Oh, Oma, I do hope M will be ok. That's such a worry for everyone.

I haven't mentioned GS2's prom yet, because I haven't heard anything about it except that he got home about 8 o'clock - the following morning! So I guess he had a good time. He's a very mature sensible lad which is good, because we would all have been worried about him otherwise.

Gem - DG1's new school house names are influential women - others include Rossetti and Shelley, but they're not all literary figures.

Enfys - it is lovely today - that bit of a breeze is very refreshing. It's lovely being pleasant enough to just potter round doing little jobs. I want to get the lawn cut today before it rains tomorrow. But I think you're right to keep moving to stop your hip seizing up.

Pleasant day here today, a nice breeze. Slept quite well at DS & Dil’s after an enjoyable Chicken Tika Masala made by DS & Dil. I spent the rest of today with GD and baby H, GD needed to go to a chemist and she didn’t have her car. Had lunch out and returned her home.

Your GC are growing up fast with proms and changing to senior schools.

Oma,what wonderful news, you can relax now.

Daisy good news that J doesn’t have to seen for some time.

Enfys sorry about your hip pain, does exercise help?

Plant, yes it eases off after I’ve walked for a bit. It’s just very achey when I get up after sitting for a while. Classic arthritis I think.

Well we had a lovely meal out. Everyone enjoyed it.
We laughed until we cried. So nice to get everyone together.
Fools that we are,no-one took a photo.
It was too cool to sit outside, like we had hoped, but its quiye open where we were, and the breeze was chilly.

Oma, hope M makes a good recovery.

Enfys, hope you get some relif from the pain.

Gem, hope you have a lovely family day at the seaside tomorrow.

          Rain forecast for us tomorrow.

Nan2, I'm so glad to hear you had a lovely time. We are always forgetting to take photos too .
That sounds a very nice time for you Plant.
I have lots of sympathy for you with the arthritis Enfys. A pain free day would be wonderful.
I think your GS must have enjoyed his prom Daisy!

The year 6's seemed quite emotional at the end of the day. GD who is not prone to tears was very red eyed.

Enfys - it's good if exercise helps with your hip, and I'm glad you're feeling a bit better.

Nanto - it sounds as though you all had a really lovely time together. You'll have to take photos next time. xx

Gem - I think the Year 6s suddenly realise things will be very different come September. I don't suppose they are all going on to the same school either, so they may not see some of their friends like they do now. It's a big step towards growing up and lots of exciting but unknown changes ahead. I think it's hit our 7 year old GD as well. She's seeking a lot of reassurance in different ways even though most of her class will move on to the same junior school, and she knows some of the teachers because her big sister was there. I hope they all relax and have a good summer holiday with lots of fun and a chance to make up for the horrible lockdowns and restrictions.

We had a lovely afternoon with friends today. My friend is a brilliant cook and had made delicious rock cakes to have with our tea. Then we came home and I cut the lawn - it can rain now! Swept the front path and made a salad for dinner. I think this might be the last night to eat outside for a while, so made the most of it. Then Sainsbury's arrived - and I sent 5 substitutions back - a record for me!I must be getting a fussy old biddy!

By then it was quite a lot cooler so I took Eva for a walk and portioned up some dog food, and now it's definitely time for bed. Good night, everyone.

Daisy, your afternoon yesterday sounds lovely.

I don't think we will be able to eat outside for a while.

Looking overcast here. Torrential rain is forecast for some parts of the country.

Just supermarket shopping for us today.
If, there is anything on the shelves.

Good morning Nan2. I hope you get everything you need from the supermarket.
                  Good morning everyone else.

It's good to make the most of eating outside Daisy, as you say we can't predict how often it happens here!

This morning DD and SIl3 are coming to us and we will all drive to the coast in our car. The plan is to meet up with everyone on Filey beach at 11ish.
The party will consist of OH and myself, DD and GS1 (SIL1 has a close friend's memorial today ) DD and SIL2, GD and GS2, DD and SIL3, plus my DDs dad and OH. However, they are quite flaky when it comes to plans and this isn;t really their sort of day, so I predict a last minute cancellation from them. I hope I am wrong!
We are taking a picnic and generally hanging out on the beach There is also a paddling pool and playpark nearby, so plenty for the children. The sun won't shine, but that won't stop the fun

                  Have a good Saturday everyone.

Good morning, cooler here, well dull, thunder later on is the forecast.

That sounds like a great family day out Gem. enjoy it all!!

I am going for a bike ride, my kind of weather. I had a good meal at DS2 and Dil, he has actually got his studio fitted out, yet again, he is pleased with it all this time and it does look good.

