Nana - hahaha! There must come a point in life when children stop saying "I'm nearly X" and cling on to the current age to the last day! I think that's when you know you're a proper grown up!!! GD2 is already talking about her 4th birthday as though it's this week - it's 27 December!!

.... and my grandson wouldn't admit to being four until almost four months after his birthday

Well, GD2 did her best to drop me in it today!

She's not very well (still teething!) and wasn't her usual hungry self. So I persuaded her to have a boiled egg for lunch, putting 2 in the pan in case one split, and thinking if it didn't I'd have one as well. Well there we were, sitting eating our eggs, and I suggested we play the old empty eggshell joke on Daddy - you know, shell upturned in the eggcup ready for him to 'eat'. So it was all set up, on a plate, spoon at the ready. When daddy got home I prompted her to go and give him the egg, knowing he'd play along with the joke.

It rather backfired when GD2 said "Daddy, this egg was for you, but Grandma ate it."

Oops. I hope Daddy wasn't too annoyed with Granny.

              LOL Daisy!

On Monday GS and I were playing in his bedroom. The house is always much colder than ours, and I have never worked out where the heating control is. I opened a fitted cupboard door in GS's room to look in there. As I closed the door and moved away my elbow collided with GS who was right behind me! I felt terrible and gave him a really good cuddle and said sorry of course. He is a very brave little boy and rarely cries. As we were walking downstairs GS said, in a matter of fact voice 'Grandma, I was just going to tell you that was my cupboard, when you hit me in the face!"

We talked about it and agreed it was an accident. He then said " Mummy and I were talking about who was silly and who was sensible, and I said you were sensible. Now I think you are a bit silly!"

              Mortified

Fortunately my elbow left only a small red patch on his cheek, my first worry was that I had hit him in the eye!!

Oh Gem, bless him. I'm sure you will go back to being sensible very soon.

When I was on holiday my daughter had this exchange with my grandson, 4.

When putting GS to bed he asked DD who she thought was the leader of their family- " Guess Mummy, it is someone who you love so much, they are small, their name begins with an 'E', they are a child and they are allowed to make all the rules now!"

You can see the way his mind works!!

Gem E definatley will go far...

My GS G and DD came over yesterday, she was going to come Sunday last but G was poorly so she called it off and said they would come Thursday and wanted one of my dinners, saying she missed them, think she was pulling a fast one... so made a roast dinner, sitting at the table G was on the rug playing with his cars, so we asked him to join us at the table, he said "no", he did not want his dinner, a few minutes later OH said to him come to the table, again NO, so OH asked him why and he said " it will be DISGUSTING"......and wanted cereal.....nice to know my cooking is appreciated... good job I love him, OH and DD were highly amused...
