Kitchen fitters arrived, as I thought they would, when I was in the shower. They are getting
on very fast with the job and I am pleased with it so far.
We had a lovely evening celebrating DD's birthday, all four children were able to get there, we picked some up from the station on the way, 3 of them had their partners too. Lovely meal and came home to cake. They all had to get off early this morning catching buses to the station, it was lovely to see GS2, he is only in London but doesn't get home very often. DD is now waiting for GGS to arrive for his day with her.

Hope your carpet fitting goes well Gemini and hope your mum is happy today.

Whatever are you sewing to hurt your hands Grauntie, I might do some sewing later as I can't do much else.

        Afternoon all.
I had a really bad evening and night, the pain in my back was the worst I have ever experienced, at one point I didn’t know where to put myself, standing, sitting lying brought no relief. I am now drugged up to the eyes in pain killers. I put it down to the decorating I did over the last few days.

Daisy it’s the first early we have planted in containers, the main crop are still chitting, it will be at least a month before they go into containers.

Oh Gem, new carpets.... I know this might seem mad but I love the smell of new carpets....and new wood!

Plant new kitchen , it’s exciting, a lot of work but worth it in the end.

Bring me sunshine in your smile.

Mimi, back pain is awful hope it eases soon, have you tried a heat pad? Hope the new kitchen goes as planned, Plant, how exciting.

Supermarket for us this morning, made it home just before the heavens opened and it’s only must stopped now. Dexter is here this afternoon so I’ll spend most of the time wiping his muddy paws, I know. DH off to his Men’s Shed meeting too, he has to take tools so goodness knows what they’ll be up to 🙂.

Hope your day is going well for everyone.

Pouring with rain here, the kitchen fitter are having to go in and out, they have a cleaner going to they must be nearly finished. I must say I like it very much. Not looking forward to the work I will have to do when they are finished but I will not rush it, just get the essentials back so I can eat tonight. Then do the rest gradually.

Mimi that does sound very painful, I suppose painkillers are the only thing to give you relief. Have you tried lying on the floor?

What do they make in the Men's shed and are ladies not invited to join?

Oh Mimi your most likely right it will be all the decorating. Hope your getting some ease now .

Enfys what will you do with your free time apart from cleaning Dexter's paws

Plant sounds like a good night , will you get to see GGS today ? Seems like he's growing so fast I love to hear about him
Been a while since we saw pics of Qwerty two also . They must be growing so much

                  Carpet done, looking good.
The rain seems to be easing off at last.

Put back the kitchen stuff gradually Plant.
Poor Mimi, you do sound to be in pain. I bet the decorating is to blame as you say.

Qwerty. reading back I see you asked if there wasn't another Grandma who could help out with GS1 ( when I had to go over on the train) GD and GS2 have other grandparents who help as much as I do. Unfortunately it is only me for GS1. His other gran lives in Scotland, and much as she loves her GC she says she couldn't and wouldn't do what I do even if she lived closer.

Plant, if I lie on the floor I doubt that I would be able to get up again without doing am impression of a crawling baby making its way to the sofa to pull its self up ! Take your time putting everything back into the kitchen. I noticed this morning that the handle of my freezer door is cracked, that will be when the kitchen fitters moved it in and out of the kitchen. Hope you don’t come across any nasty surprises.

GD is popping by later with DS and DIL as it’s GD’s 15 th birthday today . I know we have said it several times before but heck doesn’t time fly .

Just put some of the cupboard contents back, rest can wait until tomorrow. Sil has just been in and he liked it very much, much lighter. I have taken some before and after pics but I am hopeless at putting them on the forum. Will consult GC. Just been in to see GGS, his Papa (sil) is back early from the County Court so he is playing with him. Time certainly does fly Mimi, can't believe GGS will soon be 2 years old.

