Morning all, wish this warmer weather we have been promised would arrive soon, its blinking cold and windy this morning

GS mightn't have time to do his much thought about product for his schools Eisteddfod as he has been chose to read out a poem in Welsh in front of the school and parents. He is very calm and matter of fact about it . I have heard the poem, it sounds very impressive but I haven't a clue what its all about ! I went to school in Wales for a while but I never learnt one word of Welsh, on the other hand DD is picking it up as she goes along
My potatoes that have been set aside to 'chit' are coming along a treat and the tomato and basil seeds that are sitting on the window sill have started to show. Roll on spring !

Daisy I have never done a brewery tour but when we were in Scotland we did a distillery tour and as I can't even stand the smell of whisky let alone the taste I wasn't all that impressed but as I was with a party of 8 I was out voted . I have worked in a cider factory ( rather large one where I live ) so does that count ?

Clover I understand what you are saying, most of our days out usually involve a clinic of some sort of another !

    Have a good day everyone
Bring me sunshine in your smile.

Sounds like your GS1 is enjoying his visit to the States, he will have lots to tell you when he gets back Oma. Is is really 5 years since your Fil died.

My DD is having her operation today, not sure what time they will be back, hope all goes well and they don't find anything sinister. I have done several brewery tours, my OH was a real beer drinker. We did do a whiskey tour in Scotland but as most of you know brandy is my tipple. We did wine tours in Germany, they were good, it was all in German in the Black Forest, we just drank when the others did.

Would your OH manage a day coach trip Clover, you need a change of scene.

Plant I hope all goes well for your DD .Always an anxious time.Is she hoping to come home today?
Thanks for your suggestion of a coach trip.I have looked into it in the past but they start so early from our neck of the woods. You’re right I would love to get out to nice places more often.

Mimi despite having lived in South Wales for many years I only know a few words of Welsh. It is predominantly English spoken here and only occasionally do you hear someone speaking Welsh in a shop or something.
I think your GS is very clever to recite in Welsh, but then if they are taught it in school they soon pick it up while they are young.

Plant - I do hope your DD is ok. I know you can't help worrying, but I'm sure she's in good hands.

Clover some coach companies do half day trips to local places of interest. It's worth looking to see if that would be a possibility. It would do you good to get out and about, and you don't get much of a break.

Mimi, I'm sure your GS1 will read his poem beautifully. I think Welsh sounds very melodic. My OH did Welsh at school and did O Level Welsh as a native language rather than a second language, but in fact they spoke English at home, because his mum didn't speak Welsh. I can't say I picked up much in the two years we lived in North Wales, even though it was widely spoken.

Oma - Your poor MIL - anniversaries are very difficult, but it's hard to believe it's five years since your FIL passed away.

I think there are some tasting opportunities on the brewery tour! Plant - I'll do what you did in the Black Forest - drink when the others do. Clover - I like the smell of hops. I like the smell of cider, too, Mimi. Although I suppose if you're working in that environment you get used to it.

Gem - I hope the sun came out for you. Carpets of snowdrops are wonderful - spring can't be far behind.

              Good afternoon.
The sun certainly did come out Daisy, we had a lovely time Halfway home down came the rain and it has just stopped. We were so lucky!

Looking out for coach trips is a good idea Clover. Are there any groups such as WI locally which you could join to get you out for an hour or 2? They sometimes have trips I think, that I imagine OHs would be welcome on.
Plant, I hope all has gone well for your DD.
Oma, good to hear GS is having so good a time. Who wouldn't in NY though?
Daisy, I hope you enjoy the brewery tour!

                Evening All.
The copper bashing was great and this is the result. Very boho!
Plant, I thought you were a gin lover! (but then you could be a gin and brandy lover too πŸ€ͺ)
Mimi l went out with a welsh lad in my youth. His father was Polish, his mother Welsh. The resulting conversation at his home was confusing to say the least!
Oma, I’m glad GS has enjoyed his hols. In our day, a trip to London on a coach was a treat.
The Dremel drill has been out at last! The accompanying book was no help with set up but YouTube saved the day. I have β€˜bits’ that are foxing me though.
I will have to spend the evening trawling t’internet. How can such a big company send out gadgets with no description?

The news from my Sil to GD1 is that the lump turned out to be a fibroid so she didn't need to have the larger op. They had already given her a full anesthetic so they have to stay at the hospital so they will not be home before 8 or 9p.m.. I am sure she will be very relieved and the recovery will not be so long.

I was evacuated to Wales and started school there, I did learn a bit of welsh so my parents told me and I could sing Land of my Fathers

DD was very pale and very thirsty when she got back, still the effect of the anesthetic I presume. We are a bit mystified how the specialist could mistake a fibroid, presumably in the womb for a growth on the ovary, no doubt SIL will persue that. I didn't press the issue, she should feel better in the morning.

Early start art for me Aqua tomorrow, must set the alarm.

Hope you get an answer, as to how a fibroid was mistaken for something on her ovary.

Hubby out this morning, helping friend to cut a tree down.
So, the ironing will be done, amongst other things.

                              Good Moaning Each.
Up with the lark this morning, only because I woke up with necessary (!) drill bits on my brain, and how best to make a bag from some leather that I came across. So glad I don’t have anything more pressing to think about. 😁 OH out to lunch today so no dinner to cook either. Oh it just gets better and better. I may have to swing by the garden centre on my way home from B & Q with my voucher burning my hand!
                              Have a good Thursday all.

                                Good morning ladies.

Plant I hope your daughter feels a bit better this morning.
Ironing is one of those never ending jobs really isn't it Nan2?

As it is Thursday I will do my mum's shopping and take it to her.
Tonight OH and and are going to a pub quiz with 2 friends (this week has been a lovely social one for me, but it's a pity it all comes at once!) We will eat at the pub first. OH has a ladies golf lunch today, so will probably want something small tonight.

                                Have a nice day everyone.
