't be by the time I post. (Oops, there you go.🤭).

I do wish people would be more sensible. Watching the local news last night, a couple were interviewed, in their late 70's, & were asked why they were still out in public. Their reply.... "No-one's going to tell us what to do at our age!" Lordy, lordy.

I'm glad we're all staying calm. Our own little Happy Place.😘

Nana, this is the best place to be.

My sister in law went to the top four supermarkets and said the shelves were empty in each one.
Just heard on the news that supermarkets are going to limit staple products.

I went to the Lidl this morning, the cashier said they had got toilet paper in yesterday, she said it was a mad house!!! They must have had a Whatsapp group, Where is there any toilet paper left???????

I went to our local Turkish shop, been fancying a roasted chicked since someone mentioned this on here last week, no-where could I find a chicken, I did this morning in the Turkish shop, they have plenty of everything in stock, even the toilet rolls.

Just made a few buns to cheer me up and warm the oven up for the chicken.
