Good morning everyone and Happy Valentine's Day
A nice fine sunny morning here.

I hope the sun reaches you Nan2.

I hope MIL is well( and pleasant) for your visit Oma.

My OH enjoys a tip run Daisy!

I noticed Plant hasn't posted on this thread for a few days, but she has on the Games thread, which is reassuring.

No plans today. DD, SIL3 and little E have plenty of company over the weekend I hope to see them on Monday.
It's just so nice to look out and see sunshine rather than rain and greyness.

Hallo everyone, the sun is out here, lovely on the balcony, freezing at the other side!!!

I have got my washing hung out and it is almost dry.

GD1 came yesterday afternoon, I picked her up at the station and on the way home I said we would go to the sport centre for a drink, the restaurant is really good so we enjoyed that, then I took her upstairs to see where I do the fitness, she remarked on how friendly all the staff were towards me, they are as well!!! We then went to do some shopping as she was cooking lasts night, her parents were going to a concert in Amsterdam. I always do my shopping on my bike so had to ask her which garage we needed to be in for the supermarket.

Gem, maybe Plant is having trouble with her internet again.

I went down to visit the neighbour yesterday, I haven't been with having the flu, she is 85 years old, her nephew has given her a tablet so that she can do games etc on it, she does learn well for her age, really well in fact, only, she did something yesterday, there was a strange noise so she closed it!!! Somehow or other she had switched her wifi off so I got it working again for her. I am so used to an iPad and have to think when it is Android.

Oma, that will be a long wait before the car can be repaired.

Good Valentine's Day morning, everyone. I see the sun has made a special appearance to mark the day.

Nanto, I love that graphic. Thank you. I local friend of mine is from Yorkshire, and she talks about Wombwell. I can see why Oma thinks about the Wombles.

Oma, poor B, he must be really fed up about his car. I do hope it's not months to get the parts. Happy birthday to your DS. Birthdays can easily end up just like other days when you have busy children who need taking here, there and everywhere. Still it's worth it to see them enjoying their various activities. I hope MIL is getting better, and being polite. Hopefully, Storm is feeling a bit better today, but with that, I suppose, he wants to be more active. Yes, I think Eva's leg is improving. When I reread the vet's instructions I feel guilty we haven't done some things, like paddling and swimming, but it's been too wet. I know that sounds silly, but our end of the Forest is all but under water, and you can't tell how deep puddles are, or what lies at the bottom of the flooded areas. She doesn't expect to be let off the lead - it's a bonus when she is allowed though. I let her go at her own pace and stop and sniff for as long as she wants. Well done to GSS1 on his recording session. It sounds very interesting.

Gem, I think my OH has a love/hate relationship with the tip. It's better now - there are new staff there who are much more helpful and pleasant. I hope you can make the most of the sunshine today. It will do you and S good, I'm sure.

Lizzie, what thoughtful GDs you have. It was lovely for her to see round your sports centre and meet some of your friends there. Well done for sorting out your neighbour's tablet. I agree - it's much harder to do anything on Android when you're so used to Macs.

Plant, I hope you're feeling ok, and are enjoying seeing signs of Spring in your garden.

I'm going to enjoy some time in the garden while the sun's shining. It was fantastic this morning to open the curtains and see the sunrise!

          MIL was very chatty today,
We spoke with the ward Sister as she said she hadn't seen a Dr for days,
Turns out the Dr spoke with her yesterday,
They took her to the assessment unit to see if she can cope making a pot of tea and a sandwich etc plus how she's walking ,
          Passed all that,
She's down from 4 litres of oxygen to 2 litres all her bloods etc are good ,
They are only waiting for a social worker to assess her needs at home , as in extra carers then she can go home.
She's not happy with extra carers , but we told her she either agrees or they won't let her out , it's as simple as that.

The Taxi cost £20 there and £20 back, shocking isn't it,
If we had to pay it we wouldn't have gone ,

          Lizzie
Your girls are lovely aren't they ,
Your neighbour will have been glad of your help I'm sure,

Oma, glad you didn't have to pay for the taxi. What is the distance to the hospital.

We had a lovely day in Wombwell. We had glorious sunshine.
I'm sure the sun made everyone more cheerful.

Oma, your MIL is making good progress, as she always seems to do when she is in hospital. It's very hard for visiting carers to give the same level of attention, and even though you and B do such a lot for her, I still think she would be better in a care home. I know you go round in circles with her over this subject, but if she's honest with herself she would agree with you.

