DS2 just cancelled. they have both got up this morning with sore throats.
They didn't want to risk us getting anything from them, and passing it on to Mam and Dad.

    More flowers.

Oh, what a disappointment for you both, best to be safe, Nanto. Three lots of flowers today, very cheerful.

GD3 and her partner are looking after her partner's GM this week, his family are away. Then they are off to Cornwall for a weeks holiday but I hope to make use of her for shopping when they get back. As they work in a shop they are exposed to the virus and they don't wear masks and gloves, so I must distance myself from them. I can't imagine not having contact with my DD and SIL next door. DD not happy that they are closing the schools, she said she preferred going to work than sitting at home listening to the latest figures. GD2 and her partner are staying in London waiting for a lock-down. GS2 is also staying in London and still has patients needing physio. Still don't know what is happening for GGS's birthday on Sunday, party definitely off.

I’ve just phoned our doctors to enquire about DH having his hormone therapy injection, as I was concerned about him going to the surgery. Our doctors have two surgeries, the main one and a branch. They are keeping the main surgery for unwell people, and all treatments, injections, anything to do with auto immune, will be dealt with by dedicated staff at the branch surgery. So I feel reassured as she said it was important for him to have his treatment.

They are also doing telephone appointments before people come into the surgery to try and keep the infection level down, although they are still getting people popping in, coughing and spluttering. It seems some people just aren’t getting the message! 😡

A pity DS1 and partner couldn't come for dinner,it was lovely.
Even hubby sais it was,and roast dinners aren't his favourite.
I made extra roast potatoes for the freezer.

Sounds lovely Nanto but your meals always sound and taste good.

                    I love roasts Nan2.

I had a text from DD1 this morning saying she had left my Mother's Day gift on the doorstep. On the family What's App group later she said she was in tears to come and not see me
I hope we can see each other soon.

I gave my Mum her Mothers Day present today because I wanted to explain the touch lamp to her. She never saves any presents until the days anyway, so I know she would have opened it as soon as I had gone She loves it!

Veggie pasta bake and apple crumble with custard or creme fraiche when DD2 and SIL come tonight.

Went to hospital for OH's eye appointment this morning. Much quieter than usual! Stopped at entrance to have temperature taken and use hand sanitiser. Treatment all done and hopefully he can go back in 3-4 weeks for check up. Who knows what will be happening then. He's also got a CLL check up about then too, but the receptionist told us that the consultant's will be deciding who needs to come into hospital for a check up and who can be done over the phone.

Went to Waitrose after for their fizzy water ( it's all OH drinks!) and there were no potatoes, chicken or mince. Got some meat from butcher's counter to put in freezer. No Ribena! There was pasta and some packets of rice and I did hear a bit of a shouting going on at the freezers, but don't know what it was about. OH said he'd heard a couple effing and blinding about something one of them had left behind. OH was in car having decided that he won't go into shops anymore. Lots of wine being bought too!

Hope everyone is well and coping with the situation.....not that there's much we can do about it!

Have a good evening ladies xx

I had emails from the CEO of both Sainsbury and Tesco last night. Both saying that items were going to be limited to 3 per item for each customer, and an hour set aside some days a week for older and vulnerable people to shop. Starting today. Both excellent ideas. I was in our local Sainsbury's this morning to get a few things for my mum, and there were lots of shortages. I am hoping things will improve from now on though.

WG I suspect wine and chocolate are the way to go if all else fails! The roads were a lot quieter driving hoem for my mjumsl than is

I love trifle too Oma. We will be having custard, but DD and SIL are healthy veggie types and may well prefer the creme fraiche. If not we will use it up in cooking.

I am rather too late today to say 'good morning' and even 'good afternoon'. I was just about to post on Chat this morning when the phone rang, and never managed to get back here. At this rate being bored at home might be quite attractive.

Gem I've also had an email from Waitrose saying their coffee shops etc will be closed and saying there will be early bird shopping for us old crumblies (not you - you're a spring chicken! xx) Everything seems to be changing so fast I don't feel I'm quite keeping up. Oh, your poor DD. It's so hard. I felt quite emotional after a Face Time with our GDs last night.

WeeGranny - I'm so glad your OH's eye appointment went ahead as planned. Hopefully my OH's will on Monday. How is your OH feeling? Ok I hope.

Not wishing to stockpile when we shopped on Sunday, we didn't buy wine. I'm beginning to think that was a mistake.

Oma - your SIL was being sensible, I think. The less contact you have even with family at the moment the better. Having said that, having Storm sometimes will be good for him (I'm sure he won't get as much chance to doggy socialise as usual) and good for you and B. We've arranged with DS2 to swap dogs once or twice a week. We can easily do this without contact by just loading the appropriate dog into the boot of the car! So both Cooper and Eva will have a day out and two days with each other. Cooper is already confused about the changes to his routine. Eva's never had a strict routine so she's more chilled.

You're certainly cracking through the jobs, but don't overdo it with the decorating. You've got plenty of time and it won't do you any good to get over-tired, love.

Enfys - your surgery sounds very well-organised. Thank goodness. That must be reassuring for you and P. xx

Plant - you're sounding sad. It's hard when you're so close but so far, but this will pass and it's much better to be safe than sorry. Sending hugs. xxx

Nanto - I'm sorry your plans didn't work out, but again, better safe than sorry at the moment. Thank you for all the lovely flowers today - they really do lift the spirits.

It's been a dull, dreary and damp day here, so we decided to make a start on the loft. Oh, my goodness!! I think we'll have to self-isolate for a lot longer than 3 months if we're going to get the job finished! We did about an hour and a half - we both get bored easily - but found a few 'treasures' - a telescope which belonged to one of our sons - perfect timing for the GDs to have a look at the night sky etc and various other bits and pieces like a book on making all sorts of different cats' cradles! And this is spooky - a few days ago thinking about doing some drawing, I remembered a book I'd loved in my teens called "I wish I could draw", and wished I'd still got it because it set out really sensible exercises and techniques. Well, I found it today! The dust cover is a little tattered, but otherwise it's in good condition. I'm off to sharpen my pencils after dinner.

How exciting your trip to the loft Daisy. I am sure the GC will enjoy the telescope and the cats cradle book. Good idea to swap the dogs. They will miss each other.

Did some nice messaging with GD2 and GS3 this afternoon, they were both contacting me at the same time. GS3 was in his brother's car coming back from Birmingham and GD2 was asking me for suggestions of what plants to put in her window box. We agreed pansies would be nice so she and her partner went to a garden centre and bought some and sent me a picture. GD2 is so sweet, she suggested we had a skype chat every weekend.

Plant, thank you for the compliment about my meals.

Gem, i had those emails as well.

I don't think we are going to bother with the supermarket this week.
We will only need milk, and i can get that from the shop where the post office is.
