Good morning ladies.
It was a chilly start here as well, but it did look very pretty! The frost has melted now and it's dull and still. I've just been looking at some of the pictures of the Polar Vortex in the American mid-west. Horrifying! I can't imagine -54C - the lowest wind chill - in North Dakota. It makes our wintery spell look positively warm! Having said that, the icy pavements and roads can be treacherous enough and I don't blame anyone staying at home if they really don't have to go out.
Gem - I hope your friend stays safe and warm - it sounds very unpleasant out there. I'm glad you have got another year as Secretary to help see your new library into being. It's always hard to get Treasurers. My OH was treasurer on several committees (one for 20 years!) but he's gradually managed to ease out of them and into auditing, which isn't a soft option either! But now he's changing tack and is taking on a more pastoral role in the charitable organisation. I think he will enjoy that - he's very relaxed and finds it easy to chat (or listen!) to people.
Enfys - has the cold weather affected your knee? I'm glad you're managing to get out for lunch - it will do you both good.
Oma - I hope B's appointment goes well.
I can't understand panic buying and stockpiling. Our weather rarely stays bad for more than a few days, and if you have a reasonably well-stocked fridge, freezer and food cupboard you won't starve. I often wonder how much of the stockpiled food in people's homes gets thrown out eventually.
