We enjoyed going to Pontefract,it made a nice change.
It was cool though, chilly wind.
After we got home, the sun came out and warmed things up a bit.
Had unexpected visitors in late afternoon, nice to see them though.
Oma, hope MIL is well on the way to recovery.

The weather seems to have been mixed today. We had a few overcast spells but it was pleasantly warm. Then the sun came out but a bit of a breeze - the wind had definitely moved round towards the north, but it was still warm, especially in the sun. I think is due to get colder tomorrow.
We (mainly OH!) got quite a lot done in the garden - he fed all the posts and plants with fertiliser, emptied one of the rain butts to fix the leaky tap. I trimmed all the edges of the lawn, and after lunch OH mowed it. He did a really good job - he's much more thorough than me. We tied in some climbing plants, deadheaded the last of the daffodils, swept the patio, and did a bit of tidying up. It was lovely being out and pottering round, but then it got too hot for me so I went in and read. It's a bit frustrating, but I'd enjoyed what I did.
Nanto, your day went well - and it's always nice to have visitors. How was the burger? I hope you got your ice cream as well, despite it being a bit chilly.
Gem, it's good to have a free weekend where you can relax and enjoy seeing unexpected visitors, and as you said, you can go to the garden centre tomorrow. S is the tomato grower, isn't she? What varieties are you growing this year? Is it runner beans you grow? I always remember an elderly boss of my OH's saying never plant your tomatoes out until the 24 May (even living on the south coast), and I always stuck to that - I never had much success growing them in the ground in the greenhouse and they did well outside. I loved growing them from seed, and watching them germinate and grow. I agree it's a bit early to put bedding plants out, although I don't think I'll do any this year ... well, maybe a few to add a bit of colour to some pots.
I've never tried giving pills to a cat, but I can imagine it must be a battle royal. I did once removed a tick from a friend's cat when I was looking after them, I wrapped him up in a towel but he was still wriggling about and it wasn't easy - then their other cat attacked me, running up my bare legs and scratching like mad. Eventually the score was one dead tick to me, and lots of scratches and hate from both cats.

Daisy, love the story about the cats. You seem to have got quite a bit of gardening done.
We got our burger, and it was really nice. The ice cream man wasn't there.
Could have got one from a shop, but we liked the soft whipped ice cream.
In my welcome to may post,i said DS2 was doing the Lincoln sportive cycle ride yesterday.
Well, its next week.
Hubby gone to a car boot sale with his brother.
He's got a list of a few things he wants for the garden. I know one item is greenfly spray.
Dinner today is mince and onion that i had left from making cottage pies a couple of weeks ago, colcannon mash and veg.
I've just heard the washer bleep,so i'm going to hang out the washing then make a coffee.
I was going to say something else, but i've forgotten what.

Morning Nanto/ladies
It's quite cold here with a strong breeze.
Nanto
I prefer a soft whip ice cream , you don't see many ice cream vans around our estate ,
Maybe once or twice a season ,
There was a regular one years ago but he got busted for selling drugs from his van😱
I'm off to my great niece's baby shower this afternoon, we picking one of my niece's up on the way , the one with the stoma.
While I'm there B will visit his Mam.
GS came for lunch yesterday so won't see him today.
B has a joint of pork in the oven to do for a roast tonight.
I like pork but can't stand the smell of it cooking.
All the candles will be alight later.
Hope everyone is feeling ok and enjoys there Sunday whatever your doing.
Where did that lovely weather go to??!! Cooler no sun here with a breeze.
Nan2, did you remember what you wanted to say?! I do that all the time.
Oma, we love roast pork. If we have a roast it's most often that.
Oh Daisy, Its a brave person who gives cats medicine or removes ticks, even if it is their own pet!!
Today we are going to B&Q for compost, then another garden centre for the plants. Daisy, OH grows cherry tomatoes and regular tomatoes, but I forget which type. She starts them all in the greenhouse. The baby ones come out of there and go outside in a hanging basket the others stay in the greenhouse. She will also grow cucumbers in the greenhouse and beans outside. She gets climbing French beans, which I love. All her crops do really well.
Have a good Sunday everyone.

Daisy, its cool here, but the washing has dried.
It seems to be brightening up here.
Gem, still haven't remembered what i was going to say.
Its been a productive day in Nanto land. Washing was done early.
Housework done.
I've made some chips for the freezer and par boiled some baby potatoes, also in the freezer.
They have been open freezed,so i'll get them bagged up soon.
Sometimes I forget to like posts, but that doesn't mean I don't like them.
Nanto, I quite like the soft ice cream, but would rather have some made locally - the raspberry ripple they do is amazing. We know someone who had a soft whipped ice cream van on a local sea front and she said it you had to be really careful to keep it spotlessly clean, and it's made me a bit wary, but I think there are tighter rules nowadays. You've certainly had a productive day - well done. I forget what I wanted to say as well! It's probably because we have a lot on our minds and are always busy. Did hubby get what he wanted at the car boot sale, and any extras?
Gem, climbing French beans are one of my favourites, too. I used to grow broad beans and pick them really small and they were nice. Runner beans were good as well, but they'd grow so quickly and then get tough. You had to pick them every day which wasn't so easy on the allotment. When we Clyde became diabetic I used to wonder how cat owners coped with twice daily injections. It must be a nightmare.
Oma, how was the baby shower? I hope MIL is feeling better. It was good timing, cooking the pork while you are out this afternoon. I quite like pork but don't cook it very often - I'm not sure why, except I can never decide on what cut to get.
Plant, it was really windy this afternoon and went quite cold. It's certainly blown the blossom off some of the trees - it looked like snow at one point.
I've had a non-productive day today. DS2 rang just as I started to post earlier, and we had a long chat catching up with things. Then I went for a shower and then I decided I needed a rest! I have portioned up a lot of dog food this afternoon, but have no energy to do anything else. OH is cooking gammon and chips for dinner tonight and I said I'd show him how to make custard for the apple pie we've taken out of the freezer. Then I think it's an evening with a good book!
"Joy is what happens to us when we allow ourselves to recognise how good things really are. "
A very strange day here weatherwise! The sun did eventually come out but it has rained 3 or four times. I did manage to get line of towels dried however.
We got the compost and some top soil from B and Q, then on to the other garden centre to buy the cucumber, tomato and bean plants. There is a very nice cafe at that garden centre but it was Sunday lunchtime and very busy. OH isn't keen on standing in queues, so we came back to the village and bought sandwiches from Thomas's bakers for lunch!
I have had a productive afternoon. I have applied for our ETAs to travel to Canada, and bought our travel insurance. Also messaged our cat sitter with confirmation of all details. It's less than 6 weeks to our holiday and time will fly!

Evening ladies,
I had a really good time at the baby shower,
My great niece is blooming she looked lovely.
It was good to catch up with my other nieces also.
MIL, B said was he usual self , complaining about everything.B had a word with the nurse in charge about her being in bed ,
He said she needs to be up and about .
They've said they are waiting for a walking frame ,
That doesn't stop her sitting in a chair.
It's rained a lot here and it's very cold .
Nanto
You did well to get the washing dried outside , well done
Plant
the baby is due in June , a little boy 😁
Daisy
Rest when your body tells you too, hope J manages the custard 😁
The pork was lovely , very moist and the smell was almost gone by the time I got back home.
It's the same here with the blossoms, it's like as you say snow falling,
I often wonder what it's like in that place in Japan that have avenues of blossom trees
Can you imagine what wedding photographs would look like .
Gem
What a shame about the cafe but garden centres get very busy on a Sunday don't they.
You have been busy haven't you,
Those 6 weeks will fly by quickly .
