Well its as I expected hes deaf as a post
I have been nagging him for months to get tested as he already has tinnitus and im constantly repeating myself to him , Drives me insane ,
He struggles to hear in a room full of people too ,
Anyway he needs two hearing aids going to cost almost £3000 but worth every penny if I don't have to keep repeating and shouting all the time ,
He has insisted for a long time his hearing was fine but I have known it wasn't , yet again I was proved right ( Im not gloating mind at being right … well yes I am )
This man is dropping to bits hahaha

Why is it going to cost that much Oma? My aids are on the NH and very good.

Oh dear poor B it has its good points Oma you can curse him without him hearing you but now he will hear everything 🗣👂🏻, no secrets now. All the same he could do without that as well, but my OH is deaf too, I ask him something and the get the most bizarre answers !
I don’t like October it’s boring no birthdays well just one, no celebrations nothing happening boring boring OH has gone for his therapy usual moan about going but I actually look forward to him coming home when he’s been there

My hubby's hearing is down as well, but he's another that says it's fine.

Enjoyed my roast dinner today, and the way hubby was going at it,he did as well.

Turned rather cool now, heating on. Did have a light shower this morning.

My OH has NHS hearing aids too and they are fine. I can't see them, so much so that I ask 'Have you got your hearing aids in??' if she doesn't hear me! She was like B, Oma, resisted having her hearing tested long after we all knew she needed aids!

I don't go to Canada until next Tuesday Plant, but leave for the airport on Monday. Before that I have a grandchildren day and Mother day, a meeting, and GD's birthday party, so I'm trying to get ahead

Qwerty the weather in Nova Scotia is very similar to here at this time of year, maybe a degree or 2 warmer , so I will pack as if for a holiday in this country.

GS was very cute at his harvest festival service, they all were, and very well behaved. They performed lots of songs for us, and Year 6's did readings. On the way out he was grinning and smiling at us in our seats, and pointing saying Mummy, Grandma, Mummy , Grandma! They are all so pleased to see their family members, it's sad for any child who has no one to watch them.

I have been to the library and Sainsbury's since my reflexology, now I'm going to see the neighbours cat!

Oma - I'l glad B has finally been told officially that he needs bionic ears, and he does deserve the best! The NHS ones are quite discreet - I can't tell from the front if OH is wearing his, and he has no hair to hide them. But they're not right for everyone, or for every situation. I've got mild loss in one ear and mild to moderate in the other, and I find they don't make much difference for say, a day at home, but they help a bit at things like dog training and sometimes with the GCs - GD1 is very quietly spoken, but the rest of them can be heard for miles! The didn't help at all in the noisy pub in Birmingham.

Gem - I can see you're going to be busy right up to leaving home on Monday. I hope you get everything done. Awww, I'm glad your GS1 enjoyed his Harvest Festival. It is a shame that not all children have parents/family to watch though.

It's lovely and warm here, although I'm sure it will be chilly as soon as the sun goes down. I went out this morning in a very lightweight fleece jacket and had to take it off - it was too warm.

Qwerty - I always slightly dread October. There's no way I can kid myself it's summer any more, the nights are getting dark, and there's the prospect of 6 months of bad weather ahead. What's to like about it!! I feel a bit mean, though as it's OH's birthday and DS2 and DIL's wedding anniversary. November is worse! Nearly all the bad, sad things in my life seem to have happened in November plus the cold, dark weather starts to bite. I can feel quite depressed about it.

I've had a lovely 'me' day today! I went to the hairdressers. I will hopefully get one more appointment with her before her baby is due, and while she's away one of the stylists from her old salon is going to do it. She's working for the owner of the salon where my hairdresser rents a chair, so I know her - and love her green hair!!

Then I accidentally found myself in the shoe shop and came out with a pair of Sketchers flat shoes and a pair of Rieker ankle boots with a cosy fleecy lining. I got a few birthday cards (and forgot to get Anniversary card for DS2 and DIL!), had a wander round a couple of shops and got a couple of little things for OH's birthday. Morrisons had fresh sprats on the fish counter so I got some for Eva, some of DIL2's favourite cookies, as she was in the shop on her own today and deserved a treat, and some sushi for my lunch. The book I'd ordered for OH had arrived at the shop so I can get that wrapped up next time he's out. And best of all, OH had done the supermarket shopping and put it away by the time I got home!

It doesn't take much to make me happy!

What a fab day Daisy, and spending money on yourself is a real treat good for you
Now Daisy I don’t mind November it’s our anniversary , it’s nearer the time of that celebration we are not allowed to mention yet,
OH back from therapy will report on YEO but he seems fine about things but I agree many sad things too it’s the anniversary of 2 yrs since I lost my friend , and some family members over the years including my lovely mil
Gem I love a harvest festival but havnt been to one for years, they don’t seem to make a festival out of it at school here just accept the food and dish it out

I SO wish OH would agree to a hearing test. He is so adamant there’s nothing wrong with his hearing that he gets angry if I mention there is.Of course the anger part of this is due to his illness but it’s driving me nuts. I try to persuade him by saying he can prove me wrong but no luck.I have resigned myself to repeating a lot of things three times before he acknowledges me if I am on his “bad” side.At least it seems to be only one ear at the moment.

Daisy accidents can happen but you made the best of it

Gem,what a full diary you’ve got The time will fly by until Monday. It’s so nice when Harvest Festival is celebrated in the traditional wayThe little ones love to pick out their family members

Clover, I got my OH to go for an eye test by booking one for myself. Dammed good job too, as that's when they discovered he had early AMD, but that's beside the point. If you both go for a 'routine' hearing check (rather than 'test') he perhaps won't feel singled out in any way. After all we accept regular eye checks, dental checks, BP checks, medication reviews etc etc, and a hearing check is no different. I now have the opposite problem. OH still seems to have the tv at max volume, but accuses me constantly of shouting! Sometimes you can't win.

You could tell a little white lie - that the doctor recommends it. You need to get a referral from your GP anyway so it it kind of true.

Misty this morning, hope it clears. Aqua for me this morning. I have loaded my car with boxes of paper and cardboard, I am going to the tip after Aqua, nice men there will help me unloaded. I take my paper and card to the tip to help sil, the Council collect it but everything has to be taken up a track and that collection day he has his paper box, 3 wheelie bins and a waste food bin.

Sorry about you lack of sleep Nanto

Good morning Nan2, Plant and everyone else.

That wasn't a good nights sleep Nan2, you must be tired.
                              Enjoy Aqua Plant.

This waking to an alarm is becoming too regular around here! This is the 3rd morning this week, and I will set one again tomorrow, as the hairdresser is coming at 8.30.
This morning is the committee meeting, so I will be off for that soon, My mum's shopping to do later, then I am taking her to see her friend for a couple of hours.
Oh, and the cat sitter is calling for the key and a coffee around midday.
                              Have a good day everyone.

Good morning everyone. It's a bit grey and damp round here, but not cold. Still quite a contrast with yesterday.

Nanto - I hope you can fit in a nap later in the day to catch up on some of the sleep you missed.

Plant - enjoy Aqua and your trip to the tip!

Gem - what another busy day you've got, and being woken by the alarm is no fun at all. I hope your mum is ok and enjoys seeing her friend. Will you see her again before you go away? It's getting close now! Have you started your packing, and are you managing with just the one case?
