Good morning, chilly out on the bike, I must get my gloves out of storage!!

It is GD1's 20th birthday today, where do the years go?? 24 years ago that DH passed away.

Oma, if Daisy has her iPhone with her it will have a very good torch on it.

I took some roses to a neighbour on Friday, she never married so no family, her nieces and nephew do care for her though. She probably has cancer of the bowel, she has to go for scans etc this week, she said she will go but the doctor mentioned chemo, she told me she won't have that, she is almost 85 years old, has had a good life and doesn't want all the bother of the chemo, to be honest I agree with her and wonder if they would start on something like that at her age. She looks so frail, I wonder if she will survive all the tests etc. She was saying she has fallen a few times in the house, I was talking to the nephew and said it would be good for her to get an alarm, he said " we both know the answer to that"! She has carers in twice a day, they have fitted a key safe on the wall outside of the flat so that they can get in.

I will get myself changed and ready to go to GD1! They aren't as early as I am, mind you, most people aren't!

Good idea about the phone torch but if she is like me I totally forget my phone has a torch😁

I think at 85 and frail , your neighbour is probably making the right decision over Chemo.
Is it worth all of that for maybe a few more months depending how far the cancer has gone.
If it's in the early stages maybe there is a argument for it but if not then she has to do what is right for her.

Hope your GD has a lovely birthday, these grandchildren have gone from babies to young adults in the blink of a eye haven't they.

I think of my parents passing but more so my Brother and Sister😢

        Good Sunday morning, everyone.

Lizzie, I hope your neighbour doesn't have to make that decision. I think perception of age is very different for different people, and if it's early stages she could make a good recovery. There was a lady I know of in our village. Very active, often flying to San Francisco to see one of her sons, celebrated her 90th birthday with a zip wire party, ran a book club, took a driving assessment every year to check she was ok to drive and loads of other things. She was diagnosed with bowel cancer at 91 and had to be persuaded to have treatment, which was successful. She passed away peacefully at 96 but those last 5 years were just as full as the previous 90 years. Your GD's birthday must be a bittersweet celebration for you, remembering your dear OH. As you say, where do the years go - very happy birthday to your GD1.

Oma, I always take my phone, and do use the torch if necessary. This was more a case of keeping out of the way of ponies in a panic, and of course, keeping Eva safe as well as me. Have a lovely time with GS and Lucie.

It's raining and dark and dreary here. The planned gardening will have to wait!

Daisy, that must have been scary.

          Enjoy your meal out Oma!

Gosh Lizzie, 20 years since that baby was born. I remember how proud you were

We had an early start today. As our cats no longer like the raw food we decided to donate it to the cat rescue we got them from. There was a fair amount taking up freezer space, and it's far from cheap. They said someone would be at the centre during the morning. As we had arranged to call in to friends to collect a pumpkin this morning, we went to the cat place first.
We then unfortunately hit the York Marathon which we had no idea about. It took a long time to get to our friends house. We had to take lots so detours and go miles out of our way, so were extremely glad to be offered a cuppa when we got there! We now have a lovely home grown pumpkin for Halloween
I needed wrapping paper for GS1'a birthday present and replacement toothbrush heads, so we went to Tesco on the way back.

So sorry for not posting yesterday, after a shop in JL I didn’t feel great, must not let GD1 persuade me again, I was so tired. During the morning, GD2 was at the hospital as she was starting her labour. After several hours, the medics decided to do a cesarian as the baby was big. They should have looked at the father and made that decision earlier. I now have a strapping new Gt. Grandchild, they were expecting to go home today but not yet apparently. No name yet.

Oma, I feel very sad that all my five siblings are no longer here, I don’t have any contact with their children. I don’t think my phone has a torch, I think it is time I changed it.

Gemini, I am sure the Cat Rescue were pleased with the donated food. What is your cats favourite food now?

Daisy, Dark and dreary here too. My DD and I have managed to start gathering the eating apples on the ground, lots more to go, but what do we do with them?

What is life if full of care we have no time to stand and stare

Many congratulations on the birth of your new GGC Plant.😀
I’m sorry the shopping trip wore you out. We like the idea of these things but the reality can be very different.
I’ve had two sessions picking up apples. Luckily my garden waste collection was due so that’s where they went.