Taxis aren't cheap, are they. Thank goodness you didn't have to pay, but it's still a nuisance having to book them and then wait around for them.

Nanto, what lovely weather you had for your trip to Wombwell. Was it a mining town at one time? I've got a friend who, I think, comes from Elsecar and she used to talk about Wombwell.

We had sunshine all day as well, and it was great to get out in the garden. I find I can do more if I rotate jobs, so I did some pruning - a lot of bending down to pick up the prunings - trimmed the edges of the lawn using long handled shears, and sweeping the patio. There's not much to show for the time spent, but I enjoyed doing it and I pulled out a few weeds as I went along. We even sat in the garden with a cup of tea and biscuits in the afternoon. OH reorganised the log store and took a lot of logs into the house. We're ready for cold weather now! Goodness knows when we'll get another day like today. It went very cold about 4 o'clock.

I think the fresh air tired me out, and I'm ready for bed. Night night, everyone.

Good morning. Its the start of a new week.

We haven't got the snow that was forecast for us. Its very cold though.

Daisy, you did well with the gardening yesterday.
Wombwell was a coal ming town. It ws originally classed as a village, buts now known as a town.
Not as many shops as in our town, but it makes a nice change to go there.

                  Morning Nanto, ladies.

                  Nanto
We had a flurry of snow but didn't last more than 5 minutes,
It's only just under 7 miles to the hospital so they are getting paid a good amount for a short distance.

                  Daisy
You did well in the garden ,
As long as you enjoyed it and stopped when your body complained 😁

Trouble is with MIL is she would qualify for sheltered accommodation but at the moment she doesn't meet the requirements for a care home,
She can still wash herself make a sandwich etc and if she would allow carers in 4 times a day all her other needs would be met ,
Unless the hospital or social workers say she can't go home there isn't much we can do.

We are between a rock and a hard place with her,
                  It's his DS2 I feel sorry for ,
She lives down the road and gets phone calls all hours of the night and day demanding she goes to her ,
She screams at her and is pure nasty,
I won't put up with it , if she tries it with me I knock it on the head instantly.

GS is coming at 11 to take us to Aldi ,
I have some ironing to do later but that's about it today.

                    Good Sunday morning, everyone.

Nanto, I suppose Wombwell is like a lot of other villages which depended on the coal mines, and it probably went through a lot of redevelopment to be the attractive town it is now. Keep warm and cosy. If it's the same as here it's pouring with rain and dark and dismal. A good day to stay home and relax.

Oma, your poor Sister-in-Law. It sounds as though your MIL is unreasonable and very hard on her. Is SIL her DD or DIL? It's kind of your GS to take you shopping, and saves you waiting round for taxis. Ironing can always wait!

Gem, I hope you and OH are having a week-end of rest and being kind to yourselves. xxx

I was pleased I got some gardening done yesterday. I only stopped because it went very cold when the sun moved off the garden, otherwise I'd have done another hour or so. The sunshine was such a bonus, but it's hard to believe how nice it was when today is awful. I always seem to be moaning about the weather, but it feels as though it's been a long winter.

No plans for today, but I might do some baking.

Awful weather here too, although I believe it has stopped raining. All quiet here although GD2, her OH and little one are due next door for lunch. I will pop in to see them. GD1 and H have gone to visit a friend. Just had a Grocery delivery from Waitrose and I have booked a delivery from Cook so my fridges and freezers will be full and I don’t feel hungry. I have thoroughly enjoyed the Winter Olympics, the scenery is beautiful.

Oma, what a difficult time for you with car problems. Mil doesn’t help, screaming at her DD. Mil is the most ungrateful person I have ever heard of.

Daisy, I wish I could get into the garden even if it is only to pull one weed. At least I can watch the snowdrops coming through. As soon as it warms up I will spend some time in the sunroom.

Gemini, I have you and your lovely family in my thoughts. What a nice gesture from the school.

                        It's her Daughter,
We have days when she's very pleasant but not many,
If she was like that all the time we would spend more time with her.

She is tiresome but at the end of the day she is B's mother and we have to care for her don't we.

                        Plant
I have been watching the winter olympics on and off,
Lots of horrible injuries isn't there ,
At least you have plenty of shopping in.

GS pushed the trolley around Aldi and helped pack the bags ,
                        He's a good lad 😁
