Gem, Birthday cakes have become a kind of art form, haven't they! Long gone are the Victoria sandwich cake with icing, sprinkles and candles round the edge!

Oma, I'm sure your GS will love working in the kennels and cattery for the summer. It will be an interesting job. I'm sure B's pleased he got that painting done. What a pity it was so cold.

It's been pleasantly warm here today, until tea time when it went chilly.

DIL1 and both GSs are coming down for the day tomorrow. But she's just found out that on what will be a very busy day, a section of the M3 will be totally closed. It means a 20 mile detour for her, but at least she saw the closure notice today. She's going to come earlier in the hope of missing some of the inevitable jams. If it looks totally undoable we'll put the visit off till next week-end, but that will also be a nightmare because of Easter holidays.

Just the usual kind of day for me.
Hubby is making a new garden bench,so he'll probably be working on that.

Had some lovely slices of roast beef in the freezer,so thats for dinner with mash and veggies.

Daisy, I hope DIL and GS's get to you without too much hassle.

We will briefly see GS2 on his birthday today. SIL is coming over to borrow OH's car. His is a sports car and can't take GS and a friend. DD and GD have the more sensible car in Blackpool for the dance competition. We have no plans today, but it we decide to go out we have my car.
Poppy has an upset tummy this morning. She is on the spare bed looking sorry for herself. We suspect she ate something she shouldn't in the garden yesterday. We will keep an eye on her and fingers crossed she will be OK later

Good Sunday morning, everyone.

Nanto, what a lovely graphic. So pretty. Your hubby is always busy, but a new garden bench it a great project, and I bet it will last a lot longer than a shop-bought one.

Gem, I hope the dance competition goes well. I'm sure GS2 will be very excited. It's useful to be able to borrow cars within the family, isn't it. Poor little Poppy. I wonder what she ate. I always assume cats are far too sensible to eat anything bad for them, but perhaps kittens have to learn that. I hope she's ok.

DIL is going to come down earlier than planned, because the detour will also be very busy. But I can't see the GSs getting out of bed in time, so they will probably have a very slow journey. I hope they make it in time for lunch. They could, of course, come with their Mum, but GS1 likes the drive, and they sometimes stay on after she's gone home. It's always good to see them, though. DIL is bringing and cooking lunch for us all, so I can swan round, being a lady of leisure.

Daist,hope family arrived safely.

Oma, its cold but very sunny here.

Hubby only got started on the bench ½ an hour ago.
Nephew paid a visit earlier, he came on his motorbike.
When he was ready to go,his bike wouldn't start.
So, they had a fiddle with it but no joy.
Eventually hubby helped him home with it. Fortunately,he only lives 3 streets away.

Oma, I bet B's car looks lovely and shiny now. Mine is covered in gritty sand stuff that's come in on the wind. DIL and the GSs brought Bailey the BC with them, so Eva has been well-entertained all day. They both spent a lot of time with us in the garden alternately basking in the sun, and then heading for shade to cool off. It's been a beautiful day.

Nanto, what a nuisance for your nephew, his motor bike breaking down like that. Thank goodness they didn't have to push it too far though. I hope it's nothing serious. How did OH get on with the bench?

Just as well he only lived a few streets away, motorbikes are very heavy ,
I remember pushing or trying to push our Martins huge motorbike into his garage once,
I couldn't shift it 🤣

Good morning, chilly again and there is a slight frost.

Hubby rang nephew last night, but he hadn't got the bike going. I'm glad he was at ours and not in the middle of nowhere.
Hubby got the bench sanded.

I've got a pile of ironing to do. Also need to get some brocoli blanched and frozen.

I need to use up some of the pigs in blankets that I forgot to use at Christmas. So we will have some chips and peas with them.

Poppy is better now, thank you everyone. She felt sorry for herself all morning. First hiding away as cats do when they aren't well, then coming outside and sitting quietly in a cardboard box. I brought her blanket out and she lay on it in the box for a couple of hours. Then gradually took more interest. Watching flies and birds, and eventually progressing from a slow painful walk around to chasing things and being perky. She ate a little at tea time, was keen to have her breakfast and seems totally back to normal now.

A wonderful day for DD2's family yesterday

Great birthday day out for GS2, his friend and SIL at a gaming museum in Sheffield plus tea out.

My GD did fantastically at her dance competition in Blackpool. In a team of four they came 4th, and for her both duet and her solo gained First! DD told me GD had been hopeful of a 4th for her solo. SO happy for her.
I will make another thread for those who miss daily Chat topics .

Aqua this morning. A friend from Scotland is coming for lunch. She moved away from York several years ago, and we see her every few years. She is a very negative person so I feel quite drained after few hours with her!

I heard yesterday that my GD had passed her audition to perform in the production of Giselle with the English youth Ballet .

I think we all have something we have forgotten in the freezer , ours was vol au vent cases,
We bought them then totally forgot them ,
They were found at the back of the freezer draw last week,
Lord knows when they will get used ,
Will nephew have to take the bike to the garage or does he tinker with it himself?

How are you today , is Eva worn out from yesterday😁

We off to the tip at 9 the last bits from the garden old pots etc ,
Then after lunch we will set too clearing our room ready for the new carpet.
This is the bit I hate , everything is so heavy,
Thankfully next week when SIL puts the carpet in the spare room I don't have a lot in there, a single bed and side table the wardrobes are fitted so don't get moved obviously.

Nanto, sorry to hear your nephews bike isn’t mended, pity you are far away my GS has a bike business. Although I presume it is a motor bike.

My GS4 (the youngest) has had a cycle repair business (run from his parents house for some years) he is quite well known now. I went, with my son and Dil, to see some premises he has just started to rent, he has to do some work on it to make it secure as he will be storing, and hopefully, selling some very expensive bikes from there. The premises are just down the road from WG. I was quite impressed.
