I've given up on gardening today, Enfys. That's a cold wind howling round, but the sun's lovely, so I'm off to the summerhouse instead.

Enfys - I know you've done a lot of family history and I wonder if you fancy starting a thread (a bit like my greenhouse one) to explain more about it. It might be a really good time for any grans that want to at least do their immediate family trees - we're well placed to do two generations before us and two after, which will be really interesting for other family members (as well as us nosey grans, like me!) I always get side tracked as well, but I don't really know what I'm doing so some help would be much appreciated.

Plant - your sunroom always sounds so inviting. I can picture you there, relaxed and enjoying your knitting, listening to an audio book and glancing out at the garden every so often.

Gem - your tray sounds interesting. What are you doing - decoupage?

Oma - it's all go in the Oma home. I do hope the stairlift gets fitted, it will be such a help.

Yes Oma, the stairlift will be a great help.

No sunroom today, it has been too cold but you have described my time in there just right Daisy, the family know where to find me on a sunny day.

Have finally finished getting border ready for planting, but it's too cold now to do anything else so I'm in the warm and made us a bacon butty as we both deserved it! OH has been trimming edges and cutting back branches so he's back in the warm too. Daisy I've no idea what some of the shrubs are... I got them from an online garden centre and they were a special offer! I know there's Forsythia and Mock Orange, but not sure about the others. Thinking about getting a couple of obelisks to add more interest too.

DD has somehow managed to get me a Sainsburys slot....don't ask me how! It's in her name, so I'll need to send her my wants and my card details and she'll do the necessary! She's been doing fruit and veg shopping for a couple of her neighbours who're isolating this morning. We've got enough veg to last the duration I think. We got a box from the local veggie supplier. They supply restaurants etc so I suppose their customers are no more.

DS messaged me that a friend of his said her DB will bring us anything we need, which was a nice gesture. Our village has an aid page and when I wrote and thanked them on the FB page I had a lovely message from someone at the local children's nursery. If I needed nappies or baby food, just to get in touch!! Again a lovely gesture. Unlike our neighbours who can't even say Hello even when they're in the garden at the same time.

I'm thinking about restarting my family history again. trouble was I kept going from one side of the family to the other, so ended up in a right muddle! I did however find out that my paternal grandfather was one of ten.......and I knew nothing about any of them! my DB and I did find the family grave and where Great Grandad worked, but didn't get much further! My maternal side were all local and I knew a bit about them but again it'd be good to do a bit more digging.

Have a good evening ladies whatever you're up to x

Good evening ladies. Hope you are keeping well.

Oma,in laws had a stairlift fitted about 8 years ago. They think its one of the best things they have done.

This morning,we went to the Co-op, to drop a parcel off for Hermes.
Then went up the road to Lidl. just needed a few bits.
They didn't have any eggs though.
Called at the frozen food shop on the way back, and managed to get some.
Sounds daft, but it did make me happy.

Little things make us happy at the moment Nan2.
            Yes, it is decoupage Daisy.
I wasn't sure if hairdressers were open Enfys.
Our village had an aid page and band of volunteers WG. I restrained myself from doing my usual putting up and my hand and volunteering to help! I'm not so young and have enough to do shopping for and looking out for my mum.
I'm so glad you can still see your family Plant.
I'm so envious of my friend whose DD and toddler GS live with them. Although confined with a very noisy and active little boy, she may envy me

We had a good day, I will write in the What did you do today thread later
Just having a glass of wine, then dinner and TV. All our meals are running late today
Much colder, and rain on and off so we have stayed inside.

Gem - I look forward to seeing a photo of your tray when you've finished it. I'm glad you managed not to volunteer to help - you've got enough to do, including looking after your mum, and you don't want to put yourself at risk any more than strictly necessary. xx

Nanto - I think the supermarket shelves are improving but there do still seem to be some random gaps. My DIL2 couldn't get the very gentle washing liquid and conditioner they use (they've got problems with anything with perfume, and pretty much every product on the market irritates GD1's skin) from Morrisons, but I ordered some for her from Sainsbury's. It's just a matter of working out how to get it to her now! I'm sure she'll be over with some stuff for us in a few days, so it will have to wait.

Wee Granny - you've done a good job on your garden - I'm sure all the new plants will look great. What a shame your neighbours are so unfriendly - especially now, but your village is obviously pulling together. Wow, a Sainsbury's order and lots of lovely fresh fruit and veg. Now's a good time to go back to your family research. I started with my father's side because I knew something about them and the gift of an unusual surname! I've done very little on my mother's side - just finding my maternal grandparents' names wasn't easy. I must get back to it though. My goodness, a family of ten - I wouldn't know where to start.