Plant, huge congratulations to the family 😊It's a baby boy isn't it?
We have 5 or 6 different types of cat food pouches and Iams dry food. They change their favourites all the time! They also get cooked chicken every day, but went off the raw food totally .

Clover we use and give away as many apples as we can, but a lot fall and end up in that garden waste bin too.

What a horrible wet miserable night! We got both cats in, cat door locked and overnight litter tray in by 7. Not before they had liberally decorated the house with wet paw prints from coming in and out

We have had a lovely meal and I am now in my PJs
It's so wet and cold a real wintery night ,
It was lashing down when we got to the restaurant but we were lucky to get parked right at the door ,
The main car park is across the road but there are 3 disabled bays at the door ,

                  Plant
Many congratulations to you all , I'm pleased baby arrived safely.
Do you walk around JL or can you use a customer wheelchair?
It would be so much easier if you did.

                  Gem
                  Cats are fickle aren't they,
They love one food one week then turn their noses up the next.
I bet the rescue centre is pleased with the donation,
My DD cooked the raw food she had left to try and get her cats to eat it but they wouldn't ,

                  Clover
I wish I had a apple tree but I imagine there is only so much you can do with them before you get sick of the sight of them 😁

Oma, we also tried cooking some of the raw food but they liked it even less that way!

Plant, many congratulations to the family on their new baby boy. It must have been a bit of a worry when they decided to do a Cesarian, and as you say, they might have realised he could be a big boy before mum was actually in labour. I hope baby is ok, and mum makes a speedy recovery. I think wandering round big shops is tiring, more so than going for a walk. I hope you rested when you got home.

Gem, the rescue centre must have been very pleased with the food you gave them. Your kitties don't know how lucky they are that they can change their food on a whim. I've noticed our neighbours' cats will eat something one day, but not the next. But I think there are dogs like that as well. Our village held an apple pressing day last week. You could take all your apples, windfalls and all and have them pressed into juice. I think it was very popular. It was free and you got juice to take home, although of course your apples would be mixed with other people's, but no doubt that gave a more interesting flavour.

Oma, it's definitely been a day to stay cosy and warm indoors! It was lucky you could park right outside the restaurant.

Clover, you're right. Reality can be so different from what we imagine. At least you managed two sessions of picking up your windfalls.

We have had a horrible wet, dark and dreary day. Then it almost stopped raining about 5 o'clock so I wrapped up warm, put my rain jacket on and took Eva out. Then is stopped raining, and it wasn't actually cold. By the time I got home I was very hot. You can't win. we didn't go far tonight though - just round the block. I got all the ironing done today. I'm shattered now and ready for bed.

                        Good morning everyone.

Nan2, I hope you are having a good holiday.

Ironing is tiring Daisy, especially after walk in the rain!

No aqua for me this morning as I have a Friends meeting. This afternoon I am going to DD1's to take GS1's birthday present. He will be 13 tomorrow and I think they are having a day out.

Any news on GD and baby have they chosen a name yet?

I need to go for mouth wash this morning I used the last of it last night ,
I thought I had another bottle in but obviously not.

B has his COVID jab at 11 .

Forgot to say when I was in Aldi the other day I bought a chocolate smelling candle,
I put it on last night and my house smelled of hot chocolate it's lovely,
It's more of a winter cosy candle .

Not one you would use in the summer I think Gem but on a dark wet night when you get all cosy it's lovely 😁

                                Good Monday morning, everyone.

Nanto, thinking about. you and hoping you're having a lovely time.

Gem, I hope the meeting goes well. Will you have to do the minutes? It's hard to believe GS1 is 13! Don't the years fly by. I hope he has a lovely birthday.

Oma, you're right about not knowing how hot or cold it will be and at the moment I find it hard to cool down if I'm too hot and visa versa if I'm too cold. I'm not sure about a chocolate-smelling candle, and OH would hate it, but I can see how it would feel cosy on a dark winter's evening.

Plant, I hope mum and baby are doing ok and will be home soon. I think it's hard choosing names for babies.

No particular plans for us today. OH is hoping it stops raining long enough for him to do some jobs outside but it doesn't look very promising. I feel like a lazy day (for a change!).
