Hello, everyone (too late to say 'good morning!'). We've still got that slightly chill wind, but the sun's lovely. I'm glad the weather has improved for those who were shivering yesterday.

I've just read yesterday and today's posts!

Jersey Royals - I agree they don't taste like they used to do, and as Oma says come washed now which may not help the flavour. But I believe the growers have stopped using the traditional seaweed fertiliser as it got too expensive. If you want to grown your own though for next year, look out for seed potatoes called International Kidney. IK's are Jersey Royals but I think JR is a protected name rather like Melton Mowbray pies, Champagne, etc. I used to grow them on the allotment and they were delicious.

Nanto, I love that graphic! Glad you enjoyed your pub lunch.

Plant, a new sun room sounds exciting. I know how much you love to sit out there, so having a lovely new one will be fabulous. It sounds as though you've got a good local carpenter to build it for you, and even better that he disposes of the old one as well.

Gem, it sounds as though that Labrador got plenty of exercise at the Leisure Centre. His poor owner must have been so relieved to get him back. I hope you're having a good day with GS's 2 and 3. GS3 is probably fascinated having his bit cousin for company. Does GS2 play with him?

Oma, I hope MIL was happy to see you and all was sweetness and light. x Are you still feeling much better?

I took Eva out fairly early this morning and we had a lovely walk in the Forest with no-one around. OH and I sat and had a cup of tea when I got back and we video called DIL1 because I'd missed a call from her yesterday. Now I'm trying to catch up on lovely birthday messages from yesterday and OH is cutting up wood to make an ornamental arch for the garden. We want to use it to hide the view of our compost bins and a rather bare conifer in the neighbour's garden. I think we'll grow Clematis up it - not sure yet.

      I love clematis Daisy.
      Make your birthday celebrations last

GS2 is so good with the baby. To say he was the baby of the family for 6 years he is brilliant. Baby adores his bigger cousin of course! They looked after him overnight last weekend and GS enjoyed helping his mummy.
When the baby naps this afternoon we are going to make microwave cupcakes in mugs which GS2 saw on TV this morning.

my neighbours across the road planted one a couple of years ago in the back garden by the fence ,
Its now over the fence and a sea of cascading pink we can all see 😁

MIL was in a ok mood grumbled a bit but on the whole she was ok so not a bad visit .
We try to stay a little longer when it’s a good visit

Its still dull and none to warm ,
Im just about to text SIL tell her how MIL was , so she knows what to expect when she phones her tonight.

Oma, glad MIL wasn't too bad today.

Daisy, i read that it was due to health and safety that Jersey Royal growers had to stop using the seeweed.

Just been out to the bin,and its like winter out there.

I think it was a colder wind today, but was lovely and warm this afternoon. I sat outside after lunch and could easily have fallen asleep it was so nice.

Nanto, I don't know about the H&S situation with using seaweed, but nobody seems to think Jersey Royals are as tasty these days. It's a pity because they were such an lovely annual treat, along with fresh local asparagus!

I somehow found myself tidying out the dog cupboard this afternoon - where we keep everything from doggy first aid, to coats, spare collar and leads, plastic food containers, bowls, treats etc. By the time I'd put everything back in there it didn't look any better. I cut the lawn and watered the pots then gave Eva a shower with the hose pipe. She loves this and sits at the back door watching the hose pipe until I let her out for a splash round!

Good Friday morning Nanto and all who pop in later.

Nanto, Eva says "Hello" to your cute kitty! I hope it's nice enough today to sit outside and enjoy your go with the flow day.

I'm taking Eva over to spend the day with Cooper in a few minutes. We're going out on a group walk in the Forest organised by OH's pensioner club. It ends in a lovely old pup with a cream tea in the garden. Usually we take Eva with us, but this walk is across open Forest with little or no shade from trees and by this afternoon I think it will be too hot for her. Still, she'll enjoy spending time with cooper and both GDs who are still on half-term. The last time we walked in this particular area a lot of us found it a bit too hilly, but this afternoon's walk should be a bit easier. I really notice even small hills these days - it's so flat where we live.

I hope everyone gets some sunshine today!

                      Good morning everyone.

                      The sun is back!!

Nan2, that is one of my favourite graphics

Have a lovey day Daisy. I disliked hilly walks even before my arthritic knees!

                      Fingers crossed from GS1 Oma.

It was lovely to have GS's 2 and 3 yesterday. They are so lovely No plans today. I was aching last night and in lot of pain when I woke this morning (just arthritis stuff, I'm not ill!) I have taken painkillers and had a cup of tea and will have bath soon. An easy day will do my poor old body good!