Mimi.....my commiserations re the back pain. I felt OK this morning when I got up so went in to town to get OH a birthday card and a few other bits and pieces. I had to cut my trip short as I was doing a good impression of the crooked man! Counting down the hours to Friday when I shall be able to see an end to my pain. Take it easy and no more decorating!

Plant......I hope you're pleased with your kitchen renovation.

Gem....I hope you're pleased with your new carpet. We need to get our hall and staircase done, but there are a few more jobs taking precedence.

Just realised that the nurse at my pre-op didn't measure me for those lovely stockings you get to wear for an operation. She did measure my neck though! Not sure what that was about. Gem, am booked in for Friday afternoon with an overnight stay.

My seed potatoes are still chitting, but I don't think they've chitted enough to plant them yet !

Managed to get our long weekend organised to visit DS with DD and GS. Trying Wizzair this time as their flight times were a lot more sensible then Ryanair!

Very windy and showery here and getting colder!

                        Enjoy your evening ladies x

Evening ladies a bit later on than of late, we didn’t get a chair yesterday OH couldn’t decide , so guess what we went back today and bought the blooming one we saw yesterday it’s coming next Wednesday, still I bought some day cream so wasn’t a wasted journey yesterday , it’s L’Oréal and it’s got ginger in it I am expecting all wrinkles and a rosy glow tomorrow when I put it on
The chair is leather burgundy very comfy it’s lovely just feel a bit leathered out but it’s taken 3 mths to get there , now I’m looking for a copper coloured table lamp for the hall, we have a nest of pine tables we’ve had years so we have decided to try and make them shaker style and paint the legs and struts cream and leave the tops pine watch this space
Oma I wouldn’t want to bore you with pics of twins I take several a week lol . When I take co-codamel I could fall asleep stood up anywhere all you want to do is go home
WG hope all goes well on Friday and your free from pain eventually
The smell of new carpets is one of my favourite clean smells that and dettol 😬 New kitchen is just what I want Plant but not getting his lordship says !!!
Mimi a few days rest might sort you out with the back pain hopefully Happy birthday to your 15 year old g/d hope she had a lovely day

Qwerty, some recent pics would be nice 🙂 We don't get bored of seeing grandchildren, as Oma says.
I can't take co-codamol. It makes me feel weird and out of it, and I don't like any mind altering drugs!!
No one measured me for those white stockings at my pre op either WG.

All went well today. Mum felt good for her pedicure and enjoyed her tea here. A pleasant time. As I said to OH if it could be relied upon to it be like that we would invite her a lot more often.

Gem - a good day in the end - stair carpet fitted and lovely, Mum pedicured, fed and happy.

I agree - photos of our GCs are always more than welcome.

Plant - so glad you're pleased with your new-look kitchen. Take you time putting things back - apart from anything else it takes a few days for the dust to 'settle'. Your GGS can't be nearly 2 - I think you must have made a mistake, he's only about 6 months surely!

Mimi - Ouch, I feel that back pain for you. Every tiny movement you make is agony. I've been there often and it's horrible. I actually end up feeling literally sick with the pain. Modern advice seems to be keep moving but gently, although I sometimes find if it 'goes' suddenly lying down for a few hours fends it off a bit.

Wee Granny - it seems odd to be looking forward to an operation, but I'm sure you are, just to be free of pain eventually. You'll be leaping about like a spring lamb by the time you go to visit your DS. xx

Enfys - it's amazing how long you spend wiping muddy paws when it's wet! But at least you missed the rain this morning. What did P do at his Men's Shed meeting today? It's a brilliant idea.

Qwerty - so glad you find your chair at last. Roll on next week for delivery. Have you got to buy some new cushions as well now?

I do't know where today went, but we didn't get going until late morning, and I cooked sea bass with sweet potato and parsnip mash, carrots, spinach and kale for lunch, then we sat and chatted for a while and watched Escape to the Country as it was set in North Wales in places we know. Then I did my best to cut OH's hair - there's not a lot of it! Then we had a sandwich before we both went out. So where did the day go!!
