Oh, Gem. Poor DD3. Boilers do choose their best moments to let us down. Glad she can take refuge at yours. I hope your mum enjoys her afternoon. It will be emotional for her seeing her GGCs after such a long time. xx

As soon as the bad weather hits, it puts a strain on the boilers Gem. I hope your DD3 has a warm house soon. Lovely idea to have a meet up with your Mum and GGC. Hope mum is in good spirits. Any news on the house sale?
I am going to fill up the car this morning and pop to get some birthday cards, I have their presents at the ready. I have been feeling very tired for several days, I suppose as a result of the two colds in a month but yesterday I felt a lot better and today I intend to go to bowls. I booked on line to speak to a doctor about the bad bruising on my arm and received a telephone appt. for the evening of the 22nd December at 7/7.15 in the evening, that is a month away!!! and it is only with a temporary doctor, what interest has he in patients he doesn’t know. I would really like to go back to taking warfarin but I don’t think that is on offer now.
Daisy, I bet it was very cold at 7.30 this morning, our retriever (sadly not with us anymore) would have loved it too. Is J expected back today?
Will pop back laterWhat is life if full of care we have no time to stand and stare

Good morning, Plant, having to wait until December 22nd is not good at all! Is there no other doctor that can give you advice?
Gem, enjoy the family visit with your mum.xx I hope DD3 soon gets the boiler repaired.
Daisy, just ignore the ironing!!
The sun is out now, I went to Delft market after the gym and it managed to rain, more drizzle but I got wet, my coat is waterproof but not the trousers, I had a warm shower when I got home.

DD has arrived, having had an early phone meeting at home. She is having shower now. OH and I will both be out this afternoon and no GC today, so a quiet workspace
Plant, its awful how long people are having to wait for appointments. No news on mums house, which I hope is good news and all is progressing as it should.“A grandchild fills a space in your heart that you never knew was empty.” – Unknown

Morning ladies ,
Im late this morning , After our showers we set to putting the Christmas lights up outside ,
Not to switch on yet but so that if the weather gets bad they are already done .
My fingers were numb holding the ladder and passing clips .
As I was already cold I decided to clear the leaves out of the boarders and from the grass ,
It needs doing properly but it looks a little better for the moment .
We had a hot drink to warm us up then B went off to his Mams to try sort her internet , it keeps playing up .
Plant that's a long time to wait , the Dr situation is getting worse isnt it ,
You are bound to feel tired after two colds so close together and it doesn't help this time of year when its darl all the time and so cold xxx
WG so nice your DB thought about your Anniversary , im sure you will be glad you celebrated when you do
Gem what a nice day for your Mum although I bet she is tired when you take her home , its lovely for the children too ,
A busy day for you
Poor DD and the boiler ,I sympathise with her ours can be a blooming pain in the bum come winter
Lizzie that drizzle seems to get you wetter than you expect doesn't it , You don't realise its soaking into you so quickly ,
Did you get all you needed at the market ?
Daisy rest that arm , the ironing can wait , you will just have to be a bit crumpled for a while
Have a good day ladies xx

Plant - that's terrible, that you have to wait a whole month for a telephone appointment with a temporary doctor. You can see why A&E departments are so busy - sometimes it's the only way people can be seen by a real, live doctor! Yes, OH should be back this evening. They can't quite finish the green house because the replacement pane of glass won't be ready for a few days. But he'll give DS1 a hand to get their large banana plants in there - better than being outside.
Lizzie - it's the unexpected showers that catch us out, isn't it. I'm sure you were glad of the warm shower. I'll try my hardest to ignore the ironing.
I need to drop some prescription forms off at the surgery, so I'll walk over there and take Eva with me. The sun's shining and it's very slightly warmer than earlier - all of 5C!!

Yes Oma, I only went for cheese and bread! I could have waited until the rain stopped but I like going early. I got a box yesterday from the next village, I was disappointed last time so had to give them another chance! This one was really good including meat and even sushi! I have one today from the Lidl then that is me satisfied for the week!
WG, what a lovely thought from your DB.xxx

The visit with my mum went really well. DD and SIL helped us up the few steps up to the front door and I took her walking frame for inside the house, which is fairly big. She loved seeing the family, she hadn't seen the GGC or my SIL for almost 2 years. They had lit the log fire which she really appreciated. She enjoyed two cups of tea and a piece of cake!
My GD was so lovely sensitive and patient with her, not reacting at all to my mum's constant repetitions, and the fact that she kept thinking GD was my DD3! GS2 was shy and reluctant to have cuddles, but was very sweet and showed her his Gold Card school award from last week and some of his books and toys.
DD plans to have mum round again before Christmas, with DDs1 and 3 coming too.
Still no plumber booked at DD3's“A grandchild fills a space in your heart that you never knew was empty.” – Unknown

Gem - I'm so glad the afternoon went very well. Your GD sounds such a kind, mature girl - you must be so proud of her. Your GS2 probably hardly remembers your mum - it's so long since he saw her. I hope DD3 doesn't have to wait too long to get a plumber.

A very early good morning from me this morning. Got lots going through my head, most of it unnecessary rubbish but what with restless legs and random thoughts sleep has eluded me for several hours.
What with the ongoing situation here with public transport I decided to book a taxi for next Wednesday afternoon to take us to the vaccination centre for our booster jabs. The lady on the 'switch' said it was a good idea to book early as they are very short of drivers at the moment and to get a taxi at short notice is almost impossible but on the plus side all journeys there and back for vaccines are free . The centre isn't very far from where we live but I still cannot walk very far without feeling very uncomfortable.
Gem sounds like you had a lovely time with your mum
Has anyone got a smart meter? We had one installed back in the summer, not because we believed the hype about being able to save money with it, it was because reading the gas meter, which is outside and inconvenient to access. With a smart meter we don't have to give actual meter readings now.
The thing is , the display monitor has been sitting quite happily in the cupboard next to the electric meter and I haven't taken alot of notice of it....until now..... Good grief, its not until you switch on the heating and have the lights on a lot earlier that you notice a hike in the amount of power that you use compared to the summer months.
It's no good worrying about it though, we don't have anything tuned on that we don't need and Iwe am absolutely certain that we am not going to sit down in a cold bungalow just to save money. ( Note to self, don't look at monitor when running the tumble dryer this morning)
Not much planned for today apart from Tesco delivery and the butcher delivery
Have a good day everyoneBring me sunshine in your smile.
