Mimi in our old house the woman next door had 12 cats the smell when she opened her door was awful , if we were sitting n our garden we would go in, it was in a terrace so her back door was right next to our fence ,
We kept our joining fence as high as we could as her garden was like the local tip anything and everything was thrown in there, I did say to her once if we ever get rats it will be your fault and I would take action , she did tidy some away from our fence that time as though if she did have rats they wouldn't venture on the tidy side the silly woman ,
I complained to her landlord but when he called she was always out and when he did catch her in she only opened the door enough to get her nose out but he must have been able to smell the cats .Bring me sunshine in your smile.

Hi everyone.
Glad there is some improvement for B, Oma.
Mimi, that must be awful for you
I had a nice time with my friend. We met at toddler group when our children were tiny, hard to believe we are now both Grandmas
Mum was pleased to see me as she didn't expect me today.“A grandchild fills a space in your heart that you never knew was empty.” – Unknown

Oma we had six cats when we had our house and I would have been horrified if my place stank! Litter tray was in front porch which was quite big and it was one of those covered ones with a little rubber strip door. Was changed at least twice a day. One of my cats did not like have a wee in it and would crouch over an outside drain cover to wee even if it was in the middle of the road! None of my cats did their business in gardens, well not as far as I know, but one was a terrible goldfish thief which could be a tad embarrassing.
Today I drove to Wembley to one of my sites to retrieve some boxes which I used at a careers fair a few weeks ago. On the way we stopped at Ikea. We didn't actually buy anything though (a first). We really wanted to look at a bed chair, curtains and a fold up table. We have a table with space underneath for four fold up chairs but we have had it for sixteen years and fancy a change. The one we have seen will open out bigger but no chairs to go underneath so we have seen some good looking stacking chairs. We will order when we come back from holiday. The bed chair did not match he picture at all so a rethink is required there. Once the bedrooms are finally done we will have plenty of room to out the chairs. I did see some very nice, very trendy dining chairs but we have decided to keep our "distressed" church pew chairs. They need repainting and redistressing but will be cheaper than £110 for two chairs and anyway I like the pew chairs, they are 160 years old and we have had them for 20 years. Other than that nothing jumped out at us. So I will order when we come back from holiday. Oh husband said to have a hot dog. I don't like hot dogs at he best of times but he said we couldn't go to IKEA and not have a hot dog. I wish I hadn't, horrid sticky bread, tasteless hot dog with tough skin, indigestion. Note to self: do not have an IKEA hot dog again EVER.
We went past Dunelm at Greenford but I was in the wrong lane to pull over so I went on the website. We have dandelion wallpaper which is cream background with green bordering gold flowers. Does anyone know if the colours on the web site are faithful to real life? In theory Dunelm is not far but it is in a place which is a pain to get to from where we live.
Tomorrow I am working from home as I am battling against time to get things done before holiday. Wednesday I am also working at home but my sister and h family are being evacuated from Florida (at last) and will be landing around 10am. I was going to be on a telephone conference but I will have to duck out of that. Lots of things going on in my company at the moment so I could do being on the call, I will work something out
Holiday on Thursday which I am looking forward to. I am packed apart from toiletries. Husband (of course) is it packed at all apart from the bits I have done for him (shaving stuff/beach towel/toothbrush/smelliest etc,). That will be a last minute dash as usual.....If you want to go fast go alone, if you want to go far go together

Good morning everyone.
It feels chilly today!
This morning I have a library Friends meeting. These take place in the meeting room of the Costa in our village, so it's only 5 or so minutes walk for me.
Today is the first pick up from school by me for GS1. It is the same building as his preschool, but a different part. We will go back to his house.
Happy gardening Nan2!
Holiday almost here Zizi“A grandchild fills a space in your heart that you never knew was empty.” – Unknown

Good morning everyone. I've finally caught up with all the Chat Box posts - I had no idea what a chatty lot we are!!! thank you for the welcome homes. xx
Today, the sun is shining - well it is at the moment. I'm trying hard not to take it personally after last week.
Gem - I do hope the pick up goes smoothly.
Nanto - I hope it stays fine for your gardening.
Zizi - the colours you see on websites will be accurate at their end, but unless your computer screen is properly calibrated they may or may not be true to colour when you see them. I hope you get through your busy days so you don't have to rush round too much getting ready for Thursday.
After being thrown in at the deep end with childcare yesterday, I've got an unexpected day off today. GD2 has a hospital appointment for an eye check right in the middle of the day. I offered to go over and pick GD1 up from school at 3.30, but DIL has arranged for GD1 to go home with a friend if they're not back from the hospital in time. I picked her up for the first time from Junior school yesterday and she's really loving it. She's very excited about going to her friend's tonight - it's a little boy friend. He's so sweet - he's asked her if they can be boy and girl friends when they are grown up!!
My goodness, you've all had so many ailments/accidents and mishaps while I've been away, but I have noticed a certain increase in mentions of December. Gem - I think you lead the way!!!! But I'm delighted to hear all the talk about spring bulbs and primroses - roll on Spring. Before we went away I top dressed and weeded all my pots of bulbs ready to place round the garden in a few months. I've found this works better than planting in the ground and I can use them to fill the gaps that always seem to appear after the winter.
An exciting day for us today - supermarket shopping! I think I'll have to find something OH can just heat-and-eat while I'm away at the week-end.

PsstI
I have a huge announcement to make, now brace yourselves , this is BIG news
I won the battle with OH . He has given in and finely seen that I am right ( as always ) , he now acknowledges that his old fleece that he wears in the garden , with its bit of paint on the one sleeve and broken zip on the one pocket is totally unsuitable for our short break in York next month. He came to town with me this morning and he brought a new fleece jacket ! Not only that he picked some trousers and walking boots from Cotton Traders which will arrive tomorrow.
Now I fear this may be all too much for me to take on board, I may well have to go and have a lie down in a dark room for a while
Bring me sunshine in your smile.
