Oma, hubby is hoping to getthe sherack finished today.
Our spare room is also Christmas central.

Our bigger spare room we keep clear and tidy for GC or anyone else needing to stay the night. The other one varies! I have a reflexology treatment in there once a month so it's at least tidy then It is useful having a room we don't need to use. At Christmas and when packing for a holiday.
When I had 3 children in 3 bedroom house there was no spare anything!

OH is a bit tired today. I recently have noticed more tiredness and less enthusiasm to get on with things than normal. It is to be expected with her treatment I suppose. She's on the week with no tablets, so maybe that will make it easier.

I had a message from Plant earlier. She is fine, but having trouble getting connected again. She is going to ask her GD to help tomorrow.

I'm just catching up a bit.

Nanto, you must be pleased to get all your present wrapped and ready to give. Did hubby finish the shoe rack? Has he opened his new phone yet? (Sorry I can't remember whether he said he'd leave it until Christmas or not). You can't beat having something you really fancy for a meal, even if it is toast and marmalade. I love marmalade as well, and that or Marmite are the two proper spreads to have on toast, for me. I know most people won't agree.

Gem, it is useful to have a room that is a room for visitors that is mostly ready to use. You've had a busy day with two of your GSs. I'm not surprised OH is feeling tired. Organising the golf club Christmas dinner is a big job, and she would have been keen to make sure it all runs like clockwork. Hopefully she can get some rest now though. Fingers crossed the week off tablets will help as well.

Oma, how kind of your GS to get the tree down and then offer to decorate it. I'm sure it would look lovely, different, maybe, but still lovely. He's such a kind lad. Do you need to rest and give your shoulder time to recover? It will be awful if you're in pain with it over Christmas. Did you get a nap? I hope MIL is still doing ok.

Plant, I'm sorry to hear you're having problems again with your iPad.

Hospital was ok this morning, except we had to wait till 10 am for the clerk to come on duty to book the next batch of appointments. We like to be there, so we can negotiate times if they offer an appointment later in the day.

We saw one of the most glorious sunrises I've ever seen as we were driving to the hospital over the flyovers. Later in the day I remembered the old saying about sky at night, sailor's delight, sky in the morning, sailor's warning. (Or shepherds I think). It clouded over and then it rained, and rained and rained. But by the time it was dark the clouds had cleared and we had a good view of tonight's super moon.

Sainsburys arrived in the downpour and we invited the delivery man in out of the rain (we haven't got a covered porch). As first he said he was ok, but rapidly changed his mind when the wind started blowing the rain all over him.

There's nothing much planned for tomorrow, except the dog food delivery, but I've got plenty of jobs to do.

          Night, night everyone.

            Good morning.

Not raining at the moment, for a change.

Daisy, it haven't wrapped hubby's new phone. He said he might set it up before Christmas. What he actually means is I'll set it up.

Going to the farm shop this morning, then onto the garden centre.
Last stop will be Asda, and it's a big shop. I know i stopped shopping with Asda, but i have £60 in vouchers that couldn't be used online.

Hubby is hoping to get the shoerack polished up when we get home, then it will be finished.

              Morning Nanto, Ladies.

              Nanto
It's a bit of a pain when vouchers can't be used online , but the plus side is you can look for all the goodies 😁

              Plant
Do you think you might need a new iPad or tablet now?
I hope GD gets it sorted again

              How is S feeling today?

              Daisy
We were the same we liked to be there to make appointments as we like early ones.
              How are you feeling today?
The poor delivery driver, they must get soaked several times a day,
Is Eva still at your DS's or did you pick her up on the way home?

My shoulder aches constantly but until I have a scan Dr just said take pain killers and heat packs,
It's worse if I have been busy and used it too much ,

Plus when I was in visiting MIL on Wednesday, the old lady in the next bed was trying to get out of her chair to get on the bed ,
There were no nurses around to help, so I hoisted her out of the chair got her onto the bed ,
Took her slippers off and got her covered over ,
I did pull my shoulder a bit so my own fault but couldn't sit and watch her struggle.

We think MIL is coming home today , so we will go down for her after lunch B making her a lamb hotpot just incase and she can have that for tea.
I think DD is coming over this morning but I'm not sure yet.

                Good morning everyone.

Daisy, that was a a nice side effect of the downpour. A beautiful sunset and super moon. I bet the Sainsbury's man was glad to be invited out of the downpour!

That's a good amount of vouchers Nan2, it would have been a shame to waste them!

Oma, S is OK thanks. Just off for her Covid jab. She often feels off it after those so so fingers crossed she won't this time. We have nothing much planned this weekend so she can take it easy if needs be.
Try to rest that shoulder xx

A go with the flow day. As I said yesterday we decided to leave the Christmas tree and decorations until after Monday, otherwise that would have been a job for today.

Lovely and sunny here, I am not going anywhere so intend to write my cards. I have very few to post now, will get those off Monday. Mine are mostly family now. Local ones I will deliver by hand. No thought yet about when to do the tree. Went to our lovely local JL with GD, it was heaving. It was her birthday and she was due a free cake. We are very lucky having such a lovely shop close to us. Yesterday we had a visit from GD2, her OH and little Lenny, not so little now.

Gemini, I hope S will not have any reaction after her Covid jab. How is your little GS now after his op on his eyes, hope all is well.

Daisy, I don’t have a porch for deliveries. The Waitrose delivery has to be brought into the kitchen, they do unload it for me.

