Good morning ladies, and lets hope May brings better health to the poorlies and some warm sunshine for all of us.
Welcome home Avo and Zizi.
We've got a sunny start to the day, but there's been a frost over night and it's still very chilly. I'm hoping to plant the shrubs etc we bought on Friday, if OH's back is better (he digs the holes!).
Whatever you're doing today ladies, enjoy yourselves. xx

I am having a general tidy up today and putting a light colour on my hair as I don't have time to go to the hairdressers for a coupe of weeks. We are having a new boiler installed Tuesday and Wednesday (that is £2,300 out of the savings account) as the existing one keeps cutting out and is leaking - this week have had to put a bowl under it to catch persistent drip. It is quite old and needs replacing before we can organise the kitchen replacement.
Had conversation with dil yesterday and she gave us the name of a kitchen company which will guarantee to match any price. We have had a look on line and are going there next Saturday. We have the quote from Magnet with all the measurements so we should be able to get a more or less accurate quote straight away.
This week is very busy with a site visit to our Kings Cross site for 18 students on Tuesday followed by a meeting with the principal of a school for the deaf and a new mainstream academy; a meeting at a children's hospice on Wednesday in North London (pain to get to), then off to Birmingham on Thursday YEP staying at Premier Inn, going by train. Not ideal as it will add an hour to the journey but I have an all afternoon meeting. Friday back home around 1.30pm by which time I think I may be on my knees. So much for slowing down............

Oh Zizi I didn't realise your quote was from Magnet , they are very pricey I'm sure a independent kitchen store would do a better deal . We popping into a few shops this week as I want a new sink with unit for downstairs loo , nothing wrong with what I have but fancy something a bit more squarishIm not fat just 6ft too small

Good morning everyone
Busy week ahead for you, Zizi
A bit stormy looking here. Not sure what we shall do, it depends on the weather! GD was quite a lot better yesterday, and managed to go to see 'Joseph' with Grandpa, which she enjoyed.
I had a lovely meal and catch up with DD3 last night. Her belated Mothers Day gift to me“A grandchild fills a space in your heart that you never knew was empty.” – Unknown

Your very posh Oma with a square sink hope my kitchen sink comes soon 😏
Zizi I didn't even look at Magnet for worktops they are well known for fleecing you, we paid over £2000 for our boiler a few years ago unfortunately that's what they cost, we changed it as didn't think it was efficient anymore been in many yrs but to be honest we have found no difference in the cost of bills and has let us down more than once wish I had my old one back, only good thing is it was moved from the kitchen to the airing cupboard upstairs and out of sight.

When we moved in over fifteen years ago the boiler was broken. It was November and the vendor was not interested, this was a real "Heath Robinson" flat and he quickly disappeared. We found out recently when we got the deeds that the reason he disappeared was that he was being made bankrupt. We got an emergency boiler repair and it is has been alright more or less since then but in the last few weeks it has been cutting out and the last straw was when I wanted a big deep bubbly bath after a particularly busy day, I ran it and there were lots of bubbles but when I tested the temperature it was cold. Luckily the chap who is doing it is a friend of our boys (all of them) and we have known him since he was about nine. He is coming to pick up a key tomorrow and he will let himself in.
The only reason we went to Magnet was that we had trundled around so many shops and we were just looking at the designs to give us a better ideas but the kitchen we saw, which admittedly is the high end type, is the only one we have both looked at and wanted unreservedly. We did go to the independent shop which put our kitchen in the house we moved out of but the sales person was very pushy and full of himself. He more or less demanded that we book an appointment for him to come and measure up. I am afraid I got a bit tetchy with him.If you want to go fast go alone, if you want to go far go together
