Well, the Aldi shop went ok. Only a couple of bits they didn’t have but otherwise got everything on my list. A bit cheaper too.

off to sit with Dexter for a couple of hours this afternoon, it’s bitterly cold so I don’t think I’ll be running round the garden with him today.

Oma, would your friends hubby be interesting in online courses. I e done a few with Future Learn, all free and organised by different universities, all sorts of subjects are covered and some really interesting subjects. All done at your own pace...just a thought.

I'm not a fan of Aldi, our one has very narrow aisles and it's quite dark. Last time I went in, the aisles were crowded and you couldn't see what was on the shelves. Everybody seemed to know where everything was too. I felt quite claustrophobic and left with just a few things in my trolley and did the rest of the shopping elsewhere. I'm sure I could save money by going there, but I'd rather not come out with raised blood pressure and have to go to another shop to get what I wanted.

Sun has come out again but it is definitely getting colder. Got the bulbs planted yesterday, so will need to wait until Spring to see if they'll grow. The ground was claggy, heavy clay, but it was fairly easy to turn over. That's it now in the garden. OH wants to give grass a final cut, but it's still too wet to do that.

I'm sure it will take some time for your friend to adjust to his new lifestyle Oma. We've talked about moving to a retirement complex, but the lack of space always put us off. I like the fact that we can get out of each other's way in the house and do our own thing, but you can't really do that in one of those apartments, nice though they are. Lack of outside space must be a downside especially if you were interested in the garden, or had a shed where you could do your own thing. Hope he settles soon.

Believe you can and you're halfway there.

        Cold but dry and sunny.

I'm not a fan of Aldi. There is a new Lidl opening nearby soon.
Hubby said we will give it a try. Told him he will be going on his own.

Gem, i went through in laws fridge this morning.
Had to throw out a few items. Last week my sister in law brought them some ready meals from M&S.
Thrown those out, past their date. They could have been frozen. Such a waste.

I've got chicken, leeks and mushrooms in the slow cooker.
Going to make some pies for the freezer tomorrow.

I hate that frozen mouth feeling Plant. I hope it wears off in time for your embroidery group.

We had a lovely time with my auntie, but were a bit delayed getting there. It is 20 miles away and takes half an hour or so. Unknown to us there was road resurfacing on the route requiring a lengthy detour! We got there in the end, had a cuppa at aunties then all walked to a cafe for lunch. Auntie leading the way with her walker, she did well! Her son has put some of her pictures up, her desk has arrived for the spare bedroom/study and the table for the hallway, so its looking more like home.

Gem, how lovely that your auntie is settling down and it sounds as though she's enjoying her new home. She really is amazing.

Plant - oh dear. I hope your mouth is 'thawing out' now and you can enjoy your evening at the embroidery group.

Nanto - what a shame about your in laws' meals. I hate to see food go to waste as well. I bet the aroma from your slow cooker is wonderful! I love chicken, leek and mushrooms.

We haven't got a convenient Aldi - although I'm sure there will be one eventually, and the nearest Liddl's is quite a small one with an impossibly over-crowded car park, so I don't often use either.

WeeGranny - we have to keep cutting our grass most of the winter. It's really long at the moment, but far too wet to cut. If we get a few dry days though I'll be able to give it a little trim.

Enfys, I remember you mentioning those online courses some time ago - they sound very interesting and might be just right for Oma's friend. I bet Dexter was quite happy to snuggle up indoors. It's been bitterly cold here as well.

My Monday morning routine is to leave the house at 8 am at the very latest to go and collect Cooper for the day. So today off I went - it's a 15-20 minute journey - and arrived to find GD1 in her PJs and onesie looking very pale and poorly. She's got the bug that both her mum and dad have had. Her dad's still not properly better, but he was going to work this morning. But they decided he would stay home and look after the poorly one as it wasn't fair to pass it on to me, and in any case, I had the dentist at 2 pm. So I went back home! Had the decision not to send her to school been made 10 minutes earlier I could have saved myself a journey. And if they'd told me last night I could have saved myself an early start on a dark, dismal day. Hey ho! I know it's hard to judge whether a child is fit for school or not, so not too worried.

