Afternoon all from a wet Wales with sunny intervals!

Lizzie I’m glad you enjoyed your Dec 5 th celebrations.

Qwerty what a shame about the lost hat. So annoying.

Daisy ,hope you’re enjoying lunch. Thanks for asking about my visit to the doc.Not a lot to be said really. She was very sympathetic but couldn’t do much apart from tweaking my anti-deps.and suggesting I join a club! That’s not really an option as our village is small and the main hall for meetings etc. is a mile away along twisty unlit lanes.I know it’s wimpy but I just couldn’t walk into an established group on my own anyway. I go to Pilates in a hall attached to the school.

I’ve done my cards and made my Christmas cake so must get on with present wrapping.

Enjoy the rest of your day.

Clover, hope the tweaked meds help you.
I know what you mean about going into an established group on your own.
      I'm sure i wouldn't do it either.

      Daisy,hope lunch went well.

I've had an easier day. Came home from in laws and sat down with a coffee.
      Dinner was fish and chips.
I've had a shower with mint shower gel,and i feel all refreshed and rejuveinated.

Been out to deliver cards around the doors. It's blowing a gale. Noticed my Neighbors lights are on she must be out of Hospital for the day. Saw her Mam arrive earlier but didn't notice her in the car. Hopefully her meds are on track again.

Haven't been able to get on before now, nurse appt early for an injection for my bones and then went on to meet up with Dil for lunch and shop at JL.

Clover, I am sorry the doctor was unable to help much, hope the tweeked meds help. What a shame your village is a bit cut off. Are you going to your DD's family for Christmas?

Qwerty, your family are certainly making use of you now you are back. When are you going to escape to Spain again?

Daisy hope the lunch and hopefully the view was good. Is Eva happy to be left alone?

Pouring down now and blowing a gale!

Went out this morning for a bit of shopping accompanied by OH. He suggested we go and get my Christmas present and, as I'm still waiting for a Birthday present, I jumped at the offer!! So we did Waitrose and spent far too much and then went to the nearby garden centre where we eventually found what we were looking for! I'm now pretending I don't know what it is so it'll be a surprise when I open it!

Don't know if it's the fact that he's not taking his meds at the moment, but he seems a lot happier in himself. Memory still not good and things may change over the coming days, but....

Lizzie, we loved 5th December when we lived in Holland. Our local Rotary club organised visits from SInt and his Piets and it was fantastic when he knocked on the door and came in with his big red book and sat and chatted to the children. Magical! One year DS was being a little s** in the run up to the 5th and he didn't get anything in his shoe one morning while his DS did. His behaviour changed instantly!! OH's company organised a big party in Amsterdam and we watched the parade. The Sint arrived by helicopter in our village!

Qwerty, I did a wreath making class last week too. More traditional than your DD's though. I've put it as my avatar on FB but will try and put it on here too.

Hope nobody gets blown away tonight xx

Golly, I'm away from here for just over 12 hours and there's so much to catch up on.

Gem - happy cake making over the week-end. Do you feed them with brandy afterwards?

Oma - if your neighbour is home, I hope she's taking her meds and is ok. Hotel Chocolat - yummy. On Wednesday when it was bitterly cold I made a mug of cocoa - proper Bourneville cocoa, and it was really warming.

Mimi - did you get back to writing cards?

Qwerty - you've jumped back in to (or been pushed) full-on child care. But I'm sure you're delighted to spend time with them again, and I bet they missed you a lot. Your DD's wreath is lovely - clever girl. Is she going to make one for you as well?

Lizzie - I'm so glad you enjoyed your 5th December - it sounds as though it brought back happy memories for WG, too. Was the onion soup a Dutch recipe? It sounds perfect for a cold December evening. Wow, sending cards to everyone in your block of flats sounds a major undertaking. I think I'd rather just wish everyone Happy Christmas verbally when I saw them.

Enfys - I hope you enjoyed your WI meeting. How did you get on at the osteopath? I hope it's helped. It's great when you find people who do a good job at a sensible price - glad you're pleased with the car repairs.

WeeGranny - we got talking about step ladders at lunch today (like you do!). A friend said they got a nice new one that was very steady. Then she found her OH just about to climb up the rickety old one (which he'd previously fallen off). She asked why, and he said it was wet outside and he didn't want to get the nice shiny new one dirty!! I'm glad your OH is feeling better in himself. I hope you've 'forgotten' what your Christmas present is so you can have a surprise on Christmas morning.

