I haven't tried that with the coffee grounds Mimi
When my envelope arrived yesterday DD was here, dropping GS off and staying for a cuppa. We were talking in the kitchen as I made the drinks. I heard the post and went for it. I saw the envelope, hid it amongst the other envelopes, put it all aside and kept chatting to DD as I made tea, but I was so distracted it was hard to chat! DD didn't know I had had the mammogram so was awaiting results. I tell them when I get the results but not before.
We took our drinks through and I popped back to the kitchen for something, found the envelope and tore it open! Your eyes don't focus at these times do they, but the words Pleased to Report, and No abnormality detected, hit home

Oh Gem, your heart must have been beating nineteen to the dozen knowing that envelope was there, waiting for you to open it. Yes, I agree, your eyes do a mega-quick scan and pick out the important words, thankfully, "pleased to report" and "no abnormalities".

Mimi - I can just picture the weariness on "mummy's" face, poor lady. I hope she got the drawers assembled ok in the end.

I'm not a lover of steak, nor any other meat really, but I'll aways go for the fish option, and I think OH might enjoy Miller and Carter.

My itch to do some gardening has gone unscratched today. The frost has just about gone, but so has my get up and go! A bit of washing and a quick dust upstairs will do for today.

Plant - I hope your SIL's mother is ok and getting on well with her carer. I'm sure she'll be pleased to have a chat.

Qwerty - have you had a good lunch?

I'm wondering how Clover and WG are, too. And Glamm. I think you're in a kind of limbo of disbelief when a loved one passes away, but somehow you think the funeral will help, but I don't think that's the case really. I suppose we all react differently. Sending hugs to Glamm, and to WG and Clover, who must both be feeling very low. xxx

It was frosty here too Daisy but later beautifully sunny.
We went to John Lewis, Next and M&S on a fruitless search for the sort of Sloggi bra tops OH wears. I think she needs to look online and Click and Collect from JL.
Not a wasted journey as we bought all the January birthday cards (5 between now and the end of the month!) and had lunch in M&S

Snap I went to John Lewis today for a nosey but didn’t buy anything .
We met Richard and I’m pleased to say he’s met someone his words , he wants to take it slowly as does this lady , it’s early days as he’s only known her 2 months but they have a lot in common she is the same age as him and is also a widow very sad, she has a 7 yr old Dd too I’m very happy for him and he is talking about selling the house and buying an apartment and a fresh start, he seemed a different person , we met in Leeds at 11 this morning so had brunch it was lovely . My friend has a Dd living in my village so she caught the bus home with me which was nice to have someone to come home with and she was calling at her Dds then she gets off the stop before me .
Talking of missing people Avo hasn’t been on since Xmas day does anyone see her on FB ?
Daisy I always think that the real grieving doesn’t happen till after the funeral as it really feels more final then and people whether we like it or not tend to stop visiting as often as they did before the funeral .
I thought we were going to Ilkley tomorrow but it seems it’s Skipton I don’t mind I will be sat in a comfortable seat with eldest g/d for company 😆
I’ve tried backtracking to read other posts but it won’t let me so sorry if someone had something I should know about it just says working been like it for 10 mins so I will close now , I might lose this post it won’t let me press post 😥

Yes Daisy my got and go disappeared too. Went in next door to see Sil's mother, she has been in bed again with a chest infection so the carer was very handy. There isn't a lot that the carer needs to do for Mil as she can get in the bath with an aid so it has been quite an easy week for her. GS1 his wife and children were there, very energetic nearly 3 year old and one very smiley placid 5 month old.

I can just imagine how you felt opening that letter Gemini, you just pick out the important words.

I have seen Avo on FB I'm sure Qwerty. She is one of the ladies who has gaps between visits.
How lovely that Richard has met someone. I'm sure your lovely friend would not wish him to spend the rest of his life alone if she couldn't be with him.

Qwerty, hope things go well for Richard.

Oma, pleased you managed a bit of sleep last night.

Talking of steak, i don't buy it often, not hubby's favourite but i love it.
When i was stocking up at the butchers hubby remarked how nice it looked. So i bought some.
Not sure when we will have it.Might put it in the freezer. Forgot to get any gammon though.

Had plenty of sunshine today, but been very cold.

I'm another one wondering how Clover and WG are.

