Storm has gone home , it's started to rain here but even that is warm,
We could do with a good downpour and some thunder, cool the air down.

Only able to open the top window must be a pain.
The Gooseberry's I bought were Polish I think English gooseberry's are better but you just can't find them anywhere up here.

      Hello everyone.

Today is our last day in Canada. We don't fly home until 8 pm (4 am your time!) So we have most of today in Vancouver. We had a lovely meal last night and are going to walk down to the waterfront area this morning.

It's certainly been hot here today, and still is. I've spent most of the afternoon reading indoors, and feeling too tired to do anything. I can understand now why those people who hate hot weather feel.

OH is doing some wood turning as he says it's cooler in the shed. Eva is just waiting for it to cool down a bit so she can have a shower in the garden. I must remember that the water in the hose pipe will be hot and run it off first! I saw a horrific picture of a toddler who got seriously scalded by water from a hosepipe that had been out in the sun.

My DIL1 is on her way back from a holiday in Portugal where it's been low-to-mid 30s. At least she won't need to put on extra layers when she gets home.

Gem, I hope you're having a lovely time in Vancouver, and look forward to hearing all about it when you have time. Safe journey home. Do you have a stopover and will you be able to sleep?

That hot weather must be so tiring for you Daisy

It's a 9 hour flight from Vancouver to Heathrow. I think we are due in around 1.30 tomorrow afternoon UK time
We go straight to the airport hotel we stayed in before we flew to get some sleep.. I rarely get any sleep on overnight flights,OH does a bit better usually.
Train home on Monday morning, hopefully a little refreshed by then!

I can't say we are loving Vancouver, but the greyness doesn't help!

Daisy, its been another very warm one here as well.
We haven't had any thunder and lightening, not yet anyway.

Some parts of the garden centre were lovely and cool.

Gem, it's certainly a long journey, and the seats aren't always very comfortable. I used to sleep well on overnight flights, but less so as I got older. I find it helps to set my watch/phone to BST/GMT as soon as we get on the plane. I try and think myself into the home time zone, and it does help to reduce jet lag. I hope S manages to sleep well this time. What a pity the weather in Vancouver was so grey.

Nato, I'm glad you've escaped the thunder storms. Did you buy anything at the garden centre?

I had to water several plants tonight. They were very droopy, especially hydrangeas. Then Eva wanted her play shower - she loves the hosepipe and chases the jets of water, in between being hosed down. She came in very wet, but OH towelled her dry and she's slept all evening. It was far too warm to walk her even after it was dark.

Good morning, I don't think it has cooled down all night! 35 degrees forecast today, then, it could be cooler next week. I did get some sewing done yesterday, it was summer market in the village and the local material/curtains etc shop had an offer, they are usually very expensive, I got some light linnen type material for GD2 for her holidays and got them put together, I even had a bike ride to their house late afternoon to let her try them on, they are almost perfect, just a little too long to I got home and shortened them, I hope to get the others done today for her. It was warm on the bike, but, then again it is everywhere!

I do want to get to GD2's school this evening to wave her off.

Daisy, all the plants need so much water.

Gem, I do hope that you have a good flight back home.

Nanto, lucky you in a cool garden centre.

                  Good morning everyone.

                  Gem,have a safe journey home.

Lizzie, hope GD2 has a lovely time.

Hubby just gone to pick his brother up, they are going to a car boot sale.

Daisy, I bought a few bits from the shop in the garden centre. We didn't buy any plants.

According to the weather forecast, temperatures have peaked and it's going to feel fresher.

Salad for dinner, I think we will have scampi with it.

                    Morning Nanto,ladies.

We had a thunder storm last night but it didn't last more than 5 minutes, very disappointing.

                    Nanto
I wonder what delights Hubby brings back today 😁

Lizzie I hope your GD has a lovely time,
They are so lucky you can make them stuff.

I hope the flight is comfortable and you do get some sleep,
                    Hasn't it flown by,
I bet the kittens are pleased to see you 😁

                    Daisy
Storm didn't have a walk either,
DD won't take him out if it's above 19 and he didn't want to move anyway.

It was so hot during the night, I have stripped the beds as the pillows and bottom sheet are sweaty,
We had all the windows open and the doors for the air to flow but then the blinds rattled all night.

