So much for my "back later" this morning. It seems to have been non-stop today! Then this evening I went to meet up with some old friends. The friend from Devon who came to dinner last night came and picked me up and we went to a local pub and met up with another two other friends from College and another mutual friend who I hadn't seen for ages.

We sat outside and had a lovely meal. This pub has a large play area (I was very tempted by the slide!) and there was a small group of children who will definitely have sore throats tomorrow, but they were very sweet and kept coming and talking to us. It was quite warm, and no rain so far. Plant - if the rain gets to you could you please send some on down to us, please? And Grauntie if you've had rain today, I'm sure you don't want even more tomorrow, so you could send yours over as well - pretty please?

Clover - how is your lady? She must miss her sister, and I wonder if the days go slowly without having her to care for.

Gem - your poor DD. I wish I could wave a magic wand for her to make her better. Please tell her we're all thinking about her. How did S's audiology appointment go today? Have they given her new hearing aids, and retested her hearing? It's awful that she has had to wait so long and there's still no improvement. I know you are already encouraging her to go privately, but please tell her I was getting to the stage where I didn't want to go to certain places or meet up with certain people, or (especially) groups of people because I knew I'd struggle to follow the conversation, let alone join in. Now I have no problem and in fact of the 5 friends at dinner tonight, 3 of us had got hearing aids and one, like S, is struggling. I showed her mine and how I can control them from my phone, and she couldn't believe how tiny they are.

Plant - at least the deer don't want custard with their cooked plums. I'm glad your tummy's better, but I hope that isn't a sickness bug going round that the GGCs have got.

Oma - it's amazing how well little Fin has recovered from such a poorly start in life. He sounds quite a character already. He's going to keep his mum and dad (and his Auntie Oma) on their toes.

Lizzie - your neighbour's daughter must be feeling awful with all this heat, plus worrying about the pregnancy generally after have so many miscarriages. You wonder how people can keep going through all that heartbreak. I hope she's and her baby are ok.

We had rain, thunder and lightning at 8pm! Huge cracks and flashes right overhead. The rain didn't last long enough to make much difference to the gardens.

The craft morning at the library went well, we had some lovely children and parents. I miss my days of working with children, and enjoy the odd occasion like this when I do

Daisy I'm glad you had a night out! I think the audiologist retuned OH's aids and she has a follow up appointment. I will certainly pass on your experiences if this doesn't help.

      Night ladies!

        Good morning to all.

Wet and dull this morning, and a bit cooler which is welcome.

Reflexology for me this morning, then after lunch a visit to my friend and ex neighbour T.
From there I will drive straight to DD3's. I am planning to give her a reflexology treatment and some tlc, and see baby of course.

        Have a good day everyone.

            Morning Gem / ladies
last night we had 5 minutes of fine drizzle that was it ,
Its very dull now but so warm
Had a cool shower but I still feel sticky warm .

            Gem
Hope your DD feels more relaxed after her reflexology and you also

            Daisy
Bs hearing aids are like yours they were not cheap but if I don’t have to keep repeating myself or repeating what others have said to the point of strangling him I don’t mind the cost 😁
I can just picture you going down that slide 😂😂😂

Drs at 11 so will pop back later xx

Good Tuesday morning everyone. A huge 'thank you' to Plant and Grauntie for sending us some RAIN! It started about an hour ago and is steady - good rain for what we need. If it's still raining in a few days I might, of course, be sending it back to you, but it's very badly needed here at the moment.

Gem - hopefully giving your DD a reflexology treatment will help her to relax which I'm sure will help her feel better generally. Please give little E a cuddle from Auntie Daisy. How is your friend T?

Oma - that sticky heat must be trying. Take it easy. Talking about hearing aids with the friends last night, and comparing prices, I was quite pleased to find that my 'good' ones were several hundred pounds cheaper than the other friend's. But I totally agree - they're worth every penny and I am now trying to persuade OH to have his hearing retested! I hope you get some useful help at the doctors. xx

Nanto - it will be lovely to see your GD2. It sounds as though she's working very hard so she'll be glad to relax for a while. Is she coming for a meal?