Yes Avo been on FB quite a bit Qwerty
Good to hear Richard has found a lady . He's a young man still and can't live his life alone . I'm sure him and Claire spoke about this before she died bless them

Plant that baby is adorable she is a smiler isn't she

I agree Daisy the Funeral is the start of grieving I think , until then your sort of in Limbo .

Managed a Nana nap this afternoon just waking up when our SIL popped in needed some advice from B about his van .

We have Storm tomorrow as GS1 has a match away so they leaving at 8am not get back till Tea time .

Gem how did the swimming lesson go ?

Plant - I'm sorry your SIL's mum has had another chest infection. It was a good job she had a carer. Your little GGD is beautiful - what a happy little soul she is. I hope you got lots of cuddles.

Qwerty - you must be pleased Richard's life is moving on in a positive way. It sounds as though he has come through the darkest part of grieving for Claire. There's no road map for it is there - but I'm sure Claire would be happy for him.

Oma - glad you managed a Nana nap today. How lovely, an extra Storm day.

I've seen Avo on FB, too. I hope she pops in soon to say hello. I wondered if they'd escaped the winter for some sunshine in Portugal.

Gem - quite a productive day, even though OH didn't get what she wanted.

Nanto - how will you have that steak?

We had been invited to a party tonight - a neighbour's 50th (so young!!!) but OH was sick in the night and isn't feeling great - not ideal for a noisy party. I've just got back from walking Eva round the block and by gum, it's chilly! Eva doesn't seem to mind.

There's no point in making any plans for tomorrow until we see how OH is. Hopefully he'll be ok.

                    Night, night, everyone. xx

                      Cold but dry here.

Daisy,we don't like steak too rare. Hubby prefers it fried to grilled. Probably cook it about 3 minutes each side. Depending how thick it is.
Still got the meat to sort for freezing,so that's my first job after breakfast.

Have a good day ladies, whatever you are doing.

Good morning all. Very frosty here but sunny.

Opticians went well, no change so no new glasses. I’m pleased as I really like my glasses, they are so comfortable and that’s saved me a few ££££. Also had the test where they photograph the back of your eye as I had the start of macular degeneration but there was no change there either, so I’m very pleased.

No plans today, but I might try and have a walk later. It was lovely yesterday walking across the park to get to the optician. Took me ages to get home as I bumped into a friend I hadn’t seen for ages and we spent a long time chatting, P thought I’d got lost 😀.

Hope J is better this morning Daisy.

Have a good day everyone 🌞

                            Good morning my dears.
Such a frosty one here. Time ran away with us last night and it was 1 am when we left our friends house. It was very cold and we had to wait for the windscreen to defrost before we could drive. Only a 2 minute drive so we were soon home and warm again.

Daisy, poor OH I hope he feels much better today.
Thanks Oma. We'll have a look. Because of her reconstruction scar she prefers those softer pull on bras for most of the time.
                            That dog is spoiled
Nan2, sometimes I long for a steak, just a teeny tiny one! It's just not worth it for the pain though.

                            Happy Sunday everyone.
There are a few absent posters just now for various reasons. Hopefully they will be back posting soon

Good morning on this sunny Sunday. Everywhere is white with frost here - but so good to see the sun.

Nanto - I never know how to cook steak. I usually grill it but it's often very chewy! Gem, what a pity if you fancy it but can't eat it.

Oma, Enfys and Gem - thank for asking about J. He's looking a bit better this morning although he says he's not 100%, but, bless him he's going to do the shopping this morning.

Enfys - that was a nice surprise not having to spend a small fortune at the opticians. Also good to know there was no change in the AMD condition. It's lovely to run into old friends like that. Enjoy your walk today.

Gem - what a lovely evening you must have had. I'm impatient and hate waiting for the windscreen to defrost, but it has to be done.

Oma - what a spoiled dog Storm is. Eva's not spoiled at all - she only had meaty ox chunks for breakfast, and will have an egg or yoghurt later on. She's got a duck carcass for dinner tonight. Really hard done by! I hope GS1's team win their match.

I'm not sure what to do today. I have to prep some food for Eva for the coming week, and there is a pile of crumpled things that need the hot hissy thing, but I'm sure I can find something else to do instead!

Gem - it's lovely that members miss and ask about people if they're not posting for a while - I was thinking about Libra this morning - we all look out for each other which is brilliant.
