Oma, do the doctors always phone from home??? I think you spoil the dog!!!

The fish bites are very tasty and popular! The GD's used to love them when they ate here, we would order them and they would go and get them, lovely and warm! The van is on a Thursday just behind here, always very busy.

I hope your bedroom turns out well, I am not a "pink" person.

Good morning. Still chilly here but not as bad as it was.

Dentist for me this morning, I have a feeling he’ll want to do some work as he mentioned something last time. Then I might actually go to Tesco, first time for months, I need a few bits they don’t always have when I do my online shop. I also need to make an appointment to get my eyes tested. The optician I’d been going to for years was taken over just before Covid reared its ugly head and the new people decided to go completely private, no more NHS tests, they wanted £90 for an eye test! So researching local opticians now.

Oma, I can’t believe your doctor ringing you from home! That’s so unprofessional. We are quite lucky with our doctors, never really a problem speaking to someone. Last week DD rang at 5.30, got a phone appointment next morning at 8,30 and a face to face appointment at 10.30.

Nice for Eva to have a doggie friend Daisy. DD often takes Dexter out with her friend and her dog and they get on really well. There is a couple just up,the road from us who have two dogs, both the same breed and they look identical. Dexter and one of them get on pretty well but the other one, they hate each other! We can’t understand why, luckily they don’t see each other very often and are never off the lead.

Have a good Day everyone 🌞

Good morning one and all. It's quite bright but hazy this morning and not quite as cold. I took Eva out with our neighbour and wished I'd put a thinner coat on!

Nanto - do you do your jacket potatoes in the oven or microwave? Sometimes when I'm in a hurry I do them in the microwave, but I like the crisp skins when you do them in the oven.

The fish nuggets sound good. My DS1 loves fish finger sandwiches and will often make them for a quick snack, but nuggets might make a nice change. He has to be a bit careful what he eats on this drug trial, which is why asked about salt.

Lizzie your local fish bites sound wonderful.

Oma - the new tablets sound quite strong. I hope you don't get any ill-effects from them. Take care. Storm must love coming to be spoilt at your house, bless him. Cooper loves the frozen sprats he gets at our house. Your poor niece. I hope they can give her effective pain relief. She's very brave. Interesting that you're trying pink on the walls. I like pink, but haven't used it in decorating for years, unless you count the deep raspberry pink on one wall of the dining room.

Enfys - good luck with your Tesco shop. I'm sure it will feel strange after all this time. I didn't even realise some opticians don't do NHS testing. I don't blame you for finding somewhere that does. I hpe you escape from the dentist safely. It's funny how some dogs get on well and others don't - a bit like people I suppose. Luckily Eva and Missy seem to like each other, but we're taking it very cautiously.

Well done to S and her friend Gemini, give her my congratulations.

Oma, I hope those new tablets get your BP down, when are you going to have it checked again? I would love to meet Storm.

Daisy, how is your face healing?

Mimi, your garden is coming along well, I hope you get lots of sunshine to enjoy it.

I did my food shopping yesterday so a free day today, my GGD will be here soon, I will spend some time with her this afternoon. Might go to the farm shop/nursery, I have emptied some pots of spring flowers and need to find something to fill them and I need a grow bag for the tomatoes in.

Oma, now I think about it, we had a dark pink in our bedroom. I liked it at the time, otherwise I wouldn't have done it!!!

Oma - what shade of pink have you chosen - I'm very curious to see how wild you're going.

Plant - my face is best ignored - it's a horrible mess. The crater is weeping slightly, and the areas where I'm using the Efudix cream are swollen, red, sore, itchy and starting to crust over. I've got just over a week more of using the cream and then hopefully it will start to get better. Meanwhile, a good opaque bag over my head would be a good idea, except that it would be hot and make my skin burn even more.

Happy shopping for plants to fill your empty pots.

I will post a pic when its all done Daisy its sort of love heart pink , slightly darker than I thought but as the new curtains and bed cushions are a dusty pink it should contrast ,
If not I have a tin of white but I haven't told B yet hahaha Watch this space

Your poor face , it will heal but at the minute it must be driving you mad xxx

Plant BP check again next week see if new meds are working ,
Storm is a sweetheart although this morning he followed me upstairs and i caught him trying to take the hand towel out of the bathroom down the stairs , he usually steals B's pillow so has to be watched carefully

Daisy, i do the jacket potatoes in the microwave then put then in hot oven for 15/20 minutes to make them crispy.

Hope your face feels better soon.it does sound painful.

Oma, i love pink, but the bedroom is the only room i would have it in.

When we bought our first house in 1977 it had very bright pink dining kitchen (walls not units!) We stood it for a couple of years and painted a subtle soft green .

Very quiet at the library this afternoon. I called in to the Co Op on my way home and the car park was almost empty. Where is everyone!

Oh, poor you Daisy, that Efudix cream can make the face very sore. It took a long time for the op at the side of my eye (the second one) to heal. It is for the best, do you have to go back?

Daisy, that sounds horrendous about your face! I do hope it all heals quickly and that the cream does its job. Take care.

Enfys, our optician is private and still does our eye tests for free. I think over 70s are entitled to a free eye test anyway, so you shouldn't have to pay whichever optician you go to. I bet they lose a few customers by not doing the tests. They won't be losing money, because I believe the opticians claim the fee back from government/NHS ?

Better day today, thank goodness! Everything just got on top of me yesterday, house buyers stupid questions/ non communication from hospital/ OH getting progressively worse and lack of sleep on my part. Didn't have much more sleep last night, but found responses to buyers that let them know we do know what's in our deeds. I think they're choosing to ignore some of the covenants and picking those that aren't that important. e.g. they've not mentioned the clause which says you can't run a business from the house and want to know about parking rights on the entrance to the courtyard. We know that she runs her own business from their present house and is going to continue here. Their surveyor came this morning and said the house is structurally sound with only a few minor faults. So hopefully we can now get on with things.

OH off to hospital in the morning. Overnight stay we're told or maybe longer if the drains aren't out. I've got a bit of clearing out planned without him being around!!!

Have a good evening ladies xx

Gem - my DS2 is finding their shop very quiet in the afternoons and the whole town is the same. Mornings are quite busy though. It's odd!!

Nanto - thanks - I'll have to try that with jackets next time I do them.

Oma - fingers crossed your BP will be lower next week. Don't overdo the decorating, young lady.

WeeGranny - I think you're right about over 70s getting free eye tests anyway - the optician claims the money back from the NHS. I can't understand why an optician would stop doing that, unless they don't want to be bothered with us oldies.

Oh dear - property buyers can be a great big pain in the you-know-where! Well done on fielding their questions. Poor OH - I hope the hospital can improve things for him, but it gives you a bit of respite and chance to get on with the things you have to do. Just take care of yourself as well - and your back. xx

My face still looks like it's fresh off the butcher's chopping block but, hopefully, it's just a matter of grinning and bearing it while the cream does its job. Well, not the 'grinning' bit - that hurts too much!

I think dinner today will be chicken, mash, gravy. Not decided which veg yet.
