Good morning Nanto, Oma Lizzie and everyone. It's very windy again here. I was hoping to take Eva out for a good run in the paddock, but she doesn't cope with the wind very well. Perhaps it will calm down later.
I think we're all worrying about Clover and G. She must be exhausted with going backwards and forwards to the hospital every day, without any problems with the weather. Clover, if you're looking - sending you big hugs. xxx
Nanto - I've photographed lots of weddings in marquees, and to be honest they're more of a problem in high summer, because they can be hot and airless. It will be heated but you might want an extra 'draught excluder' wrap or something in the evening. If the weather might be wet there's usually a board or rubber walkway into the main building for the Ladies, etc. I did one wedding with the marquee in the bride's family's garden and the marquee was built round a cherry tree. It looked so pretty in the evening dressed with little fairy lights.
Gem - you've got the patience of a saint with your mum. I can understand her being concerned about the roof blowing off, but you and S went over, saved the roof and made things safe in the sunroom. You couldn't possibly have done more. I hope your sore throat is feeling better this morning and it doesn't develop into a full-blown cough and cold. xxx
Oma - I'm quite sure you won't be a grumpy old lady, ever!
Nana - thank you for your lovely comments.
Lizzie - what a pity the carnivals have to be cancelled because of the weather. February isn't the best time for outdoor events in our part of the world, is it. Are they Mardi Gras carnivals? There have been a couple of fatal accidents at New Orleans Mardi Gras carnivals this year, so definitely better safe than sorry.
My inner chamber maid is busy this morning. I've stripped the GDs' beds and put everything in the washer. The room needs a good tidy up and clean so that's my next job after I've had a shower.
Stay safe in this weather everyone.

Daisy, yes Mardi Gras style parades. They do them in this area, Delft etc, but, can't be compared to the ones "above" the river, that is the Maas so above Rotterdam.
Gem, you must have patience with your mum, no idea how we will be if we get to that age! I hope our throat is better today.
Nanto, your hubby will miss the car boot sales!
Oma, do you ever sleep???? I am always awake early but you seem to win from me.

Good morning all.
It seems to have calmed down here.
Poor OH Nan2, missing his boot sales!
Daisy the thing with my mum is that, aside from having my handicapped sister, which was major thing, her life has gone smoothly. No major illnesses or accidents, never been burgled, loving and faithful husband, etc etc. She is lucky and for this I am very glad. However as she has got to 91 not having to deal with much, the tiniest thing, like a BP test sends her into stress overdrive. The plastic roof blowing off is an prime example, and a bit like my 3 year old GS may do she takes it out on those around her!!
I reminded myself last night that I am incredibly patient with her, as she tells me I am not.
Thanks for your kind words. My throat is no worse, so that's good.
Difficult times for Clover. We all wish we could do more, but she knows when things are more settled and she can take part in the forum that we are here for her. I too hope that flooding didn't affect her.
We are going dishwasher shopping today. Not sure what else we have planned yet.

Nanto - my OH was talking about boot sales - he really needs to do a lot of selling though.
Gem - I hadn't thought of it like that - if you've never had to deal with serious problems you're not going to learn when you're in your 90s. Although I'm sure it must have been incredibly hard and painful caring for your sister, and making necessary decisions which can't have been easy. You are definitely very patient with her though! I'm glad you throat is no worse. Take care out in the cold wind today.
Lizzie - I bet the parades are very colourful when the weather co-operates. Lots of fabulous flowers?

Good morning ladies. Another very blowy night but at least it’s stopped raining now.
I too have been thinking about Clover and concerned that all is ok with her. She really doesn’t need any more stress so I really hope they’ve escaped any flooding.
Haven’t been feeling 100% for the last couple of days, nothing I can put my finger on, just a bit bleurgh! Must shake myself up and out of it.
We enjoyed the skittles with my WI, but I think I pulled a muscle and that’s what started it all off, so must take more care, I forget I’m getting older (old)!
Gem, you sound very patient with your Mum, it must be very wearing for you both. I also did a lot for my Mum but she was always such a cheerful lady and very grateful for whatever we did, bless her. Even after all these years I do miss her, especially when I’m feeling a bit down. I try to be like her.
No plans for today, we both overslept so have just had breakfast, no rushing around for me today. Have a good day everyone."Don't cry because it's over, smile because it happened." - Dr Seuss

Gemini, having to deal with the plastic roof at your mothers can't have helped your virus, keep warm. Hope you find the dishwasher you want.
Lizzie, your carnival sounds amazing, so sorry it had to be cancelled.
Nanto hope these winds have stopped before that wedding, make sure you take something extra in case it is drafty
Enfys, skittles sounds fun, sorry you haven't felt 100%
Oma enjoy your meet up with your friends, I would love a good blow at the coast.
GD1 and her partner are looking after his GM whilst his parents are away, my DD has invited them over for lunch, plus Sil's mother and myself, three GM's!! I am not sure when Sil and I will be able to watch the rugby.
I wish someone had some form of contact with Clover so we know how she is.What is life if full of care we have no time to stand and stare

Morning. Plant the rugby games yesterday were both exciting.... especially the Welsh game. The one today should be good too.
Enfys I'm sorry to hear you're feeling bluergh. Be kind to yourself. Get well soon to all the other Grans who aren't feeling too good.
Hoping you all enjoy your Sunday.Last edited by Nana; 23-02-2020, 11:22 AM."Good friends help you to find important things when you have lost them....your smile, your hope, and your courage."

We had a lovely catch up with our friends this morning ,
Sat by the window in the café watching the sea , had the best Bacon sandwich ever , we all agreed it was top quality and plenty in the bun.
It was very cold and windy with mist blowing in from the sea but surprised just how many people were walking along the prom and sand all huddled up hanging on to each other in the wind but everyone was smiling and the sun was outIm not fat just 6ft too small
