Afternoon ladies! OH is still in hospital and according to the nurse he'll be there until Monday!!!!!So if you don't hear from me, I'll be off on the razzle dazzle! I wish!!
I spoke to him earlier and he seems quite cheerful, but not making a lot of sense. He says he's very tired which is only to be expected. The nurse I spoke to said he'd had awash and someone was sitting with him as he was'fiddling' with his drain. Doctor from hospital has just phoned, the plan is to reassess him for discharge after the weekend.

Plant, he had what is called a neck dissection where the nymph nodes on the left of his neck were removed as the melanoma had spread from his head there. he has a drip in and I think that's one of the reasons they're keeping him in.

Daisy and Plant, a district nurse would be wonderful, but our surgery is in such dire straits that I doubt they'll have one. If it is difficult to dress I will ask though!

Have been to the hygienist this morning and my gnashers are super clean now!

Got my chores done yesterday, tip and Emmaus, but didn't do a lot else. Spoke to my DB and Sil and brought them up to date with things. Apart from Waitrose delivery later today and DD arriving at some point, nothing planned.

    Lovely photo Granny Mary!

Sending love to all those feeling down or under the weather xx.
Believe you can and you're halfway there.

I'm back for a catch up!

Enfys and WeeGranny - I'm glad you both survived the dentist/hygienist.

Enfys - the day started lovely, but we had a real downpour. It was much needed, but came literally two minutes after the window cleaner had left! Typical. I hope you didn't get caught in it. Well done in braving Tesco, and have a lovely time this afternoon at your friends. Your poor DD. I'm sure she must be feeling sore and fed up. I hope she's soon better, but she does need to rest. What colour are you painting the kitchen?

Glamm - many congratulations to your DS1. It's a lot of responsibility, so you must be very proud of him, and they must think very highly of him. Wish him lots of luck from us Grannies. I bet you never thought his nocturnal habits would be so useful. My OH also had to have laser treatment after cataract surgery and it was just as Gem said. I hope you can enjoy your little one's birthday, even though you will also be feeling very sad. But I'm sure as he grows older he will always feel special because he shared his birthday with John. Sending hugs. xxx

Oma - did you expect any other response from your MIL? You'd be worried about her if she changed into a smiley, complimentary angel. I wonder what she'll say to M & C.

Plant - it's quite unusual for you to have a sleepless night, isn't it. I hope you're not too tired today.

Lizzie - both OH and I have been a bit tired this week after our second jab. We've also been busy with various things and have had to be up and about early every day, which isn't natural for either of us! I hope the tiredness hasn't come back this afternoon - that's when it usually strikes us. I hope the new compressions sleeves are ok. My face is still very sore and red. Just one more week of cream, and then hopefully it will start to improve. I certainly wouldn't win any beauty contests at the moment!!

Gem - we've wondered about going back to doing our own shopping once our second vaccinations have kicked in. It's nice not to have to do it ourselves, and it's a relatively long way so at least 2-3 hours for a big shop, but you do get to choose good dates on perishables. That's my only gripe about deliveries!

I don't seem to have done much (apart from a bit of beavering away in GRU's back office!) but the window cleaner finally turned up today. We were getting worried about him but he says last time he came the scaffolding was still up so he didn't knock. Always pleased to see him, and he kindly cleaned the greenhouse roof inside and out as well. The greenhouse looks much better for it.

Glamm, congratulations to your DS for his promotion. It will be a bitter-sweet time for you but the little ones always help.

Oma, you are very good not walking out again when you get that reception from your Mil. some elderly people don't see anyone at all and can't get out.

WG, that sounds quite invasive treatment for your OH, I hope he will heal soon. Enjoy your time with your DD, treat yourselves.

Grauntie, how are you feeling today, you are amazing keeping up with our Word game when you have been so poorly.

Been to opticians this afternoon, need to update my specs. I have had them four years so my eyes haven't changed much. Cataract hasn't changed much but I need to use eye drops as my eyes go smeary quite a lot. Going back in a week to choose glasses, I will be sending the hat around.

Must go and start the meal and it is nearly time for a G&T.

Going into town today. I haven't been in our own town since since July/August.
          Then supermarket shopping.

Wow Nan2, that will be quite exciting after all this time.
Having had so many appointments at my dentist which is almost next to York Minster, I have been to our town a lot lately. Not in any shops though!

Daisy, if I were you I would keep on with the deliveries, and just do bits of shopping when you can or want to. It's different for us. We have medium size Sainsburys and Co Ops in the village. Depending whether you turn left or right when you leave the village there are large branches of Sainsburys, M&S and Asda a couple of miles in one one direction, Tesco and Aldi the same distance in the other. Also another Sainsburys, a Morrisons and a Waitrose in town just 4 miles away, so we are spoilt for choice!

WG I hope your OH is doing OK and you are getting some rest while he is away.

