Oma, my MiL was hard work and could be very awkward at times but I miss her - she was such a Character. You sound like you are very good and patient with yours. Haha, really don’t know why you can’t go to the makers and get the curtains... xx

FQ love her but she's a rude obnoxious acid tongued loud and bossy woman who at 86 is never going to change .
Over the years you get used to her but to strangers when she's telling them they are fat or doesnt like what they are wearing it can be a case of let the floor open up type of situation .
Lost count how many times i have apologised for her , she cant see what she does is wrong
We would miss her if she wasnt here though ,
She can put this show on to others like she's this lovely old lady till you know her hahaha
Anyway from tonight we are in partial lock down so cant go do her curtains her DD will have to do them she only lives across the road to her so part of her allowed bubble .Im not fat just 6ft too small

Good morning Nan2, Oma, everyone!
It's a nice one here too Nan2.
My heart sank for you Oma, when I heard of the new lockdown. Just go to the supermarket or pub at the same time as your family. That will be SO much safer than seeing them in your house or garden
This morning I will go to the supermarket. We don't go often, but could do with a few things.
School run for GD and GS2 today, bringing them back here. This won't necessarily be a regular weekly thing now DD and SIL work from home, in the same village as the school, rather than two miles from where I live. The children would miss if if it stopped completely and so would I.
I hope everyone feels well and has a good day.“A grandchild fills a space in your heart that you never knew was empty.” – Unknown

Good morning everyone. Yes, it's another lovely day here as well.
Oma - I hope your local (or not so local) lockdown doesn't last long. Take care. I must admit I'm losing track of who can do what or go where.
I need to get on with some housework today and also mow the lawn - it's beginning to look like a jungle out there!

I think we might all be in the position you are in now Oma if the numbers don't go down. I have been to Waitrose today, there was a queue because there was a hold up on the check-outs. By the time I got in it was so quiet. Passed my DD in her car, she was on her way to Waitrose. I went into a cafe close by to get a coffee and a hot chocolate for the Big Issue lady.
Your Mil sounds quite a character but very annoying and embarrassing.
I am enjoying listening to James Blunt today on my Alexa but I must stop dancing and get on with my knitting. What is life if full of care we have no time to stand and stare

Good afternoon lovely ladies. Internet was down this morning and has been on and off since - very frustrating! What did we do before?? Oma, your post made me laugh! Your MiL sounds very cantankerous but you sound patient with her. My MiL could be quite caustic- I remember her poking my brother in law in the stomach and saying ‘you are fat’ honestly I couldn’t believe it😅
Plant, nothing wrong with dancing to music- I do it all the time in my kitchen!
just waiting to hear if we are going into another lockdown of sorts. This seems never ending doesn’t it? Have a good evening everyone. XxLast edited by Fairyqueen; 18-09-2020, 03:45 PM.

Fairyqueen, I was wondering if you were in one of the various Greater Manchester lockdown areas. I hope not!
I think Oma is very patient with her MIL, and sounds as though you were the same with yours, FQ. I was so lucky, my MIL was a lovely person in every possible way. She was always full of fun, very wise, always helping people, and cared for Taid (her own dad) for many years, and then my FIL when he developed Alzheimers.
My day has been largely spent dealing with yet more problems with selling my cousins David's house. The buyers assured us they could complete within a couple of weeks 3 months ago! We'd finally agreed on completion on Monday, and now their buyers can't complete on that date because, because ...! Our patience is wearing very thin, but to be fair we don't think it's our buyer's fault - it's elsewhere in the chain. It would be a bit easier if we weren't 4 ½ hours away, but not much! We were also waiting to hear the results of DS1's angiogram. We've had better days!

Good morning everyone.
I hope all are well this morning.
Daisy your cousin's house sale must be a real pain for you. As you say, these things are bad enough when you live nearby. DD and SIL1 sold their Glasgow flat after moving here, and that was a pain.
Today I will go to see my mum at 2.30. This is of course dependant on her being willing and able to come outside. We will miss the nice hour long (and I was never asked to leave after the hour was up) hospital chats inside at close quarters. It will be a good day when indoor visits are allowed in the care home, although we all fear it is more likely to go the other way to be honest
Anyhow, let's not start the day and weekend on a negative note!
The sun is peeking through. Talk to you all again later

Good morning, I wasn't well yesterday, at all! The pain isn't from a pulled muscle, something internal, what I do not know but it was very painful yesterday. I even spent an afternoon watching Netflix!!! It feels easier today, I will keep a note of what I eat and see if that has any influence.
Gem, I hope your visit to your mum goes well, as you say, by the way things are going you won't know for how long visit's will be allowed.
Daisy, I hope the sale of your cousin's house is soon settled.
