Morning all, albeit a little early. Woke up at 2.45 and sadly that counts as a goodnights sleep or me .

I echo thoughts and concerns about Clover. Hope she is coping with chemo as best she can.


Daisy I enjoy a veggie alternative to a traditional roast turkey but I havent tried veggie Wellington. Was it nice ?

Although it's been very cold here we have had some cheerful sunshine these past few days so we have both wrapped up warm and have been able to go for a walk for some much needed fresh air and exercise.
Yesterday afternoon I started to tackle the Christmas wrapping but only managed about half of it so maybe today I will finish it completely.

On Thursday the doctor rang , an hour later than my appointment time, but no surprise there . I have been prescribed some tablets to hopefully lower my blood pressure and I have another telephone appointment early in January . A week before the appointment I have to take my blood pressure twice a day to see if there is any improvement.
When I collected the prescription from the pharmacy I was offered a consultation with the pharmacist in a weeks time to discuss any problems or concerns I may have. Obviously the pharmacist are having to step in for the doctors shortage of on going care .
it's scary how the NHS is struggling so much.

Has anyone decided to ditch or cut down on using their tumble dryer because of the enormous hike in electricity and gas prices?
I only use mine if really needed but to be honest I've been doing that for quite a few years now, ever since we both retired from work actually. I thought nothing of tumble drying almost everything during my winter months but now I try to only use it if really necessary. It's alarming to see how the smart meter goes into panic mode whenever the dryer is on. Our meter is in the cupboard so I don't see it every time I am in the kitchen.

Good morning, Mimi, you are an early bird! I hope the tablets help your blood pressure. From what I read and hear, it is almost impossible to get to see a GP in the UK, I do often wonder why?
I haven't a tumble dryer, I did have one a few years ago and only used it a few times, if it is good weather I get my washing dry on the balcony and if it is dull, like at the moment, I have 2 wall racks in the spare room, I hang the washing in there and it soon dries.

Daisy, you would enjoy the lunch yesterday and Oma the visit to Ikea, did I mention that the one here had to evacuate the other Sunday? The roads were blocked all afternoon, it all came because the cash desks were not working and no-one could pay!

I went into Rotterdam yesterday afternoon and got the jars M wanted and some for myself for my jam making, a nice size. It was quite busy in town and I noticed most of the ladies had a "duvet" coat on!

It is freezing fog here at the moment, I will get cleaned through and get my lights etc done next week sometime.

The duvet coats are popular Lizzie. I am certainly glad of mine on Friday afternoons at this time of year. I swear GS2's school playground is the coldest corner on earth!!

* OH and GS2 still sleeping I used to enjoy this time up first when my own children were small.
GD will return to us at some time later today. We are treating ourselves to a fish and chip shop tea for us all tonight.
Not sure if we will go out with GS. It's cold so if he's happy to stay in so am I. Bun baking and Christmas crafting are on the agenda, with probably some Lego and TV watching.

We are being told that we can feed the ducks bread also , apparently it’s not as bad as they said before , you don’t know who to believe do you .

Everyone here has those Duvet coats , I tried one but felt I couldn’t move in it but it was very warm .

I use my tumble all the time , but off peak ,
Either myself or B are always up during night so take advantage of putting washer and tumble on then ,
Usually between 3-4am

I am on 3 different BP meds my BP was very high then Dr said I was taking one of the main ones at the wrong time ,
I was supposed to take it at night
So I have done that and have to have it checked again in January too.

All my weekend thorough cleaning is done , Hoovering done and a small amount of hand washing done , just my Bra’s and a silky vest top that I don’t put in washer .
Ithink DD is calling with Storm later and I may Dye my hair but I will see how I feel .

Good Morning lovely ladies,I did post yesterday but as I got the end somehow I lost it so will try again today.
As you all know it was a bitter sweet day yesterday with fond memories of my lovely John 3 yrs have flown by seems just like yesterday.So many kind messages from friends & family thanks so very much for all your kind thoughts x

DD & DS1 came and we went for a lovely lunch locally it was so nice to have my two eldest with me for the day we went to a local Harvester Restaurant the meal was delightful I was so surprised how busy it was considering funds are so short for such a lot of people at the moment the food was lovely and freshly cooked I had a small flatbread filled with BQ'd chicken and salad just a small cone of chips DD was quick off the mark joining their on line ap getting 20% off the final bill which was a bonus worth having .When we came out to the car park it had been snowing which was a shock I'm so glad I never went in my own car as the restaurant is down from my house on a hill a very steep hill and quite a few people where having difficulty managing the hill
DDs partner has a Range Rover so he could put it into "Snow Mode"what ever that is ?

My friend has gone back home to Halewood in Liverpool after staying from Monday-Thursday we spent 2 days browsing charity shops which she enjoys doing she always finds bargains this week she found a brand new pair of Lady Jane black suede shoes for £5 they are so nice still with labels on them,I bought a Christmas cup for £1 that was my best buy we then went to a cheap & cheerful cafe and had cheese on toast which was so enjoyable.

I don't have any reason to go outdoors today so am going to start wrapping xmas presents I dont have too many really mainly for the little tots all the grownup DGCs are getting £s in a card and they can buy what they want for themselves.

Just going to collect Oliver from Jims he slept there last night he just wouldn't come in for me he is such a funny cat.

Must go now and start some tidying not much to do really so an easy day all day for me I think.

We havve Storm today as DD SIL & GS have gone to the Metro centre Christmas shopping .

He is still on Steroids and he’s taking them very well but he’s still needing encouragement to eat , once he has a couple mouth fulls he’s fine he gets stuck in it’s just the initial start .

At the moment he’s asleep at my feet , I’m hoping he doesn’t have wind like last week when it was so bad we had to sit in kitchen to get away from the smell 😁

Oma it does make a difference when you take your tablets sometimes. I take BP tablets and one tablet ( of the same drug I take in the morning) I have to take at night. They have discovered that splitting the dose of that one between morning and night is better.

Glamma, I'm glad you had a good time with your friend staying.

GS2 and I have had a lovely day. We have spent a lot of time on the Jacqui Lawson advent calendars, this year and the 2 previous ones. He loves the videos and doing all the interactive stuff. A little designer in the making! We have made some chocolate buns too and watched OH put up the outside lights. GD is due back in an hour or so. I think she and her friend have been shopping in Primark, a shop they love 😊
