Aww. It's amazing how their little minds work. Funny too how they sometimes take you literally. When I was teaching my infant class (many moons ago) I told one little boy to 'pull his socks up' & he did.
This is a sticky topic.

How sweet Nana
One of the funniest things I heard, and I heard many in 20 years working in childcare, was from a little boy in reception class when I worked as a classroom assistant.
I had a small group of them in the hall, we were drawing around them on big sheets of paper and they were going to add details to their shape, hair face clothes etc back in the classroom. While I drew around each child, we chatted of course. To one little boy called Tim, I said. 'I've got a cat called Tim' (which I had). Quick as a flash with no pause Tim said. And I've got a cat called Mrs H.....!'. This is one of the funniest things I have ever heard and so quick thinking! I couldn't wait to tell his mum later“A grandchild fills a space in your heart that you never knew was empty.” – Unknown

Gem - how sweet of your GS1, but as you say how was he to know you took all your toys with you when you move house! And Mrs H is a good name for a cat as well as a teacher!
Nana - I can totally relate to that, my GS1 still takes thing very literally (as do most children on the autistic spectrum) but it still catches me unawares at times."Joy is what happens to us when we allow ourselves to recognise how good things really are. "

That is what I always say, you never know how a child is thinking, us adults do , well sometimes....toys are a big thing in a child's life Gem...
DD works in a nursery and one morning one of her girls who was about 3 dad brought her to nursery, he was chatting with DD saying he was really pleased how his DD had settled in and how much his DD liked DD, his little girl looked at him and said "so do you dad, you said you really really like her and she is pretty" DD said he went bright red
Lovely name for a cat Gem..How does a child spell Love..........T.I.M.E

Pearl - you can guarantee children will say it like it is. That poor Dad - it could have been said in all innocence, but when the child tells the teacher is sounds quite different!

I've mentioned elsewhere that GD2 was very reluctant to go down for her nap after lunch. My usual approach is to change the subject if she shays she doesn't want a sleep, go through our usual routine, and before she knows it she's in bed and snuggled down. Today with mum being home and poorly things didn't go well.
GD2: I don't want a nap! (at full volume, with more tears than Niagara Falls)
Me: Sweetheart, if you don't have a nap, how are you going to grow into a big girl?
GD2: Well, that might be rather awkward.

How cute Daisy
This is something which happened some time ago, but which I remembered this week. My grandaughter, aged about 3 at the time said to me one day " Grandma, I wish you had a little girl so I could play with her on Wednesdays ". I pointed out that I had in fact had 3 little girls, who were now all grown up!
I was amused to imagine GDs idea of this little girl who would have lovely Wednesdays, then be put away with toys until the following week“A grandchild fills a space in your heart that you never knew was empty.” – Unknown

Three year old granddaughter was with her other granny. She looked carefully at granny and asked what was on her mouth.
"It's lipstick" said Granny
"What's it for?" asked GD
"To make me look pretty", replied Granny
"Oh", said GD, "do you mean like a ballerina?"
"Yes, I suppose so", said Granny, beaming.
Short thoughtful silence, then
"Or like a shark, grandma?"