I was talking to a neighbour on my way out, her hubby has prostate cancer, he has had it 10 years now and has taken part in trials etc, now he is fading fast. He hopes they can help him with chemo, I hope so for him but have my doubts. She was saying how heavy shopping is etc now she does it all on her own. I was driving home and remembered I had a shopping trolley in the garage, one of two actually, I use one to bring heavy shopping up here, I took it to her when I got home, she was so pleased with it, said it would be very handy, it will as well.

                    Have a good day everyone.

We had rain in the night, I hope that isn’t the end of the sunshine, not so hot though. DD and Sil back today, not sure what time. Had fun with baby H and GD1 yesterday, baby H is almost crawling, getting very frustrated, she is such a scream, always smiling.

Gemini, your family day on the beach sounds fun.

Lizzie, I am sure your friend will appreciate your kindness.

Gem have the best of days , sun might not be out but its warm , fingers crossed the coast is too .

Lizzie that was kind Im sure she will use it well

Daisy it sounds a lovely afternoon , I like Rock cakes haven't had any in a long time ,

Nanto its a game of luck at the moment some supermarkets are well stocked some are not , Morrisons Yesterday was full but Sainsburys had lots of gaps .

Plant how was GD and Baby H she must be growing fast now , when do the family come home ?

We had a small BBQ last night as its not forecast too good for next week so as everyone is saying opportunity to eat outside will be limited ,
I did sit and have Breakfast outside this morning as although its dull its very warm .

We popped down the road to Iceland and Lidl this morning for a few bits ,

I really didn't want to get out of bed this morning the lack of sleep is catching up with me but I made myself get up and have a shower to waken myself up .

B cleaning the oven at the moment then GS1 is coming over to talk cars with Grandad ,

The money we have been saving for all 3 since they were born will pay for his first car ,
We did intend for them to get their money when they are 18 but he is 17 in September and really wants to pass his test and drive .

This job is daytime so ideal and its in a Depot just at the top of our estate so if he wants to he can come here for lunch .

Im not fat just 6ft too small

Good Saturday morning from the storm-lashed south coast! We had a massive thunderstorm last night. Of course it woke, and terrified Eva, who woke OH, who woke me! I'm sure I would have slept through it otherwise, but it went on and on and even when the thunder stopped the lightning was still flickering round for ages. OH went down and made us a cup of tea and we got back to sleep a couple of hours later. This morning it's dull, heavy and I hate to say this but the horse chestnut tree outside our house is beginning to look autumnal.

A disturbed night like that makes me wonder how those grannies who don't sleep well get by. I know I'll feel shattered all day today.

Gem - I do hope the weather holds for your family day on Filey beach. Being a bit cooler is probably a good thing, but you don't want a storm. Did you make any buns for the picnic?

Oma - Hopefully you will catch up on sleep tonight. It was a good idea to have a barbecue while the weather held. Well done to GS1 on getting a summer job. I'm sure he'll do very well. Driving lessons are so expensive these days, so having his own car to practice in will really help.

Plant - your quiet few days will soon be over, although I'm sure you will be pleased to have DD and SIL back next door. Baby H sounds delightful - I think 6-9 months is the very best baby stage and they seem to be learning something new every day and everything is an adventure for them.

Lizzie - it was very kind of you to offer your neighbour the trolley. It will make a big difference to her shopping, and she must be very sad seeing her OH's health deteriorate.

Nanto - shopping is a bit of a lottery at the moment. I'd never had so many substitutions on my Sainsbury's order as yesterday. But at least we got pods for the coffee machine which had been out of stock for the last two weeks!

                            Have a good Saturday, everyone.

Good morning. So lovely and cool, I love it! Heard the thunder in the night but still slept well. Daisy, it’s not humid here at all, really fresh, maybe because we are near the coast. I feel so much more energised and think I’ll get a far bit done today.

This afternoon I am going with DD into her neighbours bungalow. This lady sadly passed away a little while ago, she was a lovely elderly lady who we both got on really well with. She has no family, only a cousin who lives a far distance away so DD always kept an eye on her and has been looking after the property whilst it is empty. It has now been sold and the cousin contacted DD to say they would like her to have something to remember B by so she can go in and choose anything. We thought that was so kind so I am going with her. It will be sad though.

its lovely that the garden has had a good soaking, everything is very green. We had notification yesterday that our green waste collection has been suspended so I don’t know what my gardener will do on Tuesday. There is a bit of space in the bin so we shall see. I think she is going to cut one of the hedges so we’ll get the shredder out and that will help.

Have a good day everyone ☔️

Lovely and cool here, if there was a storm I didn’t hear it but we did have rain but not enough to fill the small bird bath. I have swept the courtyard and not much else this morning, watching some Olympics atm. Not sure what time the family will be back, had a message from GS2 to see if I was here.