Today has been a bit of a 'nothing' day. It was too windy to work on the garden. This afternoon I went into the summerhouse intending to sketch some ideas for a picture, but Eva came with me (OH was in his wood turning shed) and she wouldn't settle because of the wind, so I ended up coming back in and reading a few chapters of my book. A bit of a lazy day, and bed's calling, especially as we lose an hour's sleep tonight!

              Sleep well everyone. x

Good morning, chilly here so far.

Just had a message to say my Tesco delivery will be here between 1 & 2, I wonder what we will get? DD stayed up until after 12 and has managed to get another slop for 3 weeks, so between us we shall/3 fine. We are also getting things for our neighbour too so she will be pleased.

Daisy, yes I’ll start a genealogy thread and I’m happy to help anyone. Be warned, it can take over but is so interesting. I’ll gather my thoughts and put something together probably later in the day.

Our greenhouse blew over yesterday, the wind got up and although we had weighted it down with compost it still blew over ☹️. That’s the problem with these lightweight ones. So I have moved in into a corner in the conservatory until the weather really improves. I think things will do,better in there to start with too. It looks fine and better to work in there than outside in the cold wind. Can you tell I’m a fair weather gardener 😎

Good morning everyone. What a sweet graphic, Nanto, but that little kitty would get blown off the branch here this morning.

Enfys - it's ridiculous how excited we can get over a delivery slot, isn't it! Well done to your DD - perseverance has paid off. Thank you so much for saying you'll do a genealogy thread. I really need some tips to make progress with my family tree. Putting your greenhouse in the conservatory is a good idea for now. I'm a fair weather gardener too, much as I love it.

I'm afraid it's a housework day for me! It's getting dire in the Daisy domain!!

Take care ladies, and keep warm ad well as safe. xx

Good morning Nan2, Enfys, Daisy and everyone else.
Very wet outside but it's not raining now.

Enfys, I hope you get as much as possible on your delivery. I'm a fair weather gardener too, OH is more hardy.
I may do some housework upstairs Daisy, No excuse really!

I will finish my tray, then see what the day holds.
I am going to make shepherds pies. One or two for us, a small one to take to my mum tomorrow, and one to drop off at our friend's house. She is a sonographer at the hospital, scanning still has to go on. She and her OH live apart so the can't see her, or her elderly parents. A lonely life for her now, and we can't have her round for a meal but I can cook her one.

                      Take care everyone.

Good morning ladies from a very Wintery Washington .
Since about 5pm last night we have alternated between snow and hail . It's not lying but by gum it's cold out .

Just put a hot wash on with all my white towels bunged some soda crystals in with them for a whitening boost .

So little to do today that I stood in the shower for quite some time just letting the hot water ease my bones .
Didn't bother drying my hair just ran the comb through got downstairs and put my hand to my head to realise I hadn't rinsed the conditioner out .
I thought my hair felt a bit flat when I combed it .

Going to paint the woodwork up the edges of the stairs today ready for the stair lift .
It will make a big difference getting him up and down on his bad days . He still manages but it's getting harder as time goes by and as he has very little feeling in his left leg there is always the chance of him falling down stairs .

Hope everyone is o no poorly people .

Enfys that's what we found with our little greenhouse we pegged it down eventually but still had the odd time when the wind was wild and it managed to lift the pegs .

Have a good day ladies xxx

Had a call from JL yesterday saying they could't collect my old television now so it will have to sit in my garage for the duration, they promised to collect it when this is all over.
GD and her partner are back to work today so no contact can be made with them now, they are going to have their meal at work so my DD doesn't have to cook it. We shall have to wave to them across the garden. I wonder what the situation will be when they get in today.
I had an email from Waitrose saying that as I am over 70 they have put on some extra delivery slots for the over 70's. Well I don't know where they are as I can't find them. Will give them a ring today.
Sunny but very very windy and I suspect cold, haven't poked my nose out yet.

That stair lift will be a great help for B and you can send things up instead of carrying them. Good idea to paint the skirting before it is fitted.

That is kind of you Gemini I am sure your friend will appreciate the shepherds pie. Well done for sitting on your hands instead of offering you help .

Bitterly cold here today, thank goodness I finished my stint in the garden yesterday. I think the woodburner will be going on this afternoon, it's just the sort of day to sit in front of it with the Sunday papers.

Plant I keep hearing about all the extra slots being provided by supermarkets, but like you I've never found one!!

                                Keep warm and safe everyone!