I'm going to catch up with the few chores today and I might (only "might") do some ironing.

I must be lucky with my aids, although I would like them to be smaller they seem to be tuned in well.

Gemini, I think your DD will be pleased to have some reflexology. I used to love my job at the school dealing mostly with art and craft, I gather they don’t get much of that now.

Daisy, you busy socialite, I used to have lovely meet ups with my school work friends but since Covid they seem to have dropped off, I must start rounding them up again.

We we didn’t have any rain, not a drop. Forecast says we might have some today, pigs might fly, It is very dull and much cooler.

Nanto, enjoy your visit from GD.

I don’t need to go out today, baby H will be next door so I will see her at some time. We are facing a hose pipe ban next week so I am trying to keep the pots going. The geraniums and the begonias are fairing the best the hydrangeas in pots are having a struggle.

Good morning, so humid here after the heavy rain last night, I don't think it did much for the plants though.

I have just been to the neighbour to see how her daughter got on yesterday, she has to cope another 3 weeks and they will start her off on Sept 6th, or C section maybe.

I have taken my (favourite) shoes to the shoe maker to get stitched, he is a Turkish man and is very good with shoes etc, he was telling me he has had a very difficult few years because of the Covid, he thought he would have to stop, luckily he is back on the rise, he sells quite a few items so I expect that will help.

The aid I have now I can adjust through the app, this one has a battery and it is much easier to change than I expected it to be, our insurance covers this. I must say I don't always have it in, I do in company, on the bike is a no go!

Gem, enjoy your visit to DD3.xxx

                      Been to Drs ,
She took swabs from my mouth and arranged bloods for next week
Said hair loss could be a vitamin deficiency or thyroid but if nothing comes back I just have to put up with it as it could be a normal age thing .
I will wait for results if nothing shows I will insist on seeing maybe a dermatologist, if they then say nothing can be done fine but I won’t just accept it ,
Im not worried about maybe having to wear a wig or some covering if it got really bad but I want to know I explored every avenue
Shes a lovely Dr mind you and was very sympathetic but was limited what she could do as they are not allowed to prescribe anything for hair loss without something showing on blood tests ,
She has sent a prescription to the chemist for something for my mouth till swabs come back , they will deliver that this afternoon.

Many years ago we were in Turkey and watched a man making shoes in a little side street , he was making patchwork shoes from little scraps of leather ,
He was so skilled and they looked beautiful , he had a little sewing machine for leather that looked 100 years old but it did it’s job and he finished them by hand , such talent and cheap too .

Plant and I can rejoice as we have rain......well I assume it's been raining at Plant's which isn't too far away from me!

Doggo had the quickest pee ever.....I don't think he realised how heavy the rain was! Poor old boy! I'm keeping fingers crossed there's no thunder because he goes into panic mode. Adaptil diffuser on and he's had a pill, so hopefully that'll keep him relatively calm. Spoke too soon, rumble of thunder and he's shaking like a leaf.

Oma, hope you find out what's causing the problems before too long. It's a b***** this getting old.

Proper cobblers are hard to find in this country, apart from Timpsons. We used to have one in Ely who could mend anything, but he retired. I took my espadrilles to Timpsons to get new soles and was told in no uncertain terms that they couldn't be mended. the chap on Ely had done them without any problem!

Enjoy the rest of the day ladies! Keep dry if you've got the rain! xx

Believe you can and you're halfway there.

This man was on holiday the last few weeks and I went through my mind wondering where I could find another one, I have no idea really as so many cobblers have closed over the years.

WG, One clap of thunder and a few drops of rain that is all we had although it has cleared the air and we are promised some rain later. Pigs might fly but fingers crossed.

Oma I hope the results of the blood test show that some medication can put things right

I haven’t needed shoes mended for years and years.

It's years since i had any shoes mended at the cobblers.

We haven't had any rain yet today.
Turned cool now and i think the breeze will blow a bit of rain up.
