Oma, pleased to hear the pain wasn’t so bad last night and you were able to get some sleep. Key safe a good idea as long as GS returns the key to the safe after use, fingers crossed.

Gemini, those kitties are a delight, very envious. Did I read you have booked your next years holiday to Canada.

Nanto, haven’t had a pub meal for some time. We have 3 pub/eateries in the village all doing a good trade.

Daisy, so sorry to hear you have a painful knee. I hope Eva enjoys her dog training with lots of lovely new smells.

      Daisy
Be careful walking on uneven ground when you walk Eva ,
Last thing you need is a twisted knee.
We are having chicken casserole tonight , B put it in the slow cooker this morning before he left.

GS has been warned that if he ever has to use the keys again he must get his keys from the house and go put the spare ones back instantly.

B is back , he stayed for lunch then GS had to go to Uni ,

We haven't been out today,or had any visitors.
So i decided to get some christmas presents wrapped and cards written.

Oma, hope GS takes heed and puts the spare ones back straight away.

Gem, how was T? I'm sure he was very pleased to see you. Does he have any family?

Nanto, you are well ahead with Christmas presents and cards, but it's unusual for you to have such a quiet day.

Oma, I can imagine GS won't get a lot of sympathy if he forgets to return the keys to the key safe. But I think it's all part and parcel of going to uni and learning about such mundane but important things. I remember when we were looking after our GSs in June that GS2 was surprised that the dishwasher he'd loaded the previous evening hadn't 'worked'. He didn't know you had to switch it on - he thought it worked "automatically"!!! How has the pain been today? We've had a chicken casserole tonight as well!

Plant, perhaps you should treat yourself to a meal out in the village. I know you've been feeling poorly for a while, but if you're feeling a bit better it would be good to give yourself and perhaps someone in the family, a meal out. Is it board games tomorrow?

Dog training was hilarious today. Eva was all giddy and silly, and kept trying to play the games she wanted instead of what the rest of the class was doing. I don't mind - she goes to enjoy herself, and she certain did that today.

Tomorrow afternoon we are going to see our BIL (he's the widower of OH's sister who passed away in March). He's just been admitted to a hospice after several months in and out of hospital. We are very sad - he's a lovely man, very witty and a great raconteur, but we feel he has probably given up after prolonged battles with deteriorating health, mobility problems and caring for E (his wife) when she was so poorly. This year will not go down as a happy one for us.

It's another sad week for our DIL1 as well. Their dog, Bailey the BC, has had to have surgery today on a large fatty lump which was benign but making it hard for him to walk, and she is going to her uncle's funeral tomorrow - he passed away a few days after her dad.

We are having a power cut!
The kittens having slept for hours after their jabs, are now tearing around the house by candlelight

I will catch up properly tomorrow.

Good evening ladies from my hospital bed! I’m now the proud owner of a new hip! I was first on the list yesterday so I had very little time to panic! They don’t waste any time getting you on your feet these days! I have now progressed from zimmer to crutches, had several walks, gone up and down stairs and am deemed fit to be discharged tomorrow. I’m having a week convalescing before going home.

Oma I pay £28.60 to have my windows in a 3 bed semi washed! Big difference from you!

Have slept most of the day when I haven’t had someone knocking at my door and I still feel tired, so I’m off to bed now. Night night ladies xx

                Good morning everyone.

WeeGranny, wishing you a speedy recovery.

Daisy, your family has had more than their share of sadness this year.
Glad Eva enjoyed her time at dog training, she sounds so happy.

Gem, hope the power cut didn't last too long.

Dinner today is Tomato sausage, mash, veg and gravy.

                  Good morning everyone.

WG, thank you for reporting from the Other Side of your op! They do get us up and moving so quickly after these surgeries. It sounds as though you are doing really well Make the most of your convalescing time!

Nan2, the power cut was less than half an hour, so not too long. OH had just made us a cup of tea by candlelight in a pan on the gas hob, when it all came back on again!

To join in the window cleaning conversation - we pay £10 for a 3 bed semi. In summer months I ask him to do the conservatory too, so pay a few pounds more on those visits.

Oma, how did you sleep? My DD3 is the one in our family who locked herself out a lot. I feel your GS1's parents pain!

Plant, we are going to Canada next June, a belated joint 70th celebration for OH and myself. We booked a while ago.

                  Daisy, so much sadness xxxx

My friend T doesn't look good. Every time I see him he looks older and tinier. It did him good to see me I know and I have said I will visit again next week.
Daisy, T has never married or had a family. I think he has a surviving sister who he rarely sees. The closest to family are friends he has know since childhood days who he thinks of as family. In fact I am sure they are down as next of kin. A couple younger than T but maybe a bit older than I am. They have a grown up DD and 2 GC, all of who are close to T. It's them who he goes to for Christmas and would take him to appointments when he needed help etc.

