Lizzie, you sound as though you've got your mojo back, thank goodness. Well done to GD1 on getting the job at Lidls and it's good the new one will be so close to home for her. Your GDs are very busy bees and seem to have lots of interests, plus, of course, spending time with their Gran, who doesn't spoil them in the slightest.

I've had a fairly lazy afternoon - I think the last week or so has caught up with me. OH and I were saying at lunch time the tiredness seems to kick in two days after a very busy day. Sunday was full on, but we both felt fine yesterday. Today is a different matter. I hope I'm back to "normal" tomorrow.

While I was out with the dog this morning the surgery rang. They won't leave a message with OH, so I had to ring them back. I spent over two minutes listening to all their procedures on getting an appointment and was then in a queue of 4 to speak to a real person. I hung on and hung on, increasingly irritated by the recorded message that for minor ailments I could go to the pharmacist and should really be reading all the news etc on their website, whose name is about two miles long! Eventually a pleasant young man answered, only to tell me that my blood pressure from my recent MOT was ok, and to get another one in 12 months' time. Obviously I was pleased they thought it was ok (and I thought it was, too), but why couldn't they have sent me an email!

I agree Daisy, emailing would have been much easier. It's always a bit worrying when surgeries ask you to phone back, and needless in this case.

Lizzie, GC are worth spoiling Good news about your GD's job .

Dull miserable here with rain on and off.

DD1 stayed for a cuppa and chat when she came for GS. She's back working, just on a part time basis for now and seems a lot better.
OH is having dinner at the golf club tonight so I am home alone. I decided to order a pizza delivery. The pizzas from our local place are so good! I'm full now, and some left for OH's lunch tomorrow as I will be lunching out.

          Good morning.
Looking a bit dull. Don't know what the forecast is for today.

Daisy, they didn't come for a meal, but we drunk loads of tea with cakes and biscuits.
Sending an email would have been too easy.

Lizzie ,so pleased your GD got the job.

Dinner is chicken stew with dumplings.

            Morning all
I have been AWOL these past few days because of the dreaded hayfever
It has been particularly challenging this year, in fact it seems to get worse as each summer goes by Apart from the obvious vicious sneezing which is so intense I end up with bloodshot eyes but this year I have the added joy of pulled muscles around my ribcage so every sneeze and cough is agony.
Happily yesterday was a huge improvement but not before I had to cancel my hair appointment and my hairdresser can't fit me in until two weeks time

Yesterday OH decided to tackle the overgrown ivy that's growing around the trees that boarder our garden with the tennis club. I felt that I should go outside and help him but not before I had taken every precaution that I could to ovoid the pollen.
            Eye drops ...check
            Nasal spray...check
            Visor cap....check
            Face mask...check
I then went outside only to find that OH and our next door neighbour getting on with the job . Between them they had taken down most of the ivy so I sat on the bench cheering them on as it were.

Lizzie48 congratulations to your GD1 on getting the job at Lidi.

I also get annoyed/frustrated when having to contact our surgery via the phone. When the phone call is eventually answered we also get the usual long list of rubbish (oops I mean useful information) , you can contact via messenger or email, ( tried that, I've never had a reply) If you are calling about repeat prescriptions please order them via the app. If you are calling about physio please call back later. If you are calling about test results, please call back later. If your ringing about a life threatening injury or medical condition dial 999 (Do we really need to be told this?)
We then get to , all our lines are busy at the moment. Please call back later. Not even a mention of an appointment in all that spiel!

There now I've had a good rant I'm off to make a cup of tea

Bring me sunshine in your smile.

              Good morning everyone.

              What a cute kitten Nan2

Mimi, Ivy really takes over doesn't it? We battled with it constantly at my previous house.
My theory is a lot of Drs practices hope we will all die or go private to reduce their lists to nil!

Aquafit this morning. Then I was to meet my friend in town for lunch. Sadly their dog has been poorly and had terrible night and they think she will have to be put to sleep today
(This is the friend who you know Lizzie.)

Some good news after the sad news about my friends dog.
GD, who didn't make it in into school yesterday (the first day after her half term) went this morning without incident!