The dentists usually runs like well-oiled clockwork, but today the dentist's wife was acting receptionist and the dentist had no nurse as her baby decided to arrive nearly 10 weeks early. Fortunately the little lad is ok, just very tiny. Anyway, I escaped with my usual "come back in 6 months" and the dentist telling me I'm very boring (it's a compliment) since I haven't had any treatment apart from the hygienist this century!

Back home, relaxing in a comfy chair I fell asleep. So just off now to prepare dinner - salmon with potatoes, carrots, cauliflower and broccoli. I might make parsley sauce if there's enough milk.

Daisy, what a shame that journey couldn't have been avoided. I hope the poorly ones are soon better.
You must have needed that sleep.

Daisy you could have had another hour , never mind you did get a snooze though

Gem pleased to hear Auntie settling in and getting about in her walker

Plant that numb feeling is horrible you try to drink but not sure your keeping it in your mouth

I think I have broken my little toe ,
I was standing on the work tops cleaning the top of kitchen cupboards , B guided me back onto the step ladders all ok till I stepped down turned around and kicked the open kitchen door , I now have a big bruise and a very stiff swollen toe , put ice on it and strapped it to my next toe , its sore but not as painful as I thought it would be, only painful to walk ,

Taking MIL out for tea tomorrow might have to wear flip flops if cant get shoes on

I think its lovely that you take her out to eat.

Daisy, hope the little one is better soon.
Pity you had a wasted journey though.

Oh dear Oma .We who are definitely not Bleach Babes always believed cleaning is bad for your health. Seriously though. I know when I whacked my bare toe on a cupboard how painful it is so I hope yours feels better soon.

Glad Plant and Daisy survived the dentist

Mimi thanks for the sponge suggestion. I already have a folded flannel in the container but a sponge would be better.

An hour’s ironing under my belt this afternoon.

Hope everyone has a good evening and a peaceful night.

Plant - I'm glad you found your slippers, we need to keep our tosies warm this chilly weather.

Oma - perhaps you should have been wearing steel toe-cap boots to clean your cupboards. I do hope your toe is ok.

Clover - all that sorting out this week-end and then today an hour's ironing. I hope that's reduced the pile to nothing - until the next wash day.

Nana - it's so frustrating when gadgets go wrong! I hope the spacebar is only a temporary fault. Did you manage to get what you wanted from Dunelm, and nothing else?

Mimi - how are your new saucepans? I hope you've made them welcome and found a nice cosy cupboard for them.

I've spent a lovely evening choosing books to put on my Kindle.

All quiet on the weather front for now.

Oma, B has my sympathy,i had leg cramps during the night.

Quite a few jobs to do today.
Making a few things for the freezer and a pile of ironing for starters.
Easy dinner today,we are having jacket potatoes.

Good morning, Nanto - what a lovely colourful graphic to start our Tuesdays. It's dry here but too early to tell whether it will be sunny or not. I hate these dark mornings.

I'm going to make a chicken casserole for today - not sure yet whether we'll have it at lunch-time or this evening. On Tuesdays it's usually easier for us to eat at lunch-time.

Oma - At least you were able to keep each other company and didn't have to worry about waking the other one up. I hope you both got some sleep eventually.

GD1 seems to be better so I'm off to collect Cooper after I've had a quick shower and then I'll pick the girls up this afternoon.

Have a good day one and all.

Good morning Nan2, Daisy and all who follow 😊

I would love that cute kitten on the graphic Nan2!
Have a good dog and GD day Daisy
Oma how is your poor toe this morning?
Good to hear the missing slippers turned up Plant, and weren't wet!

Early meeting for me this morning. After that I will do some shopping, go to the library bus , then to deliver a card for my mum's friends birthday tomorrow.

Golf for OH. Our kitchen floor is in desperate need of steaming so I must do that later.
I am going to Vue cinema with friends to a streaming of 42nd Street from Drury Lane. 6pm, a strange time so I will have to eat early.

                                Have a good day everyone.
