Oma we had a sparrow hawk on our fence last week & I sent OH out to chase it away. I'd seen a robin in the garden that morning. OH has found two pigeons with open necks by the side of our house. Not sure if it's a cat or another predator. I know they all need to eat but I hate to see them dead & in tact. Like they've just been played with.

Glam I bet you'll love your babysitting. They are exhausting tho. WG sausage & bacon. Now I feel peckish. Really pleased that your tummy has settled. Looked at your media & there's some fab cakes. You're really talented.

Plant - take it easy with your poorly back!

Gem - the white board sounds an even better idea. I do hope it works.

Glamma - 6 is a good age for a laptop! But hopefully your man who does can persuade it to carry on for a bit longer. You'll need to put your feet up after your childminding this week - but I'm sure you will all have a great time.

Oma - I hope neither of you have any effects from the flu jabs.

WG - I'm really pleased to hear you're feeling better, despite wet and muddy dog and GS! The good butchers sounds wonderful.

Nana - how was the piccalilli? And the trip to the docs?

Libra - hopefully you're there by now and starting to unwind. It's good you can kennel your fur babies.

Clover - I think it's highly likely that if the weather is cold and wet and GD1 has to get muddy she will want to come home. She hates getting her hands or her clothes dirty and muddy. I think it will be very good for her!! Tomorrow is the only day forecast to be dry, so we'll see how she gets on.

My day didn't go at all too plan! I arrived at DS2's to collect Cooper, and there was poor GD2, still in her nightie, looking pale and sorry for herself. She'd been awake 4 times in the night coughing and really wasn't fit to go to school. So I brought her back here with Cooper and we did drawing, playing snakes and ladders and played with everything in the toy box. She ate a huge lunch and looked much better by the time she got home. Despite the rumour of a sore throat she chattered non-stop. I am shattered though and just off to bed!

Good morning. Wet here. Not raining at the moment, but i think we've had quite a bit during the night.
Not much happening here, just the usual kind of day. Ironing to be done, amongst other things.

Chicken, leek and mushroom pie for dinner. Took it out of the freezer last night.
Colcannon mash to go with it. Chicken gravy, but haven't decided what veg yet.

            Good morning everyone.

Damn I lost my post. The cat walked on my keyboard, which happens and I lost GRU and my almost completed post. Then I got back on I came here and for some reason clicked on Discard post rather than Restore Grrr.
Annoying as it was a long one.
So, rather than reply to all as I had, I will just wish you all a good day!!

A dull but dry morning here.
OH is just leaving for a golf day. GS1 from school for me. Before that our cat sitting lady is dropping in to see the cats and for a coffee.
I must do some tidying up first.

It was good to see my auntie in her new home yesterday. I will write about that on her thread.

I seem to be feeling a bit Yuk atm. Just a bit fed up with worries over my mum, worries over the ailing ageing cat, stuff like that. I sometimes feel a few days away all on my own would do me the world of good! I expect most of us do though.

            Have a good day everyone.

Nanto, your meals sound yummy every day.

Gemini I am not surprised you feel as you do, you need some me time. The weather doesn't help.

I am feeling a bit sorry for myself, I have had a sore throat and a sort of cold since I got back from Madrid and putting the bedroom back has resulted in a bad lower back pain. So I am doing nothing today in the house. I am having tea with friends this afternoon. The most I am going to lift is a cup of tea and perhaps a piece of cake.

                Good morning from me, ladies.

It sounds as though most of us are in need of those Autumn blessings, Nanto - plus one of your lovely pies.

Gem - I'm feeling a bit yuk, too. I know I'm tired and need an early night. I tried last night but messages and phone calls kept me up till 11 am, and not stuff I felt I could ignore until today. I think those niggling on-going worries like your kitty, plus worries and frustrations about your mum, eventually mount up. At the moment, I seem to feel the weight of all my nearest and dearests' anxieties and problems. Plus, we're heading for winter, days are getting shorter, the garden's too wet to potter, the ironing's piling up, etc, etc, - nothing huge, just everything seems downbeat. I agree, a few days away would fix me!

Plant - I hope that sore throat doesn't develop into a full blown cold. You must be feeling tired after all the upheaval with your bedroom - it's surprising how tiring it all is even if you're not the one who's heaving heavy furniture about. Be kind to yourself and enjoy your afternoon tea with your friends.

GD2 has gone back to school today, so I've just got Cooper until pick up time. It was very foggy driving across the Forest this morning, so I decided to stay over at DS2's for an hour or so hoping it would clear - it didn't.

Hope those who feel a bit yucky perk up soon.
I know you have all had things going on/worries.

Not had any rain since last night,in fact we keep getting a glimpse of the sun.
One of our bedside lamps decided it wasn't going to work this morning.
Hubby tried the bulb and fuse, but he decided it was no good.
While he was out,he called to Argos and bought a new pair.
He did ring me first to see if i was happy to have some in the same style as we already had.
                  It was fine by me.

                        Afternoon all.
Its been another busy day here as we took advantage of the fact it hasn’t rained. OH gave the hedge that last cut for the winter. I emptied the tubs by the front door and replaced them with planters that I previously planted daffodils bulbs in .

Oma, poor you if it isn’t one thing it’s another, hope the nasal spray gives you some relief.

Plant hope you aren’t going down with a cold. Many of our neighbours seem to have the dreaded lurgy at the moment, hope they don’t pass it on to us !

Nan2 , are those lamps the touch lamps? I ask because we seem to go through those at an alarming rate. We have one each side of our bed and it only takes one of us to knock them over and they refuse to work after that.

Hope everyone is feeling a lot better today
Bring me sunshine in your smile.

Yes Mimi, they are touch lamps.
If you get a year out of them, you've done well.
But we prefer them, for the bedroom.

Hmm, it sounds as though those touch lamps don't last long. I probably won't buy any!
                            You were busy Mimi!

It was nice to see cat sitting friend and lovely spending time with GS1.
A fairly stressful time with mum, which I will write about elsewhere. More stressful as I wasn't around to deal with it

Gem - yes, we do both need a break!

I'm just back from dog training, but popped in to say 'goodnight'.

In defence of touch lamps - we've had the same one for about ten years, and one broke recently. We've replaced them with two more touch lamps from Dunelm again. They are the kind that have tree different levels of brightness. We've also got a pair of even cheaper ones in a spare room and these are just off or on, but they've withstood the GSs dropping them on the floor, falling over them and generally leaving them lying around and are still working fine.

Sorry to hear about all the off colour people today. I txt my sister & email my brother between chatting on the fone. Sister txt saying she has a sore throat & mouth & can't taste anything. Brother emailed saying he thinks he might have shingles even tho' he had the jab last year.

Later in the day OH went to docs & he's now on antibiotics for a urine infection. Good grief. Hope everyone picks up soon. Gem I'll try to find your post re your mum now. Hope she's ok.