Henry's eye is much better and now we wrap him in a towel for OH to hold while I do it, it's not so bad. He seems to accept he has to have it done.
OH is helping a friend build s a wardrobe today. I am popping over to mums to collect some more things for the clothing bin which accepts household textiles as well as clothes.
No other plans today. DD and GS1 may come over, but it's not confirmed.

            Have a nice Saturday everyone.

              Good 1st of May ladies

Gem we are spoilt too , most of our big supermarkets are between 5 minutes walk across the highway bridge or within a couple of miles

We taking all the stuff we have collected from the loft down to DD this morning for her work friend who left her husband
A huge pile of Towels I laundered freshly for her , some are almost new as I didn't like the colour after I had them a week or so .

Then back to finish off the Bedroom it seems to be taking ages Still have Curtains to put up and bedding to put on but need to touch up some paint after I decided to take the metal tie backs down last night so the holes had to be filled in ( B wasn't happy ) he thought i was just creating work

Good morning on this lovely sunny May Day. I hope it's sunny for everyone.

Nanto - I do hope you enjoy your day out today. I'm sure it will feel a bit strange though. Are you going to treat yourself to something nice?

Gem and Oma - you certainly are spoilt for choice of shops. We have got a Tesco Express in the village and a Co-op/Welcome but they largely cater for visitors. There's a Waitrose about 5 miles away - just a medium size one, and a small M&S Food Hall. There is a large Tesco about 8 miles away, but it's always chaotic and neither OH or I like it, so it is kind of our own fault that we travel about 12 miles to get to a large Sainsbury's!! But we can't have it both ways - living where we live and have shops on the doorstep!

Gem - I'm glad Henry's eye is improving - for all your sakes. What a sweetie he must be to let you do it. You and OH have got another busy day!

Oma - I'm sure your DD's work friend will be over the moon with all those towels. I can imagine B's comments when you decided to take down the hooks for the tie backs!

WeeGranny - how is your OH this morning? I'm sure you will be delighted to see your DD - try and have a little bit of 'down time' together.

Grauntie - I hope the new month is the start of a good recovery for you. How is your nurse faring? Take care and rest. xx

We're going to DS1 and DIL1's for lunch. We only arranged it last night, but we've both got free week-ends and the weather forecast for them is quite good for today - plus I think DS is looking for an excuse to try out the barbecue after getting it ready for the summer. I need to get my skates on though, so have a good day ladies. x

We only have a few small shops in the village. Waitrose is about 5 miles away. Also Tesco, Morrisons, etc etc a short drive away. I like using the farm shop which is a short drive away.

Oma, I am sure DD's work friend will be very grateful to have your gifts. You are naughty messing B about, drilling holes, filling holes etc etc and he doesn't know you have white paint at the ready!

Sorry, had to leave, call of nature.

Grauntie, I hope you are being well looked after and will feel stronger soon.

Daisy, have a lovely lunch with your DS1 and his family. I hope the sun shines for you all.

Gemini, pleased to hear Henry is putting up with the treatment. We used to wrap our cat in a towel to give them tablets.

Daisy you must quite close to us when visiting your DS, give us a wave.

GD1, her partner and baby H are on their way to St Ives with her partner's parents and his GM. I hope the trip away doesn't upset H's routine, she is such a good baby. Lots of wedding arrangements talk taking place atm. DD is considering hiring a coach to take the local guests,, dresses to be altered, cake choices, cars for bride and her dad and her mother and the bridesmaids. The venue is in a marquee on the banks of the Thames, I hope we don't loose any toddlers in the water. It should be lovely, hope it is a sunny day. DD and I have our outfits at the ready. It will be a bit different compairing it to a a normal wedding, GD doesn't do pretty.

I have decided not to go over to my mum's today. OH and I will probably go tomorrow.
I am expecting a parcel (DD3's birthday present) which is too big to go though the letterbox.
DD and GS1 will be popping in this afternoon.

Oma that lady will be very glad of your nearly new towels.

Family lunch Daisy, have lovely time

I hope your GD and family have nice weekend Plant. When is the wedding?

The wedding is 3rd July, Hen do in June, Harry Potter theme.

I have been to 2 garden centers, got some plants and compost. I have spent the afternoon tidying the greenhouse ready for the grow bag, I am going to grow the tomatoes in that. The compost is still in the back of my car, SIL will unload it later for me. I called in for a coffee at DS and DIL's and had a chat about the wedding transport and the plans for their garden. I hadn't seen them for ages.

Had a good day in town. Didn't feel strange at all.
Went into the shops i've missed.
Stocked up at the butchers.Only thing i didn't get was a pork fillet.

Went to the cafe where they make a lovely full english, not healthy i know but its scrummy.
Problem is, i can't stop drinking now.Alway the same when i've had bacon.