I hope the sun shines everywhere and you all have a good day.

Did you miss me, am I in detention for not checking in yesterday?
I spent the day with GD and H. We first went to our village playgroup, then back to GD flat for H to have a sleep and GD to walk the dog. Then in the afternoon I had bought tickets for n animal event in a hall not too far away. They started with the small insects and finished up with a huge snake. H loved it and was willing to touch some of the creatures, she was so excited. I was very tired when I got back, had some food and fell asleep. Quiet day for me today.

Have a lovely walk Daisy, sounds good. Eva will have a good day too playing with her pal.

Gemini, lovely pic.of GS’s on Facebook. Do you nappy change on the floor? It can’t be good for your knees. It is very frustrating at that age when they keep rolling over.

Oma, pleased to hear Mil was in a reasonably good mood. How frustrating the flat hunting is for your GS and family, I hope they get one soon.

Nanto, no sun here but at least the wind has dropped,

Plant, we will let you off!! That sounds a lovely day.
No I no longer change nappies on the floor, actually I have never changed to GC on the floor . I used to change GD and GS1 upstairs on the spare bed. Once GS2 arrived 7 years ago I changed to doing nappy changes downstairs to save my back from the extra carrying up and down stairs. I change Baby GS on the changing mat at the end of the dining table (not when anyone is eating at it of course

Good morning, it was cooler here early on but warming up now.

I have done coffee for the art group, they were using paint rollers today, one lady said " when I started I thought it would be nothing at all but I love it!"

When I got home I hoovered through, now need to do the floors then it is nice and tidy.

Gem, the nappy changing I did on a chest of drawers, the drawers are now back in my bedroom. I hope that your body recovers today.

Daisy, enjoy the walk in the forest.

Plant, you are a very busy lady, a good thing!

I have one denim skirt finished, now that my house is nice and clean I will cut the other one out and make a mess again!

                            Nanto, enjoy your easy day.

GGD H Hates and screams when GD has to change her on those pull down baby changers in shops and other places when we are out. . I have to hold GGD’s hands whilst GD changes the other end.

Well done Lizzie for completing your skirt.

Lovely visit from DS this morning, he doesn’t live far and I see him quite often but he rarely comes here. Had a nice chat, H is here so he saw her antics and of course he saw DD and Sil.

Oma, our posts crossed this morning. Sorry I didn't see yours - I'm not ignoring you. xx I hope DD and GS had better luck with viewings today. It seems they re selling very quickly. Still, I bet Storm was happy to have a "Nana Day" of being spoiled.

Gem, your GS2 and GS3 looked very taken with each other on the FB photo. It's lovely to see cousins getting on so well. It's always been really special to me that my 4 GCs all enjoy each other's company even though there's a 10-year age spread.

Lizzie, that skirt got finished very quickly! Do you reuse patterns or have different ones every time you make something?

Plant, no wonder you were tired after such a busy fun day with little H. Do you think she's inherited her Mummy's love of animals - she sounds a natural with them. All our GCs had a little chest of drawers with a ledge round the top to put a changing mat on so it wouldn't slip off and I used that at their houses. At our house I would use out bed with a changing mat. I think most of our generation could also change a baby on our laps if we had to. I remember my DIL1 being quite impressed with this skill! Was your DS1's visit this morning a surprise one? I hope you had his favourite biscuits in (all DSs have favourite biscuits!!!)

We had a lovely Forest walk today. I dropped Eva off for her play date with Cooper (I swear our dogs have a better social life than us!) and we picked our friends up about 12. We got to the meeting place much quicker than expected so had a cup of tea in the garden of the tea shop. There was a minimum charge which included cake, so we all had delicious home-made cakes. The walk was beautiful. The Forest is dressed up in its Spring best with all shades of green in the trees and flowers everywhere. There was a bit of a hill at the end which was harder, but mostly it was fairly flat. I think there were about 40 of us! Back at the cafe we had a very welcome pot of tea, scones, jam and cream. I doubled up on the jam instead of having cream. They came round twice to fill up our (blue) brown betty teapots, and then took orders for cake. I'd had lemon drizzle earlier so went for a delicious banana and cranberry the second time. We picked Eva up on the way home as it wasn't far out of our way, and then sat in the garden with yet another cuppa, enjoying the sunshine. So a lovely day, and tomorrow it's lunch out with the family -yet another birthday celebration.
