Oma, what a lovely time you've had. It's what birthdays are for!

Gem, I'm pleased to hear you are feeling a bit better and hope you will be well enough to enjoy your evening out with your friends.

WeeGranny, that was an eventful walk. It was very kind of you to take so much trouble to reunite the dog with her family. You'd think the owners would be out looking for her, and overjoyed that you had taken so much trouble to take her back to them. One of our Yorkies was an escape artist and we were always so grateful when neighbours found and returned him. But I found a local dog wandering a few months ago and took him back. The owners didn't realise he'd escaped and were too shocked and upset to be grateful. They were probably also a little embarrassed.

After a cloudy start to the day the sun is now blazing down and its 25C, but with no wind today it feels hotter. The clouds didn't clear in time for me to see the Red Arrows flying over our house, but at least I heard them!

I got a few chores done this morning, then a friend called round so I stopped for coffee. While it was still overcast I cleaned the dining room windows, which had been neglected for ages. They look much better now! But mostly I've had a lazy day. I'll make a frittata and a salad for dinner tonight. I'm going to try Grauntie's recommendation for beetroot with onions and mayo. OH is due home sometime tomorrow, but seems to be having a good time.

What a lovely walk that was WG, and well done with the lost doggy.

Daisy, it sounds as though you have kept yourself occupied but hopefully not overdone it.

Nice to spread your birthday out a bit Oma

I am going out. I have had another very lazy day. We are being driven by friends and it's no more than 5 minutes walk from the car park.
The tickley cough is the annoying thing, and the head and muscle aches which come and go. I have cancelled my place at tomorrow' morning s aqua class, so can have another easy day .

Good morning Nan2,Oma and everyone else.

              Oma we love Bamburgh.

Nan2 friends we were with last night are heading to Spain next week. They said it's incredibly hot over there just now

We enjoyed our meal out last night.
Another hot night and hot day ahead I think.

Safe journey home for your OH Daisy.

My ribs are SO sore from coughing, I should have a six pack
No aqua for me. We are planning to go to the nearby nature reserve of which we are now keyholders at some point today.

Have a good day and week everyone.

Well we didn't get as far as Bamburgh,
We got to Seahouse's stopped for a cupper and a sandwich , had that got back in the car and came home.
The sun was blazing and it was 28 in the shade,
Too hot for us , poor B we hadn't taken his wheelchair and he was taking a few steps then having to stop, it was just too much for him.
A long way for a cupper but it passed the morning I suppose.
Just got back home having a cool drink and feet up.

                  Good Monday afternoon, everyone.

Nanto, yes, I'm definitely looking forward to OH coming home. It's been strange without him. Safe journey to your DS2 and DIL . How long are they away for?

Oma, I've never been to Bamburgh Castle, but would love to. I hope you're having a good day there.

Gem, poor you. A cough like that is bad enough anytime, but much worse in this heat, but I'm glad to hear you enjoyed your evening out. Is there plenty of shade in the nature reserve?

OH rang about 9.30. They were on their way home but had stopped at a garden centre for breakfast. They're not back yet, but it took them 1 ½ hrs to get through Salisbury on the way up there. It's quite likely to be as slow coming back.

Poor Eva isn't enjoying this heat. She's trying various places round the house to find the coolest, but it's warm everywhere.

I've had a good, social morning, catching up with a friend, and a long chat with DS2. I've done a bit of tidying up, but it's too hot to do anything more energetic.

Hallo everyone, just gone 30+ here!!! 356 forecast tomorrow

I m following GD1 on the iPhone, I said I would do it until she arrived in Spain! She set it up on my new iPhone, I told her I won't be "stalking" her daily! They have arrived at Cologne airport, fly 17-30 I think, it has been a long day travelling for them, they booked the Flexbus. It will be hot in Spain for them, but, they are young!

I did coffee this morning then went to pick my ID up from the town hall.

Oma, my late sister loved Seahouses and Bamburgh, her DS1 lives quite close so when she visited they always went there.

I haven't been to the pool, too hot for me to get dressed again, my friend has just messaged to say she cancelled it for me or my place will go to the next person!! I have paid to the end of July so didn't think that was necessary.

DIL messaged from Spain. Its 45 degrees where they are.
They are sat in the shade at a cafe having cold drinks.
She says even the locals are finding the heat difficult.

Daisy, expect hubby when you see him then.

Oma, i don't blame you for not going any further.

Dried my washing in no time, but too warm to stand ironing.
I got my jobs done early.
Washed downstairs floors, cleaned the downsatairs loo and the porch.

My goodness it's a hot one today! My little weather station was showing 30 degrees at 9 o'clock this morning!

I gave Pilates a miss this morning and went for walk where I knew there was a lot of shady trees. Have only done a little bit of tidying around today and kept indoors in the shade!

GS off on his end of school holiday to Ayia Napa tomorrow with several of his friends! I believe there are 10 of them, but some friends are already out there and more are arriving later in the week! I'm sure they won't see much of the sun as they'll be partying every night!

Off now to sit on my swing in the shade at the bottom of the garden! Keep cool everyone xx
Believe you can and you're halfway there.

Over 30 degrees here. It's supposed to be a bit cooler tomorrow.
We went to the nature reserve and I didn't do much walking but have felt worse since I got back..Just sitting in the cool now.

It's the type of heat that makes you feel unwell , plus having a cold will be making you washed out,
I hope you get some sleep tonight and feel a bit better tomorrow, but its going to be another uncomfortable night I fear.

Not the weather to be struggling to get dressed is it .
Hope DD is ok in that heat.

                              Nanto
Far too hot to iron, it can wait I'm sure.

How are you coping with this heat , are you just staying in and watching tennis ? X

It's even too hot to eat ,
B had a ready made lasagne I ended up with a Chicken sandwich for tea.

I'm in my PJs they are cooler than my dress even.

Oma, I have only seen Banburgh Castle on the television, quite spectacular.

Daisy, poor Eva, difficult to get cool. I have my fan on. I hope your OH arrives safely soon.

Oma, I was out for a lunch at the village hall this morning and watching tennis this afternon.

WG, a cool place in the garden is the right place to be in this weather.

Gemini, I find it too hot for me so indoors curtains drawn watching tennis. Cooler now

Lizzie, I hope GD has a lovely time.
