It is still quite hot and sunny in this part of the country interspersed with rainy and cloudy spells! Very mixed days, but it still feels like summer here.
Today is cool though, no rain so far but its forecast for most of the day.
Apart from me spending a couple of hours with my mum, it will be an indoor day here too.

Good film Mimi, hope you enjoy it.

We don't expect to see any sunshine today in Cornwall

        Morning all.
Well after a lovely day yesterday it’s pouring with rain now. It was forecast so no great surprise.

At the moment I am standing in the kitchen watching over a pan of boiling sugar and blackberry and apple juice hoping to end up with bramble jelly We picked about 5 pounds of blackberries a few days ago.Using some as the jelly(,not keen on the jam as too pippy !) and frozen a few.

I’m then going for a repeat bout with the hissy thing.
Someone ?Daisy was kind enough to ask about my burn. It’s healing well and at last doesn’t need a dressing.I think I’m going to be left with a lovely pink scar as my freckles in that patch have been taken off.

A few weeks ago we were saying” keep cool”. now it’s “ stay dry” Hope you have a good day anyway.

Update on DD's house on 'Not a Summer's Day' thread! Won't repeat myself on here!

Rain getting heavier, wind getting stronger and cold getting colder......please don't let summer be over yet!

I’ve finally made it to this thread - a bit late in the day!

OH was up at 6 am to go to the Wheels and Wings event, brought me a welcome cup of tea in bed before he left. So I read for a while enjoying the luxury, and the next thing I knew the phone was ringing and it was 10.30!! I felt very guilty that there was a hungry mutt in our house and 3 hungry kitties across the road. Quick round of feeding followed. It was pouring with rain as forecast so I was glad I’d got dog food ready for portioning up. Four hours later I’d just finished giving the kitchen it’s usual anti baccing and realised I hadn’t had lunch or breakfast.

OH came home early - quite a lot of the air display had been cancelled with the lowcloud base and a gusty wind. The journey home had been quite unpleasant with lots of drivers not even having side lights on in heavy rain. I think the friend he went with will be spending tomorrow cleaning and polishing his pride and joy on 4 wheels.

We’ve lit the wood burner tonight. It’s lovely and cosy, but I’d still rather have sunshine.

Clover - I love bramble jelly but have always thought it was difficult to make. Is it? Pleased to hear your burn is healing. I hope today’s encounter with the hot hissy thing was without injury. X

Gem, I hope your mum was ok.

All those yummy Sunday dinners are making me hungry. 😟😟

Daisy I really need to get cracking on my 3 submissions for the yearly Open Art Exhibition. Too many Ideas & not enough enthusiasm I'm afraid.

OH made a delicious Sunday roast. Lucky me👍Later he took the pooch for a walk, said he felt off colour & has been in bed since. Sickness bug, poor bloke.

I've recorded the early Delia Smith's cooking programmes. 1st one on 'spices', 2nd on 'keep water away from veg' 3rd 'introduction to pulses'. Made in 1979 so I suppose spices, garlic etc are quite new in English cooking. One of her lentil dishes looks like cement in the pan.😍😂

Nana - it's great you've got lots of idea for your 3 submissions. Why not start a thread in 'Handmade by you' in the Creative Grannies section? Talking about your ideas might help kick start your mojo. x

I'm shocking Daisy. I keep meaning to write in my diary to update it, but somehow don't seem to get round to doing it.

Good morning Nan2 and everyone else.
Brighter here than yesterday, no sun yet, but no rain either!

We are both free but bank holidays are not the best time to do things . I would go to the cinema but OH isn't keen so we rarely go together.
We are going to look at sofas. I may be getting my heart's desire,a reclining sofa! We would replace the smaller, and badly cat-scratched 2 seater with a 2 seater recliner. The 3 seater will last us a few years more.
                            Have a good day everyone,

Gem I think there is a law somewhere that a bank holiday is the best time to grab yourself a bargain when it comes to sofa buying. 😉 Hope you find yourself a lovely comfy sofa .