It's very overcast and drizzling, I did put one load of washing out but had to bring it in again ,
Big black clouds overhead, it's not cooling any though.

                      Good moaning!
Much fresher here in Southend-on-Sea. We actually had some thunder earlier. Like Daisy’s Eva, Bess went without her evening walk last night as it was far too hot. It was even too hot at 7.30am yesterday, so we only had a quickie then.
Today is granddaughter’s 18th birthday. We are going for cake etc. later.

The decorator is coming tomorrow to do the kitchen diner and hall, stairs and landing. Last time he came he fell off his scaffolding and ended up in hospital! 😬
Scampi sounds delicious Nanto2, we are having lamb. I do not like lamb. OH loves it so I will cook it. I could so very easily give up meat, but it makes life difficult if we visit friends for a meal.
Lizzie, what a superstar you are. I haven’t sewn anything of note for a while. You have given me the urge!
                      Have a good day ladies.

                        Good Sunday morning, everyone.

Nanto, what a lovely cheerful greeting - thank you. I wonder if this warm weather will encourage even more people than usual to get out early and go to the car boot sales. I've been looking at our garden this morning, and thinking we need a few more plants to flower into the late summer/early autumn to keep some colour going. Scampi and salad sounds great for this weather, although it isn't quite as hot so far this morning.

Oma, perhaps those big black clouds will carry a proper good thunderstorm to clear the air a bit. Storm is very lucky to have such a careful dog-mum as your DD. I hate to see dogs being dragged round on hot days. They must get so hot.

Lizzie, I do hope your GD has a wonderful time, but I'm sure you'll miss her. It sounds as though you found lovely fabric at the sale, and have put it to good use straight away. Your GDs are such lucky girls.

Grauntie, I hope your GD has a very happy 18th birthday. I bet it doesn't seem 5 minutes since she was a newborn baby. They grow up so quickly. At least the weather is a bit fresher for her celebration, and hopefully the cake won't melt! That's a big decorating job. I hope the poor man has better luck on his scaffolding this time. That must have been such a shock for him and you. I feel much the same about meat - I can take it or leave it, and always think it's the least appetising item on my plate. Do you like fish as an alternative?

Gem, I hope you are having a good flight home, and manage to get some sleep. Going straight to your hotel is a good idea and will give you both a chance to adapt to the time change. As Oma, says, the time has flown by but you've packed a lot into it. Will you need a holiday to recover? I'd love to see the kittens' reactions when you get home. xx

We're trying to decide whether it's cooled down enough to do a bit more work on the pond today, but the lawn needs cutting and there are plenty of little weeds coming through, and the tomatoes need tying in. I don't think we'll be idle today.

We keep getting the odd little shower, but nowt to call owt.
My washing was dry before the first shower,so got it in time.

Oma, hubby bought a picture at the car boot, but it is going in the arbour.

                          Grauntie,happy birthday to your grandaughter.
Hold onto the decorators legs when he is on the scaffolding.

Daisy, no gardening here, Sil has decided not to cut the grass although they are going away on Tuesday for a week. Our grass isn’t a lawn but very pretty with clover which the bees love. Overcast here but I shall be watching the tennis.

Nanto, your GD’s are very lucky to have a GM so clever with a needle. You must get a lot of satisfaction to see them wearing your hand made clothes that no one else has.

Oma, Very sensible DD, this is not suitable weather to be walking dogs.

What is life if full of care we have no time to stand and stare

Plant, it is me, Lizzie that does the sewing. I do them mostly for GD1 as she is so tall!! She is 6 ft and finds trousers difficult to buy with such long legs. I have just got another ready for her to try on, plus, what was left of the material I have made her a "beach bag"! Now I will rest until I go to wave GD2 off on her way to Praag.

Your SIL does right leaving the grass, I don't know about here, the grass isn't growing at the moment, I do see the council, in most places, have those beautiful wild flowers along the sides of the roads, lovely to see, and for the bees etc.

"Nowt to call owt" Nanto, a saying of my "Yorkshire" mum!!!

Lucie is away with her friends for a week so he is taking the opportunity to get as much golf in as he can,
He is in a competition tomorrow with his Dad and some friends as a team.
