Well I had two of the little people for the night. No trouble whatsoever. Sadie is such a good little girl and goes to bed as good as gold, according to Joe she is not like that at home! I put a black out curtain at the window (the sort with suckers so you can take it down) and it worked a treat. Joe came in to me about 7am and Sadie slept until just after 8. They had cereal for breakfast then strawberries. Joe played on his hipad as usual and Sadie first played with the huge pile of Moshi Monsters then watched Charlie and Lola on the laptop.

Mummy and daddy were supposed to be here at 10am, I knew they wouldn't be, they are NEVER on time. At 11.00 son phoned and said he couldn't pick them up as he was still over the limit and could I take them home. 16 miles round trip. OK I will but only because I have work to do and he wouldn't be in a fit state to drive for hours. He suggested that he would get a taxi to pick them up but I would be uneasy putting them in a car with someone I don't know. Joe wanted to know why they weren't coming and I made some excuse, he said "I bet they both got drunk and can't drive". I didn't agree or disagree but he went on to say "well that means we won't be going to Chessington this afternoon and they will both be grumpy all day". We had a drink and they chose their sweeties to take home and drove over there after about half an hour.

It turns out son and dil didn't even get home until 8am! So Joe is probably right, no Chessington World of Adventures today. Son is 42 and dil 40 in a few weeks time, you would have thought they would have grown out of these all night binges by now, still what do I know?

I have posted some pictures including one of my new piece of furniture. I thought these were going to come as three separate trunks but they aren't they are together with drawers where the handles are. Spoilt my reasons for buying them as they were going to hold the sheets and towels so I could get rid of a big rattan trunk I have in my bedroom. If I had realised I think I would probably have got two sets and use as bedside tables in the bedroom.

You click on Edit as described above and your get an 'Edit Photo' message to the right of thephoto. Click on that and then hover on the image. A little red bin appears, click on that.

I've just tried my own instructions and the photo did NOT delete, despite clicking on the little red bin. I don't know why and I'll ask one of the other Admin or Mods to try it. I've got a very poor connection tonight which isn't helping! I deleted the post because I didn't want to leave that particular photo up, but we will sort it out!

We've had a lovely day today. OH's eldest sister and her husband live in Wales and we don't get to see them very often, but they are staying with their daughter and her OH in Southampton for a few days and all 4 of them came over over for lunch. I did gammon with new potatoes and a green salad and a tomato tarte tatin, with strawberries, cream and cheese and biccies to follow. It was much easier than trying to do a roast!

We sat chatting over lunch until about 4.30, a lovely relaxed day. OH cleared up the kitchen, bless him, and I'm just getting organised for GD2 tomorrow (and having a quick catch up here, of course!).

Morning it's drizzly, grey and miserable here.Supposed to brighten up later, no plans but to have an easy day after the busy day yesterday.Put out all my hanging baskets, planted some fushcias, baked cakes, cleaned bungalow. Was in bed by 9pm as I fell asleep reading my book.DD coming for lunch, as I won't see her until after half term. She, hubby and youngest pink ones are off to Greece for half term. They have rented a private villa with pool, so girls are very happy. My cooking stint starts Thursday 2 days this week, 5 days next, then 2/3 days until end of June. So much for semi retirement . But as soon as this is over my part time hours truly start, although I have booked the first 2 weeks of July off as holiday. Looking at booking a holiday but organising doggy care is proving diificult, I won't consider kennels as Bramble has separation issues. We joined a website where peopke come to stay in your home, they are mostly retired people who look after the home and pets. They have great recommendations and are CRB checked, but the 2 enquiries we made so far have not been available. But will keep looking.

Libra, I wrote on another thread about my friend who has a pet sitting business and lives near Portsmouth. No idea if you are too far from her or if she is booked, but I can certainly PM you her number. I have another friend who works for an agency as you describe. She travels all over UK and abroad to pet sit. I know she gets booked way ahead though.

Thanks Gemini, but Portsmouth would be to far for the simple fact Bramble does not car travel, never taught as a pup sadly. But fingers crossed my friends DD may be able to help out, she looks after Mums dogs when she goes away. Just waiting to hear back from her-fingers crossed.

Sorry Libra, I meant she would stay at your house to look after Bramble, she does that for pets, as well as daily visits and dog walking for more local ones.
Let's hope your friends DD can help, but let me know if you do want my friends contact details.
I know full well how hard it is to arrange care for pets while on holiday
