    How they make you smile

We used to have this on the other place and if there is one on here I cannot find it.

Had Joe and Sadie overnight, as usual Sadie was very interested in all of my things. First thing she asked me when she arrived yesterday was whether I had her magazine and I had to admit that I didn't have time to get one but I said I would give her three pounds to go with mummy to buy a magazine she wants. This morning they asked if we could do their sweetie bags (they are not allowed to have any until mummy or daddy are here and say they can), Joe had his £3 pocket money in his bag and Sadie her magazine money in hers. Joe "Sadie are you having pocket money now?" Sadie "it is not pocket money it is magazine money, grandma said so". When I dropped them off son said "Oh Pops you have got pocket money" Sadie thrust her little head in the air (VERY madam) and informed him in the way only a four year old can, as in are you stupid or something? "Daddy this is NOT pocket money it is magazine money that grandma gave me because she was busy and didn't get me a magazine herself". Well that makes all the difference then doesn't it?

She went through my bracelet drawer and chose a couple which she wore this morning. I let her choose one of four which I don't often use so she went home happy as did Joe who had a football which was given to me and is leather and very shiny. Sadie was quite dismayed that I have changed my shoe storage and they are in boxes but soon found out how to get in them. I have pink boxes, white boxes and clear boxes, all see through. She spent a lot of time this morning putting the shoes she liked best in the pink boxes, second best in the white ones and the ones she wasn't keen on In the blue boxes, Next time I will let her loose on the handbag boxes, will save me a job!!

Love the photos Zizi. Now who does Sadie look like

I love sharing these kind of time with my GD of 8. The 3 year old is just getting into my make up!

Sadly Elisi she is not biologically related to me but I absolutely adore her and her brother and Ben as if they were. I adopted her daddy and his brother when I got with husband when they were 9 and 10 and he adopted my own son. The boys are now all in their early forties.

After she was born my son said proudly that she had my eyes, very blue, and I had to point out to him that the colour was the only similarity due to the non biological thing at which point his face fell and he said "oh I forgot about that" which I thought was rather lovely and a testament to the fact that husband and I did something right.

Oma - I agree with you. My immediate reaction was she's got your eyes and smile.

Lovely photos - thanks for sharing them. I'm glad you enoyed their sleepover. There's nothing quite like a 4 year old for sorting out the grown ups when we get it wrong in their eyes.

Lovely pictures Zizzy, Sadie must love to see GM who has lots of shoes and bracelets. I can remember my GD going through my jewellery box and trying things on.

Qwerty she is very interested in the make up but doesn't like the feel of it on her face. She does however like nail polish, a lot, usually a different colour on each finger!

Zizi, I moved this to the Being a Grandmother section, as it was in the section for questions about the forum. Thanks

Today OH, my GD and I walked into the village to do a few things, then have lunch at the lovely café. GD and I went to my bank OH to hers, on opposite sides of the main street. OH had something a bit more complicated to do, I was just paying in.
Once I finished at the bank we walked across to the street to the bank opposite. It was rather quiet in there, and no OH. I guessed she had gone into one of the side rooms to complete paperwork. I sat down, GD practiced handstands. Luckily it was a quiet day at the bank
Bored of waiting we left to go to the bakers next door. I posted GD as lookout in case OH came out and couldn't see us. We went back to the bank. More waiting, more handstands. Twice GD asked 'Are you sure S is in here?' I said yes, she is in one of those rooms, she shouldn't be long.
Several more minutes passed, then I got a text. From OH. Saying, 'Queue is a mile long' . No queue in the bank. I get GD and leave the bank. I realised that OH must be in the other bank on that side! As we walked along to the bank GD said 'I told you S wasn't in there. I'm sure those rooms are only for staff. Why didn't you listen to me?' I pointed out I did listen, but didn't know she was right.! She asked me about 3 times why I hadn't listened to her.
Told off, by a 5 year old!!!

Hehehehe, Gemini! Listening isn't enough - you need to take notice as well! Both GDs accompanied me and our visitors to Waitrose on Tuesday. We had 2 trolleys because GD1 (aged 4 1/2) who thinks sitting in the baby seat is beneath her wanted to 'help' our visitors find their way round. (My friend has some dietary needs so needed to select what is ok for her.) She counted every item my friend put in the trolley and every so often said "do you realise, J, that you have x items?' She placed the things in the trolley to her logical satisfaction - in orderly lines and generally flapped around like a mother hen with a new chick! Our visitors were well entertained.
