Oh bless him Oma. Let all go well and him recover very quickly, he deserves to. I think you are right to put off SIL and the little ones. You don't want to pass it on and you just wouldn't enjoy their company feeling as you do. Rest, take care of yourself, and I hope you feel much better tomorrow xx

It is so cold here, really cold We are back from mums, with one of those cooked chickens from Tesco. I will do potatoes, veg and an Aunt Bessies each with it, so not a lot of cooking.

Oma - I'm glad you decided to take it easy today and nurse that cold into oblivion. Poor Martin - that sounds a horrible op, but if he will be ready to fly within 7 weeks the surgeon must be very confident about a good recovery.

It's been really cold here today, but I was getting desperate for some fresh air (did I say, 'fresh'? I meant Arctic!) so I've been gardening. Mainly tidying up, cutting back dead vegetation - we can now see the beautiful flowers on a huge hellebore - and moving the bird feeder. The neighbour at the bottom of our garden is having his massive conifers cut down to about 4 foot - one has already gone - and putting in new fence panels. It will make a huge difference to the light in our garden and the back of our house - although we won't get anymore sun. They tower over our (and their) house so we're hoping when they've gone we will be able to plant a border at the bottom of our garden - there's been no point so far - nothing would grow! So I've made a sort of cage over the clumps of snowdrops so they don't get crushed if branches come into our garden, and generally tidied up. Then, before I could thaw out, I took Eva for a run in the paddock. Blimey, it was even colder there, with a cutting wind (it's higher up and very exposed) and after about 10 minutes I'd had enough. I don't think Eva agreed, but I had the lead and the car keys, so no argument!

Very cold here today, much too cold for gardening Daisy. Hellebores don't do well in this area.

Hope Martin recovers quickly from his op. Oma. Hope you feel better soon

Daisy, that's good about the conifers coming down, they aren't among my favourites.

Oma, hope you feel better soon.
I don't think it feels as cold this morning.

Good morning everyone. Nan2, those pastries look very nice but I have got some kippers in the fridge for breakfast this morning so I plan to have them and I know I am going to regret it when they start to repeat on me during the day.
I have got stacks of washing to do today, where does all the dirty washing come from ? There is only the two of us for goodness sake! I am hoping for a nice gentle breeze and some sunshine so that I can hang the washing outside but I am not going to hold my breath!
Bring me sunshine in your smile.

Good Monday morning, Nanto and everyone. I feel a little bit sorry for the birds, Nanto, as the conifers are a good roosting spot, but I don't think they provide much else, and we will certainly be planting shrubs etc which I hope will be more wild-life friendly.

Mimi - I love kippers, but haven't had them for ages. OH dosen't like the smell. This morning I'll stick with a smoothie! I'm afraid the bad news is that washing breeds in the laundry bin. If you put one pair of socks in within a few days they will have become 10 pairs, and as for shirts, especially those which need careful ironing, they're like rabbits - breeding faster than you can keep up with them. I hope it stays nice and dry and breezy for drying.

OH has to tkae his car in for service this morning, then we want to go and have a quick look at the allotment to see if it's dry enough to work on next week-end, and I have to get the boy's bedroom ready for tomorrow, then off to collect GD2 from playgroup.

Good morning everyone. It is 4° here apparantly, so not as cold.

Oma, how are you feeling today?
Mimi, I love kippers, but rarely eat them, for the reason you describe!

A normal Monday here. Set off just before 11 to collect GS from preschool and bring him back here. He has been such a good boy since his mummy pointed out to him some weeks ago that unlike his parents who have to go for him, Grandma doesn't have to drive all that way to get him and take him to her house if he is horrible to her!
This was a shock to him

Morning ladies our usual trip to Hospital , I will have to put a mask on when get to the waiting room , they put a box at reception for anyone with a cold and you see someone every week with one on so I won't look out of place 😊.

Oma what a good idea about the masks.Hope all goes well at the hospital and you feel better soon.
Gem,I'm glad your little GS has realised that you don't have to pick him up so if he isn't kind to you he might miss out on Granny fun.
Daisy, those conifers being chopped will make a big difference to your garden. You'll gain extra growing space.
It's a cold wind here today but I must go round to the chemist and library. We also always try to get out for a walk, albeit a short one.

Oma when is M's op? You're sounding quite run down. Look after yourself too. OH had blood test results this morning. Low Vit D. He's to do a starve blood test tomorrow as his glucose levels are raised. I dread diabetes as his dad suffered horrendously before he died with diabetes complications. I'm sure he'll be fine.
                            Have a good day everyone.
