WG, pleased you found the light timer and that it worked. I love to get a good blow at the seaside, very invigorating.

Oma, it reminds me that we always used to buy a toblerone when returning from a foreign holiday. Enjoy your meal.

Pleased the dental check up went well Daisy, your dentist will not be retiring yet. No frost here.

Gemini, I too was pleased with the bake-off result. My lips are sealed.

Good morning everyone, dull here, it was sunny yesterday, we can't order it though can we!!!

I have been to the market for my bag of vitamins, as the man calls it! We were comparing prices and how much fruit etc I could buy for the price of one packet of cigarettes or even a few gallons of petrol.

Oma, B would be eating toblerone for a few days if he got that in his stocking. Enjoy the garden centre and the lunch.

I love those old fashioned sweet shops Oma, there was one at Beamish and when I was in Haworth 3 years ago there was one opposite the cottage I was in, my father had a very sweet tooth, as thin as a rail with it though, I saw all the sweets he used to buy.. One story about him, he was a lorry driver and years ago they carried for Rowntrees of York, they could buy bags with "mis-shapes" in for next to nothing, he always brought a bag home but one day he put the bags next to his seat and eat the lot on his way home, he was so sick when he arrived home that he never did that again.

WG, enjoy your few days on the coast. Even if it is cold and windy you can enjoy the coast.

Gem, a good thing someone handed your phone in, I found one on the road just the other week, complete with bank cards and driving license etc, I recognised the man in the photo, he lives in the flat opposite me so I took it to him, he was just on his way out to look for it so he was very pleased I had found and all in one piece as well. If a car of lorry had gone over it it would have been a different story.

        Timer worked!!!

A dreich day here, not inspired to do anything really.

Text from DS, it looks as if they may be going into full lockdown again, so he's coming back on Saturday before, as he says, he's stuck there for ever! I'd best go and clear his room of all the stuff I've left in there and get the winter duvet on his bed. Not sure if he'll have to isolate or not this time. I know he'll have to take a test after a couple of days. I was just getting used to his not being around, now I'll have to get the fridge stocked up again!!!

Bake off winner was the one I'd picked, but the other two were very good too.

Hopefully going to see OH today. Won't mention DS coming back, will leave it as a surprise for him.

Oma, I always felt I was half way home when we reached Scotch Corner! Then we had to decide which way to go, over to the West or carry on straight up!

Have a good day ladies. xx

I like coconut mushrooms Oma. I hope you have nice lunch.
I'm glad the timer worked WG! I hope DS arrives before he gets locked down.
Lizzie, most people, like ourselves are honest and would hand things in. There is always the odd dishonest person though. I suppose I had a better chance of getting my phone back as it was a village hall and the only people there were the instructors or parents/grandparents of the children. It has taught me not to keep my bank cards in there however. I started that last year, as we were only paying by card. I need to start taking my purse out again and remove cards from my phone.

Oma, your trip to the farm shop is certainly jinxed.
Good to get the boiler fixed.

That was very nice of you to help me in Birmingham Oma, I am usually okay if I have a rail. I remember the sweet shop but can’t remember what I bought. If my OH had been alive it would have been liquorice.

Sorry yet again you were unable to get to the farm shop yet again.

Oma, that brought back memories of a sweet shop in a large town near where I was brought up. There was a sweetie shop and they used to display the sweets in little dishes in the window. My dad always bought chicken ,potatoes and peas which were made out of marzipan! He used to like coconut mushrooms too! Mum used to get a bag of peanut brittle to help her get through the ironing! I used to love Macaroon bars, tablet and fudge and toffee. I think it was McEwen's and it used to stick to your teeth! No wonder we had such bad teeth in my youth!

Had a phone call from my DB this morning asking if they could come down and help celebrate our Golden Wedding next month. They'll fly down on the Friday and back on the Monday. We can have a little celebration at the home with OH and then go out for a meal in the evening. Needless to say I said yes, but I was in tears when I put the phone down. I haven't dared plan anything for the day itself, just in case, but it was such a lovely thought.

OH was sound asleep this afternoon. I tried to wake him, the nurses tried but there was no reaction whatsoever! Luckily I had a meeting with the staff, so it wasn't a wasted journey. I left him some biccies and a new magazine and they'll let him know that I'd been in.....when he wakes up.

The timer works, yay! Not quite so worried now that DS is coming back, all the lights will be on then!

Turning colder now, heating on to warm the house and me ,up before I settle down for the night. Have a good evening ladies xx

A shame OH didn't see you.

Hello from me - late in the day. It seems to be a bit of a habit at the moment.

It was very cold and frosty this morning. I took Eva out about 7.30 and was so glad I'd wrapped up warm, but felt a bit guilty I hadn't put Eva's coat on her - but she was full of beans, channelling her Labrador genes. A friend of mine always called this bright very cold weather Labrador weather because it seemed to make them very bouncy!

There were only 4 of us at French this morning, but we had a good lesson - talking about food and "ordering" meals in cafes! I confessed I hadn't done my homework.

Dog training was cancelled because Pam, the trainer isn't well - fortunately I saw the message before driving over there. So I sat down with an extra cup of tea, heating on, snuggled under a cosy throw and fell asleep!

OH and DS1 still haven't quite finished the greenhouse, so OH has stayed up there for tonight, hoping to finish it off tomorrow.

Nanto - glad to hear your new phone is all set up.

Oma - OH rang this morning to say sorry, he'd picked up both toothbrushes! Your GS1 will be delighted with his present - and I'm sure he would guess what it was even if you did waste all that wrapping paper!

WG - pleased to hear the timer is working. Some days, you just don't feel like doing anything, do you. I hate this cold weather - I just want to sleep. I'm sure human beings must have hibernated at some time in our past. I hope your DS doesn't have to isolate. Having him home again will be a nice surprise for your OH - and your fridge. It will be lovely to have your brother and sister-in-law down for your anniversary week-end. Something else nice to look forward to. xx

Plant - there's something about sea air, isn't there! I'm sure it does you good.

I remember going into the sweet shop at the Backs in Birmingham. I wandered round while everyone else Oooh'd and Ahhh'd over the sweeties! I have no trouble saying 'no, thank you' to sweets! Although that huge Toblerone is a different matter!

A cold but sunny day is forecast.

                            Hairdresser coming this morning.
                            Otherwise,no set plans.

Good morning, Nanto and all who follow.

It's cold again here, but not quite as bad as yesterday. I'm going to get on with a huge pile of washing and try and ignore the ironing. My arm's still too painful to use the iron - not that I need an excuse!

                              I'll pop back later.

                                Good morning Nan2, Daisy, ladies.

Stay away from the iron Daisy.
WG, I can imagine how emotional you feel about your upcoming Golden Wedding.

DD3, the newly pregnant one, has woken to a broken boiler! As she works from home she will be spending the day here, and having a hot shower.
This afternoon my mum and I are going to DD2's for tea and cake. I will pick mum up from the care home and drive her, and her walking frame round there. A big day as she will see the GGC for the first time in almost two years. Children cannot go into care homes, but this is allowed. Crossing fingers all goes well. We have big Tesco delivery due at midday too, so a lot going on here!

I hope everyone has a good day. Sending love to anyone feeling under the weather or sad xxx
