Oma - I'm so pleased to hear that Clare's dizziness has gone. Hopefully the headaches will disappear in time as well. I feel so sorry for her - it must have been a dreadful and frightening experience for her. xx

Plant - at least the tools have gone to good homes. I love carrot cake - and frosting! I'll put the recipe up for Matrimonial Cake later - I want to get on with gardening while it's still nice here. The recipe I used is much easier than some of the ones I've seen online.

Had another lovely surprise today ,
DD SIL GS1 & Storm walked over to see us . They sat on the drive and we brought garden chairs in and sat in the hall with door open and had a good chat . Storm had some cold water and a biscuit then layed down and went to sleep in the shade of the porch .

Good morning, the start of a new week.

I wonder what announcements Boris will have for us tonight.

Looking a bit overcast here and its cooler.
We had thunder and lightening last last night,it lasted for ½ an hour, but it didn't rain.

Oma, lovely to hear you had visitors yesterday. I bet it brightened your day.

Good morning Nan2, and Tigger and pals. Good day everyone who will pass through later

Oma, I think we will see more of these safe social distancing visits as lockdown continues. I bet Storm wondered why he wasn't coming in!

Nan2, is it this evening the announcement? The general thoughts seem to be that exercise more than once day will be allowed (I don't know who would have stuck to that anyway to be honest if they wanted to exercise twice a day) and maybe some more shops reopening. All I care about is legally and safely being able to see family. Who knows what he will be saying on that. I feel not much will change in the short term, but maybe a bit more information on when schools may reopen. I wait with interest.
I don't envy him to be honest. If he relaxes things too soon and we have massive rise in cases, he is wrong. If he keeps us all in this state, seeing no one, some being so isolated and lonely, businesses going to the wall, he is wrong.

Nothing planned today. Not a day for lazing in the garden, so I'm glad we did a lot of it over the last few days!
I need some ibs tablets which only Boots sell, so I may go to the big Boots store. I don't want to risk the small branch in the village, but a friend told me it feels very safe in the big one.

                Enjoy your Sunday ladies.

                  Morning ladies ,
what a change it's belted down here and quite breezy but not to cold yet .

Gem your right the man Is damned if he does and damned if he doesn't .
I think the bigger stores have better restrictions to the small stores Gem , the smaller stores are just letting people in regardless by what I have heard .

Done my ironing and put a white wash on then had a lovely hot shower , I feel aches and pains this morning , woke lying in a very awkward twisted pose , had to stretch a bit before I got out of bed

Got up during night don't put lights on opened kitchen door and jumped with fright .
I forgot the patio umbrella was out it's just outside the patio doors , it's Black and when it's down it looks like a Dementor from Harry Potter in the dark .
My heart raced for a few minutes

Unsure what delights we have today , if nothing else I can finish my book
I have found my ankles are swelling lately not walking around as much as I did
Have a good day ladies xx

Like you say, whatever he does will be wrong.
I wouldn't like to be him, beause at the end of the day,he is playing with peoples lives.

Loved the graphic Nanto, no storm for us but after a very hot day, I wouldn't have been surprised.

Lovely surprise Oma, to see the family and lovely Storm.

My GS1, and his family came to see us for about an hour in the afternoon yesterday. They sat on the grass and we sat on the terrace. GGS was so good, he had been told that he couldn't come near us and he didn't. He demonstrated his running skills and played rough games with his daddy, GGD lay on a rug and smiled. My DD was so worried that they were coming but our garden is so big there was no problem with keeping apart. GD1 and her partner brought me some shopping so I am stocked up again.

Poor Boris, the number of deaths is still too high for him to relax much.

Hope your aches clear Oma, I must drink more water today, had cramps in the night which kept me awake.

Good morning all. It's very dull here, I think it won't be long before it rains

Previously I haven't been a big fan of Boris but I think he is handling this situation the world finds itself in very well. After all each and everyone of us are learning as we go along. He can only go on advice given to him day by day and hopefully choose the right path to go down.
I think he has an impossible job to do .
You can be sure there will some people just waiting for him to fail .
I will be watching at 7pm . I personally don't want the lockdown to be eased too soon . I know myself and OH ( us oldies) and sheltered people will be on lockdown for some time to come but I worry about our younger members of our family, I don't want them having to be out and about too soon.

Oma for swollen ankles to are supposed to sit with your legs up higher than your heart . A dr told me this years ago . I could do that when I was younger but when I was younger I didn't need to do it !!
You did make me laugh with your morning encounter with Dementor.

Have a good day everyone, we are having chicken for lunch today, it's one of those cook in the bag malarkey.
                        Keep yourselves safe
Bring me sunshine in your smile.

My auntie phoned and we had a lovely chat
OH is in the dining room with a jigsaw, and I am going to do some drawing, and/or maybe rock painting.

OH Oma, how scary. I would have probably had a heart attack as I am reading HP and The Order of the Phoenix, and he has just battled Dementors in the street!!
Keep rotating your ankles (and feet above heart as Mimi says)

What a lovely visit that must have been Plant, and what good boy GGS is!

OH's turn to cook tonight, not sure what we will have.

Hello, everybody, including Tigger and Eeyore. Nanto - thank for giving us the time of Boris' announcement today - OH was searching for it.

I think one of the hard things about staying home if it carries on for much longer, is people looking after their own fitness levels. Several of us are creaking at the joints it seems (me included) and Oma, I'm concerned about your ankles. Do you think it's because of the warm weather? If they don't go down now its cooler I'd give the doctor a ring, just to check. xx I had to laugh about your close midnight encounter with the Dementor!!

Plant - how lovely to see GGS and GGD. What a good little boy, staying at a safe distance.

Gem - I agree - I just want to see my family for real. I can even manage without hugging them if I have to.

As others have said, Boris can't win. We're in uncharted territory and he just has to take the best advice available and make decisions with no guarantee they're the right ones. I would be very worried though if the children are going back to school any time soon. Apart from the obvious risks of infection, I think it would put an impossible burden on teachers, dinner ladies, playground assistants - everyone, plus parents having to take and fetch their children at the same time, and some of them will have toddlers and babies as well. I think the R rate is still at the top end of being less than 1 (if that makes sense) and it needs to be much lower for reasonable safety.

We've got a whole chicken for dinner - so I think it will be a roast for us today.