Clover - I'm glad your doctor was sympathetic - it means it will be a bit easier to go back to her if you need to, but hopefully tweaking your medication will help. It's not easy to get out in the winter when it goes dark so early and that road sounds a bit tricky.

Plant - you've had another busy day! Eva's ok to be left for about 4 hours (probably longer, but we don't risk it) but today my lovely friend M came over about mid-day, had lunch at ours to keep Eva company and then called back about 4 pm after her Friday Bridge session. So in fact she wasn't left for long and she loves M.

Ooops, I forgot to say about the Christmas lunch. We got there early so we could enjoy coffee and the sea view, but there had been a big wedding there yesterday and a lot of the guests were still there - occupying the corner we always hope to sit in. But we enjoyed out coffee and as various friends and ex-colleagues of OH arrived we were able to catch up with all their news, which was great. Some people you may not see from one year to the next but you can just pick up as though you'd seen them last week. There were several friends like that.

We were late going in for lunch, and then the organisers decided to have the speaker before we started lunch (it may be that the meal was late, but I don't know) and we were all starving by the time the first course arrived. The talk at these events always goes right over my head, and today was no different. My pet gripe at anything like this is speakers who won't use a microphone. We were at one end of a long, low room, and couldn't hear properly.

Lunch was very nice indeed. I had tian of shellfish for starters, the veggie main course, which was really tasty and cheese and biscuits. It was a struggle to make room for the lovely fresh mincepies that arrived with the coffee, but I managed! I don't think I'll be hungry again for a week.

OH was sitting next to a couple we didn't know - until he and the chap got talking and they realised they had worked together about 40 years ago! It's a small world.

                  Busy chat box 😊

I'm glad you had a happy December 5th Lizzie.
Clover it's not easy to join a new club on your own. It's not for everyone.
                  Lunch sounded worth the wait Daisy;
I hope you do a good job of being surprised when you see your present again on Christmas Day, WG 😁

We had a lovely day with GS2. Lots of farm play as usual, plus some Christmas colouring, stories and a trip to Pets at-home.
He was so good and happy all day, until he had to go home. He cries every week now saying he wants to stay with me or me come to his house. I said to DD after last week he can stay on Friday if we're not going out as far as I'm concerned. As she rightly said though we can't just let him do things because he cries for them! I'm sure it's a phase he will outgrow. He doesn't cry when he has to leave his other Grans or nursery, so we should be flattered!

Night all. Talk to you tomorrow.

Gem, GS2 loves the time he spends with you.

I think we are going to Pontefract today, for a change.

Qwerty has put a lovely picture on the advent calendar.
                    Looks all cosy.

Good morning, Nanto and all who pop in later.

Gem - it's lovely that your GS2 enjoys his time with you so much, but I think your DD's right - and he will get used to having a fun day with you and understanding that at the end of the day he goes home and there will always be the next time to look forward to. You're obviously doing a great Granny job.

Nanto - enjoy your shopping. When I hear "Pontefract" I always seem to add "cakes" in my head! I'm sure there is more there than those delicacies, but it's what comes to mind.

I've got quite a bit to do today, but the first job has to be defrosting the dog food freezer as the delivery is due today. I didn't get round to it when it was so cold the other day. I wonder why! So must get going. I'll be back later - with frozen fingers no doubt.

I hope you don't get frostbite Daisy!

Nan2 and Daisy, GS does enjoy being here 😊
This afternoon I am going to a Christmas show with DD2 and the children. Not sure what it is!DD is picking me up. SIL can't go now so I am having his ticket.
The rest of the day will be taken up with preparations for that fast approaching festive event!

                        Have a good Saturday.

Good morning all. Didn’t wake up until nearly 9, but I did have a broken nights sleep so not surprised really.

Our WI meeting was lovely, Christmas carols playing, we had a quiz then a ploughman’s lunch, all very jolly. They are a very friendly group.

My visit to the osteopath was OK, but I feel very tender this morning. He said my neck muscles were very tight, he was very gentle but even so, I really felt it. Hopefully it will help and he has given me some exercises to do at home. He also massaged my whole back which was lovely, so we shall see. I am taking it easy today, he said it could take 24 hours for the soreness to go.

Have a good day everyone 🌞

I’m feeling very lucky today. I am all packed up ready to go on a cruise round the Canary Islands tomorrow. For the last few years I have arranged a holiday for December to escape our chilly climate. It always sets me up for the winter. I’ve been running down my food cupboard for while I’m away, so today I have to go out for lunch with a friend, because I’ve got nothing in. Well that’s my excuse anyway! I’ll be back on 20th December.
