Yesterday DD2 texted to tell me baby, aged 8 months had had toast. His sister aged 7 had looked very grave and told her mummy she didn't think this was at all a good idea! Luckily baby GS loved it and no choking incidents“A grandchild fills a space in your heart that you never knew was empty.” – Unknown

Driving home with M and T last thursday,we were singing christmas carols. I started singing "last Christmas" by Wham, not thinking they would know it, up pipes Taren with Last Christmas I gave you my heart, the very next day you sold it on e bay. No idea where she learnt that, but it made me chuckle."What doesn't kill us,makes us stronger."

6 year old GS's wobbly tooth fell out today, it's the first tooth he has lost so the 'rules' of the tooth fairy needed clarifying.
Mummy "You will need to put that tooth under your pillow for the tooth fairy. She will take and leave you some money "
GS. "How much will she leave"
Mummy. "I'm not sure, when I was a little girl I think it was about 20p "
GS. "It will be £40 now "
That's inflation for you ! Can we blame the huge increase on Brexit I wonder?Bring me sunshine in your smile.

I forgot to post this yesterday. DS1 and family had stayed over night after our family get together on Tuesday. DIL and I were in the kitchen mid-morning, when GS1(who is autistic) came running in saying Eva the dog had scratched my OH's eye badly. We ran into the living room to find OH sitting calmly on the sofa looking none the worse for wear. Without thinking I exclaimed that I'd expected to see OH's eyeball bouncing across the floor. GS1 takes things very literally, and his face was a picture! He looked from face, to floor and back again and went quite pale. We had to explain hurriedly that I was exaggerating."Joy is what happens to us when we allow ourselves to recognise how good things really are. "

Not long before Christmas DD1 got new next door neighours. When I was at the house one day DD remarked to GS, 4, how nice it would be if Grandma lived next door. GS said nothing. 'Wouldn't you like Grandma to live next door?!' asked his mum.
GS immediately replied ' No! There are no toys!'
DD explained that I would bring the toys with me, and everything else. That when you moved home you took everything with you.
Not obvious to a child has never moved or have any awareness of anyone moving I suppose.“A grandchild fills a space in your heart that you never knew was empty.” – Unknown
