            Welcome back Qwerty!

I had a nice time with DD and GC, GS2 of course ran us all off our feet. The energy of a 2 year old!
OH is playing golf, I have just had a lovely cooling shower, and now relaxing in with tea, water and the fan on
We are eating out in town with a group of friends tonight. I have offered to drive OH and I and a friend who lives locally. I just hope there are no thunderstorms at that time
A house in the neighbouring village was struck by lightening this morning. Signals at York station were also struck, which has meant chaos for the York to London route all day.

After responding to Gem's post on FB, I realised how much I would miss GRU if it disappeared, so here I am again!! As I said on FB, I'm having to work through some personal things at the moment, but have been lurking and keeping tabs on you all. Today is hot and sticky after a night of thunder and lightning but not much rain. I'd love a good downpour to clear the air and then have some proper British summer weather with blue skies and not too high temperatures. Well it could be a bit cooler, through the night! Been and had my hair cut in readiness for our trip to Liverpool with GS next week. Hopefully the trains will be running as they should and we don't have any changes of timetables. We're booked to see the Terracotta warriors and GS wants to see the Mersey Tunnel and we must have a trip on the ferry cross the Mersey. Last week we had a few days in the West Country mainly because we hadn't been down for about 18months. We were pleased to fond the in-laws gravestone still standing and in a reasonable condition, though it is beginning to list slightly as are many others in the cemetery.
Getting very black here so perhaps the threatened rain is on its way!
Take care everyone and enjoy tonight's blood moon......if the clouds don't get in the way!
Believe you can and you're halfway there.

That sounds a good trip to Liverpool WG. I hope the trains run and the weather slightly cooler.
Very nice to see you posting, but you do post in from time to time, some members regularly log in but haven't said a word for a very long time

Oma - I'm sure the jacket will come in handy sooner or later. It's nice when you see something you like without having to search for hours for it.

Mimi - I'm still loving the weather, although we had a brief downpour and some thunder this afternoon. OH was out and I was working in the greenhouse, but had to leave off as Eva was far from happy with the thunder. Good excuse to sit down with a cuppa!

Plant - I like summer dresses, but can never find anything to fit properly. Well done to you.

Gem - you must have had quite a storm, hopefully the last for today if you're driving tonight. Being struck by lightning is scary - I hope everyone was ok, and not too much damage. I wonder if all the trains in and out of York were affected? My friend was travelling up there this morning, but she goes via Birmingham not London.

WeeGranny - it's lovely to see you posting, and we appreciate it very much. The Terracotta Warriors seem to be very popular - I hope GS enjoys them. There are 2 Mersey Tunnels now (or is it 3, Glamma?). When I used to drive into Liverpool from the Wirral they used to make it 3 lanes one way and one the other to cope with the rush hour. It was always nerve-wrecking being in the third lane!! Going on the ferry was more relaxing - just time for a quick cup of tea. We had to laugh at my London-born DIL1 last week. She and DS1 went to a function in Liverpool and she was amazed that people sounded like my OH!!! It must have been quite emotional visiting your in-laws graves.

                  Qwerty - welcome back!

It's a little bit cooler here, so we're going to take Eva for a run in the paddock - her first for ages.

                  Back later.

Thunder here this evening, not much rain though, bit cooler, not sure what we are expecting tomorrow.

Daisy, I haven't worn a dress for years as I am larger at the bottom end than the top but this is a sort of 'T' shirt dress and a midi length, I am taking one back as it is too big in the top half. Might have a look around to see if I can find another one when I take it back. I do not own a skirt either, they have been too short but the fashion for midi length is good for me.

Good to hear from you Wee Granny, your trip toLiverpool sounds good. Hope you and your OH are well.

Plant - I'm between sizes - petite are cut too short/tight and regular sizes are huge on the shoulders and too long in the body for me! That's before I start trying to work out the actual size on the label! My pet hate is clothes of any sort that say things like 12-14, or 14-16. For goodness sake, can't the manufacturers measure!

It's a little bit cooler here this evening, so we took Eva to the paddock, and I don't think I've ever seen her run so hard. I'm sure she must have Greyhound blood in her veins somewhere! She's slept all evening, though!

We had an unexpectedly lazy day today. Friends invited us for a swim this morning, along with other friends. We got home at 9pm! It was a lovely day and we all agreed retirement is wonderful.
We have had a storm at last but not for long. Just been out to look for the moon but it must be too cloudy.
Yoo hoo WG, nice to hear from you.

                              Good morning ladies.
                              Raining heavily here.

Nice to see you popping in Wee Granny.

Shopping for us today, in town and then supermarket on the way home.

                                Good morning, Nanto and everyone.

We had rain in the night - enough to leave puddles in the road and about 2mm in some empty plant pot saucers I'd left out. I gave the lawn a very light cut yesterday and it does look a bit less crisp this morning. The sun's beaming down again (thank goodness) but there is a slight breeze and that Mediterranean feel had gone. I hope that's not the end of summer.

Today is a very exciting day of washing and chores in store for me, and then I can escape to the garden with a clear conscious. OH is out all morning so there will be no distractions!

                                Have a good day, everyone.
