Gem - our posts crossed. Enjoy your free day, especially if you can get out and it's not raining.

Nanto - I meant to say the graphic was lovely, too - dachshunds are such big personalities in little doggies.

Lovely relaxing day for you Daisy after all your entertaining over Christmas.

Nanto love the graphic, I would love one

Oma, I hope all of your family will be free from the virus soon. Good luck with getting that bed runner today.

Gemini, enjoy your free day, apart from the mulled wine. Recorded programmes are very enjoyable atm, it is always rubbish TV in the time between Christmas and New Year.

I must pop out and get some food today, my fridge is looking empty, it is mainly fresh stuff I need.

Lizzie, take care walking in that strong wind, it is very quiet weather here atm.

Oma, I did put the table runner on my table unfinished. I am nearly there, a couple of good sessions will see it finished.

Good morning, very blustery west day here. DD just popped my shopping over and left it on the step and we had a socially distanced chat. GS is feeling fine, was a bit f,hey the first day but is ok now. He’s fed up more than anything having to isolate. I didn’t need much shopping, fruit and veg and milk really.

I have finished GDs. blanket, just need to do the border and that’s it, It’s been a good project for the year but will be nice to get started on something smaller.

I have just got back from a Waitrose shop, it was very busy in there, people buying party food.

I expect there are a lot of people doing that today Plant.
We have takeaways on NYE, and already have nibbles and drinks in, so no shopping needed for us.

I have had a nice lazy day.
I made the mulled wine to reheat tomorrow night, and made some vegetable soup. I had some of that for lunch.

I have been relaxing catching up with TV and The Archers the rest of the time.

Hello everyone I hope you all had a good Christmas.

Plant I did receive a message from you on messenger but I assumed that your Facebook account had been hacked. Have you been able to change your password and reported it? Hope it's all OK now.

Surprisingly we had a lovely Christmas. We went to DS's and DIL's for Christmas day . When the presents were being given out DS said our present was outside in the garden. Myself and OH were ordered to close our eyes whilst we were led outside. We were told to keep our eyes closed until we were told to open them . I could hear a lot of mumbling and giggling, mostly coming from GS and GD .
We were then told to open our eyes and in front of us was a beautiful handmade Jack and Jill bench ( the sort with a table in the middle) . It had a huge red bow draped across it .
Our sneaky DIL had been in our back garden a few weeks ago taking pictures and measurements to ensure that the bench would fit in the garden.

On Tuesday DD SiL and GS's came from Wales and DS and DIL popped over also, bringing the bench with them, (DS has a big van fortunately).
This was the first time in over 2 years that they have been together. It was wonderful but it still hurts that eldest DS will never be part of family reunion.
Youngest GC were very excited, it was like having Christmas day all over again!

Tomorrow eldest DS is coming here for the day. He has been working all over Christmas but he has got the next few days off.

Daisy you are right about the washing, it does pile up. I can't believe where it comes from, thereare only two of us here for goodness sake

Has anyone taken the decs down yet, ours are still up, in fact the tree is lit up at this very minute
Bring me sunshine in your smile.

                      Evening everyone.

I have arrived safely at DDs for hopefully a couple of weeks. Journey went as planned but took half an hour longer than usual due to engineering works which I knew would happen. DD met me at Paddington and we got a taxi to King’s Cross for the train to Digswell. A treat instead of fighting the tube. The train from Swansea was only half full.

DD is still,(fingers crossed ) going ahead with the panto she has been directing. Just got to hang on with no hiccups (Covid related)until first performance on Saturday She’s worked so hard ,as has everyone else it would be devastating if something happened and it had to be called off.

Mimi what a thoughtful gift. One hopefully you can put to good use in the New Year.

Hope you’re all having a quiet evening.

That is a good present Mimi. I would be very happy!
Ours decs are still up and will be until into the new year. We usually take them down on 12th night

Good to hear that you are safely at your DD's now Clover .

Had one or two visitors today.
DS1 called to show us his new car.
DS2 popped in for his dad to do a job on his bike frame.
The rest of this year will just be normal days for us.
Decorations will be taken down on saturday. If i had my way, they would be down now.
Best news is,we had some sunshine again today.

Clover - I'm so glad you arrived safely, and fingers crossed for your DD's panto. I see our village one has been postponed.

Mimi - what a wonderful gift, and how thoughtful that they've made sure it will work in your garden. I'm so sorry your family hasn't been all together, but it sounds as though DD and DS2 and their families made up for it a bit. Never say never. One day I hope everyone will get back together. Have a good day tomorrow with DS1.

Nanto - I'm itching to take the decorations down, but we leave them until after New Year's Day, sometimes until Twelfth Night. Doesn't a bit of sunshine do you good!

Enfys - I'm glad your GS is feeling fine.

Gem - mulled wine - wonderful! I'm sure you've done a bit of sampling. It's essential to check it out regularly just to be on the safe side!

Plant - I'm glad you have nearly finished your table runner, and how nice that you were finally able to use it.

Lizzie - did you have a nice relaxing afternoon?

Oma - well done in tracking down the runner you wanted. Are you pleased with it?

I'm busy making puds for tomorrow night. In fact I ought to get back to it, but I needed a quick break! I did a bit more work on my hare painting this afternoon but gave up when my shoulder and back started aching.

Tomorrow morning I've offered to take a lady in the village up to the paddock where we exercise Eva off lead. She has recently adopted a wirehaired Viszla and wants to check what her recall is like. The owners of the paddock are away, but I'm sure they won't mind this one-off. She sounds a lovely dog with a very sad past, so I'd like to help if I can. Eva will get a good run as well, of course.

Good morning everyone, I think the wind has dropped, it is so warm it is unbelievable, last weekend was -5, now +15!

DS2 and DIL are coming for lunch, I am busy sorting the spare room out and he will help with the last things in the cupboard. I will go to the shop early and get what I need for lunch.

Mimi, that does sound like a wonderful gift, if it is as warm as it is here you will be able to sit out in the garden today.

I see you have Scoupy in the UK as well, I don't use it very often but I order a beauty box now and again for myself and for GD1, they arrived yesterday and well worth the money, GD1 phoned me to thank me and she is delighted with everything. It is all very good quality and worth the money. Sorry, just had a look and it isn't the same in the UK as here.

Oma, do you like the runner?

Daisy, I got some sewing done yesterday afternoon, had to take my favourite trousers in as I was losing them. I hope you enjoy your outing to the paddock, I had a dog 20 years ago as Gem knows, I did a puppy training with him and I found all the certificates yesterday, he (we) did so well, all very good.

Nanto, my Christmas things were packed in the box the other day, I was at a neighbours to take the flowers the other day and she showed me her decorations etc, so many, I think she will need a week to get them all packed away.