Little GS3 day today. He is an antidote, along with the kittens, for all the sadness and madness in the world.

                    Morning everyone
                    Daisy
Not a great year for your DIL or for yous , roll on a better 2025❤️
Eva sounds like she had her puppy head on yesterday 😁 nice to see her being silly though isn’t it 🐶

                    Gem
Poor T but at least he has friends who care,
I think once they start to get Ill more and more they seem to shrink in size don’t they .
Its sad to see vibrant people become a shell of their former self.

That was a short power cut wasnt it , better than going on for hours.
I hate when you have to change the clocks after a power cut, not all my clocks have backup batteries.

Wow compared to the dreadful treatment my MIL got your amazing .
I honestly think if we hadn’t fought to get MIL into rehab she still wouldn’t be walking or she would be dead .
I hope your soon pain free and dancing along 😁

                    I didn’t have a great night ,
I tried going to Aldi this morning, got down one isle and B had to bring me home ,
Im not ready for that yet,
My ankles are swollen I’m trying to walk around the house as much as I can and raising my feet .
Going to MIL at lunch time ,
SIL said she was really nasty to her yesterday and to the other sister on Tuesday.
She better not start today I’m in no mood for her carry on’s.

Good Thursday morning, everyone. It's damp and a bit drizzly here.

WeeGranny, I'm so pleased you have come through the op with flying colours. It's very sensible. to have a week of rehab. Apart from anything else, any surgery leaves you feeling worn out and you need plenty of rest as well as the exercise for your brand new hip.

Oma, Oh dear, I thought yesterday that you sounded a bit better, but it was brave of you to try shopping. I do hope MIL realises which way her bread's buttered today, or she may find it smack bang on her face. Take care - don't let her upset you.

Gem, I'm glad the power cut didn't last long. Where in Canada are you going? Enjoy your day with GS3, and the kittens. They sound adorable. I'm sorry poor T doesn't sound very well, but glad he's got such good friends that they are like family to him. He must look forward to your visits as well - you are very good to him. xx

OH has taken my car to be serviced - hopefully he won't be too long as he said he'd wait for it. We'll have to go out about 1 o'clock to visit our BIL. Isn't it hard to know what to take. Last night I decided I'd make him a bara brith so I'm just waiting for it to come out of the oven and then I'll take Eva for a walk.

                      I'll be back later. xx

                        Evening everyone,
                        Daisy
I love Barra Brith , I make one and slice it wrap in grease proof two slices at a time and freeze them,
B isn’t keen so I get some out when I fancy some 😁

MIL was on full form today , no complaints at all.
I was ready for her but she was as nice as pie .

B made her bed put the bin out and offered to hoover for her but she said no she would do a bit at a time later gives her something to do.

I text his sister to tell her , she said the old Bugger she’s nasty to me to wind me up 🤣

Oma, nice bonus for MIL to be pleasant
Keep your feet up as much as you can for your swollen ankles.

Daisy, we are flying to Calvary, seeing Jasper, Bannf etc, 2 days on The Rocky Mountaineer train, flying home from Vancouver. We have never been to that side of Canada. It's only 8 or 9 days, but costing a lot more than we generally spend on a holiday.

I'm at the time of day when a cold makes you feel rotten. It's not been too bad generally, but makes me feel a bit yukk by the end of the day. GS3 gone, OH making tea, so nothing else for me to do today!

Oma, nice to hear of no complaints from MIL.

We had no visitirs today, so we decided to go to B&M,The Range and Home Bargains.
Nothing we particularly wanted, but it got us out for an hour and a browse.
I stocked up on Yorkshire t bags from Home Bargains, thats all.

Gem, what a great holiday, even if it's just 8 or 9 days and expensive. I've been to Vancouver when visiting family in Seattle (it's not far) and it's a lovely city, but the rest of your trip sounds very interesting. My Mum and Auntie did the railway trip many years ago, and said it was amazing. I hope you're treating yourself to hot toddies for your cold, and I bet you're relieved you haven't had to cook tonight.

Oma, your MIL keeps you all on your toes - which MIL will she be today naughty or nice (to quote Santa's elves!) Bara brith never lasts long enough to freeze in our house as both OH and I love it.

My car took longer than expected and it will have to go back for something else next week! I the end I took the bara brith for my BIL and and mixture of different grapes - all well received. It was lovely to see him, and he's comfortable but frail. A lovely lady came in while we were there. She's an artist and sat with him and made cards for his two daughters with messages for them. I'm sure they will treasure them.

Daisy, glad you enjoyed seeing BIL.

Hubby out for a couple of hours this morning. No plans for me.