                    Morning ladies

                    Mimi
Horrible time of year for you , my SIL he suffers terribly with it , has done since a child, it’s like boots chemist in their house this time of year .
Ivy is lovely but very invasive, B been cutting back and killing some off each week on his Mams back fence ,
Her garden backs onto a communal piece of ground that is not well maintained so everything pops through the fence .

                    Gem
How sad for your friends dog , never easy letting go as you know x
Good news about GD though , a good day for her I hope she copes ok and doesn’t over think things today so she can enjoy being with friends xx

                    Nanto
                    Chicken stew sounds nice ,
We ended up with Shepherd's pie done with the lamb mince last night rather than Koftas ,it was nice but not my favourite thing to eat .

Men coming to change the car charger point today it’s playing up ,
DD and GS coming over with the dog ,
B wants to take me out for tea but I’m not bothered either way to be honest but there is a place we always have a nice meal so maybe go there .

Its cooler than it has beeen but forecast better after lunch .

Good Wednesday morning, everyone. It's cloudy and heavy here at the moment, but hopefully it will improve later.

Mimi, I sympathise with you, although I'd love to see a photo of you dressed for battle with the elements. Constant sneezing is exhausting enough without having pulled muscles to add to the agony, and having to wait an extra two weeks for the hairdresser. As for the doctors' surgery messages, what I want to know is when do we get to this magical "later" when all calls will be answered by a real person and dealt with immediately. Our surgery has done a complete turn about and now issues all kinds of sanctions if you ask for a telephone appointment instead of a face-to-face!

Gem, I'm so pleased your GD has made it into school today, and hope the day goes well for her. It's so sad when you have to say goodbye to a beloved pet - I feel for your friend. x

I have a love/hate relationship with ivy in the garden. It's a great natural resource for wildlife but when it starts to take over the whole garden it looses its appeal! We've had ivy die quite spontaneously - unless neighbours have put weed killer on it from the other side.

Nanto, you make my mouth water - I haven't had dumplings for ages! Enjoy.

I don't know yet whether we will have dog training today. The village hall where we meet was closed yesterday because of an infestation of flies (). I don't think the dogs will be very happy if it reeks of whatever chemicals they've used to deal with it.

Oma, our posts crossed. I hope the car charger gets fixed properly - otherwise you'll end up pushing the car!!! . Go on, go out for tea and enjoy yourselves. Birthdays only come round once a year! Have a lovely day. xxx

Oma, I agree with Daisy, let your man spoil you. I didn’t realise you had an electric car, how are you finding it?

Gemini, I hope your GD’s day at school goes well for her.

Nanto, I don’t remember the last time I had dumplings, my mother used to cook them on top of a stew, mmmmm

Mimi, what a horrible time you have with hay fever. I would love to have seen you going into battle.

I feel so lucky with my doctors surgery after reading your experiences. Yes we do have to listen to a recorded message but I have a registered doctor. If it is not urgent I might have to wait a a week to see someone. The receptionists are very helpful and friendly.

We got it in March its very comfy and it gives us about 250 mile on one charge , very cheap too
Unfortunately the new charger that came this morning has the same fault , Bit of a hassle the young man that came to fit it rang to say he was sitting outside number 5 but couldn't see ours . B said your not as we only 2 doors up and I can't see you are you in the right place Yes this is where the sat navigation has brought me .
I said to B I bet he's not in Washington he's in Gateshead they have a Buttermere too
Sure enough he was 25 minutes away in Gateshead.
Got here fitted new charger and no different .
Then it wouldn't let B log into it via the app
Eventually got that sorted but now got to wait again for another one . It's working but taking longer than it should .

DD came with my gifts then GS turned up with a beautiful bunch of flowers ,
Didn't like to tell him I can't gave Lillies in the house and there were 3 in the bouquet.

I fed him as he's always hungry . He went off to play golf and I took the lillies out and put them in a little vase outside they can bloom out there 😁

Oma, have you tried pinching out the pollen stamens and the scented spike in the middle of the lilies?

What a nuisance, first he is in the wrong place and then fits another charger which doesn’t work.