Oma, I hope all will go well for Mil coming home, I do wonder if she will be okay this time. I will consult my GS’s about a new IPad.

Nanto, Well done to OH for making the shoe rack, that is just what I could do with at my back door. Will have a look for one.

Plant, Little E is fine thank you. When he was here on Thursday he was on really good form, with almost totally straight eyes
We miss our John Lewis, the nearest to us now is Leeds. You are lucky to have one so close.
Card writing is quiet nice activity I think. Especially with something interesting to watch or listen to in the background.

I have tided out a bathroom cupboard which badly needed doing, set a loaf of bread baking and taken chicken breasts from the freezer to cook later. That's probably enough for today apart from cooking tea later

                      MIL is home,
Had a bit of a strop as we didn't get there till 1.30
She rang about 12 said. I'm ready to go but don't come till I've had my dinner,

We told her it would be about 2 before we got there,

As soon as we walked into the ward she said ,
Where have you been could you not go shopping first thing .
I said firstly we can't just drop things to suit you,
DD had came then we had to wait till your hot pot was cooked , then go to Aldi to get milk and shopping for you,
What do you think we are super human..

I had to get her dressed and pack her bags ,

Got her home made sure. She had her oxygen on , made her a cup of coffee and a chocolate eclair I had taken,
Put all her dirty washing. In the washer and her clean clothes away
Made sure she had her alarm necklace on and her phone in her pocket.

I then phoned the carer team to arrange them for tomorrow and she wants a bath so have to book that.

We came out and felt like we had done a full weeks work,
I think his sister is going tonight .

Gem, glad little E is doing ok. Hope Sis ok after her covid jab.

Oma, MIL as charming as ever.

Got all that we wanted from the farm shop and the garden centre.
There were a few things i didn't get in Asda, because they didn't have them.
When we go into town on a Tuesday we park next to Morrisons,so i'll pop in there and see if i can get them.
For some reason i'm not a fan of Morrisons, but needs must.

Torrential rain here! I'm so glad we don't have to go out.

Oma, MIL is really a trial isn't she? I really feel for you xx

We don't go to Morrisons much Nan2. I did a couple of online orders but they didn't have the offers I am used to from Tesco.

I've had a busy day, but it's more than time to sit down and catch up with everyone!

Nanto, I'm always tempted to spend vouchers or Nectar points on treats and luxuries. My sensible head stays at home. Did you get any treats at Adsa. I quite like Morrisons - there's only a medium-sized shop in the town DS2 and DIL live in, so I often pop in if I'm going to their shop. DIL loves some of their cookies, so I usually treat her to them, and there are often really good fish and meat bargains on very short dates which I get and freeze for Eva. I'm sure the shoe rack will look very professional, and a very useful thing to have. When I asked about your OH's new phone I was thinking it would be better to set it up before Christmas to give him a chance to get used to it. I hope he's happy with it.

Gem, I'm glad to hear S is feeling ok, and hope the Covid jab doesn't make her feel poorly. I imagine she must be tired after the work of organising the Golf Club dinner, though. It's good to hear how well little T is doing after his eye op. He's a brave little chap. You've had a very useful day with tiding cupboards, baking bread and preparing for a chicken meal. You were probably glad you didn't have to go out in that rain.

Plant, you are lucky to have JL so close. Our nearest is only in Southampton but it's still a bit of a trek. But I love the cafe there. There are panoramic views over the port where are all cruise liners dock. Waitrose are very good about helping with deliveries. I think Sainsbury will do the same if you ask. Your iPad may be gradually packing up on you - mine did, and my desk top computer was nearly 10 years old, so I decided to get a Mac laptop, and I've never regretted it. I don't like using a laptop keyboard and touch pad though, so I got a proper keyboard, a wireless mouse and a 27" screen. I can easily disconnect all the peripherals if I want to take the laptop anywhere, but at home it's just like having a gorgeous desk top machine. I've never regretted it - the best of both worlds. Belated happy birthday to your GD. I bet she enjoyed her shopping trip with you.

Oma, your MIL will never change, will she. I do hope she's ok at home, though. It is such a worry for you all. Are the carers nice? I hope they know she can be a bit feisty. No wonder your shoulder is so painful, but it was very kind of you to help the lady back into bed. Please try and take care of yourself sometimes, though. xx.

Yes early appointments have several advantages - easier to park, less time lag as things get held up as the day progresses, and I've got the day to rest or otherwise depending on how I feel. We usually go straight over to DS's to collect Eva and have a chat and a cup of tea.

I feel fine today, thank you. The dog food order came about 9 am, and I was able to put it straight in the freezer, feeling very smug that I'd got it sorted out in the week. I got three loads of washing done, but some of it isn't dry yet. Then I started on the living room. It's needed a good 'bottoming' for ages, and today it got one! I gave up on trying to clean behind the tv though. I just can't reach so OH will do it tomorrow. That's it now for Christmas. We can put the decorations and tree up and it will just get a flick of the duster and hoovering now. It started raining a bit so I didn't clean the patio doors either. I did a few other odd jobs, and took Eva for a walk. It felt quite mild and I enjoyed the fresh air after being indoors all day. OH cooked salmon with buttery new potatoes and lots of veggies. I treated myself to a glass of non-alcoholic wine! It's ok but not like the real thing.

I must tidy the drawers in both freezers. Frozen items just got dumped in yesterday.
Going to get the new shoerack in situ.
A little bit of ironing to do.
