DD showed me a picture our GS aged 6 drew in class. His teacher told him to draw a picture of himself and the person sitting next to him.
In the picture GS drew himself very tall and his friend much smaller.
DD said it was very good but with the very long legs and very short arms she asked how would he tie his shoe laces.
His reply. " I will wear slip on shoes " ........
A wise old head on young shoulders I think !

Mimi - what a smart little boy! That was a great answer.

GD2 has a cough and cold and today didn't want to do much apart from cuddle up on the sofa. But I put her down for a nap after lunch and she slept for nearly 2 hours. She woke up crying and very cross. She couldn't tell me what the matter was, but it was definitely my fault and she said I had to apologise to her. So I did, and she immediately stopped crying and said 'That's ok grandma' and gave me a big hug!

She must have had a bad dream Daisy! At least once you apologised she forgave you for whatever she dreamt that you did

Last week DD1 had the following conversation with GS1, just 4.

GS: mummy did you know your body is full of pipes!! Real metal pipes!!
DD: really? What are they for?
GS: to take blood all over your body, everywhere!
DD: oh yes! I think they are called veins, i don't think they're metal
GS: (in an indulgent yet slightly exasperated tone) oh Mummy come on! EVERYONE knows they are metal pipes!!

DD thinks he misheard blood vessels as Blood Metals

You can see how the confusion arose, Gem!!! Or he's been watching films about little green robot men from outer space.

Taren is a little fashionata for almost 7,she knows what she likes and what she doesn't. DD was discussing Christmas outfits with her, suggesting that A,B & C were particularly nice.Little miss turned her nose up saying Taren knows what Taren likes, she makes me laugh, little minx.

LG - we've got one of those as well! She knows what she likes, and actually she also knows what suits her. I always leave her to get her own clothes out and she always puts together a well-copordinated outfit. Heaven help us when they're teenagers!!!

My 5yrs+ GS is totally the opposite. He's so packed full of energy that whatever he pulls out of the drawer is ok by him. I had to remind him last time to go back as he'd forgotten to get pants. I wonder if it will change when we have our baby granddaughter.

Six year old GD1 lost a tooth the other day - not her first but still a huge event in her life. She said the tooth fairy would grant her a wish, so she had written a note and wrapped it round the tooth. Her mum, curious, asked what she had wished for. Her wish was for a magic pen that would ensure that any wish she wrote down would be granted. I think she was expecting her message to be circulated to Santa Claus, the Easter Bunny and the magic Genie of the Lamp - just to be on the safe side!!

I don't think the TF replied! But she did get £1 because she had looked after the tooth. The deal is that a well-cared for tooth earns £1 from the TF, but if it's not well looked after it only earns 50p. Her parents didn't factor in the huge quantity of toothpaste and toothbrushes she's now getting through - they could be bankrupt before she loses all her baby teeth.

Oh my goodness Daisy, what a wonderful and imaginative wish - and not one the Tooth Fairy can grant I suspect
