No snow here, thank goodness, it is a quiet day, no rain or wind. I am not planning to go out again today, I am well stocked up until my delivery on Monday.

Nan2 we have the same as it snowed heavily all day yesterday. However today there's been a low lying mist & you can hear the car tyres crunching over the icy road outside. Not that many cars have left their driveways today. Just seen the postie doing his rounds.... in shorts😱

DD2's school has closed today, (her children go as she's a 'front liner') saying it's a snow day. Plant, hope you enjoy your day at home.

Oh dear, it took me a while to get back onto this thread! It seems to have been a busy day.

Nanto - the owl made me smile this morning. They're beautiful birds. So pleased to hear MIL and FIL are doing ok.

Oma - wow, being in Tesco for 6.30 takes some beating, although some years ago I did a Christmas food shop at Sainsbury's at about 2 am! It was deserted as well. I bet Storm's got an amazing thick coat. I think Eva likes her fleece because it's comforting, like her thunder shirt - a bit like my GS1 likes his weighted blanket. Perhaps you could get Storm a saddle, then he can take you for a walk. For my GS2 this was his first lockdown birthday, because last year we all thought coronavirus would stay in China! How wrong we were. Anyway I think he enjoyed it and he says thank you to everyone for all the good wishes.

Gem, what a lovely day you had yesterday. I'm sure everyone loved it. Did you start sorting out the Christmas stuff for the loft today - or have a day off? I can imagine GS1 and his mum and dad have got a busy week-end ahead, getting ready for their exciting move.

Post Covid fatigue unfortunately sounds fairly common, but it's good to hear your Great Niece is feeling better Oma - and I hope Gem's friends are ok now.

Lizzie - some people just don't seem to feel the cold do they. But perhaps your neighbour can't cope so well with hot weather. I bet the bike ride in the cold blew the cobwebs away. It sounds as though Nan's postie is one of the hardy souls.

Nana - we never had 'snow days' when we were at school, did we. We just trudged in no matter what and put our dripping wet gloves round the coke burner guard to steam dry during lessons. I can remember that smell of drying wool to this day! Then playtime we were out building snowmen, snowballing, making slides and going back into class with tingling hands, feet and noses! Breaking the ice off the top of our little bottles of milk. At the grammar school we could have our milk heated and we used to take little tins of Bournevita and sugar to mix in. What luxury on a cold day.

We have posties who wear shorts all year round too. Perhaps its part of the Posties Code!!

Mind you we wore Mini skirts and Hot pants in the winter too with peep toed sandals

I believe the posties wear shorts all year round, because it's easier to dry bare legs than it is to dry trousers. So they're not stuck in wet clothes when they're doing their rounds.

LOL, no it was far from posh - just a girls' school in an industrial city! But it was on top of a hill, and boy was it cold! We'd get sent out to do games in all weathers in a flimsy t-shirt and tiny shorts. And they wondered why most of us hated hockey. But your'e right - we'd wear hot pants in January without a second thought!

WeeGranny - I hadn't thought of that. At one time they had to wear trousers in the winter - part of the uniform. I often chat to DS2's postie (in days gone by, when you could) and he says his regular round is about 15 miles every day. They deserve to be comfortable, don't they.

My goodness its cold tonight ,
we don't usually have the heating on in the bedrooms as I don't like it hot , but I have been up to put my PJ's on and its freezing so I have turned the radiators on to warm both bedrooms .
