Brian loves cheese too Gem , he doesn't have cereal either won't even try anything that looks like milk , He's had a good eating day , had a Sandwich for lunch and I made a home made curry for tea with rice , he's not to keen on rice but ate it and the curry wasn't to hot but spicy so he did get a bit of taste of spices , I may make pancakes later see if he will eat them .He likes them with lemon so might taste the bitterness of the lemon,
My MIL is coming up for 83 and she tires easy too Gem , I bet your Mum loves the blanket older people get so cold in bed don't they .

Oma it must be a problem finding things to tempt Brian. How about good old Lucozade? Know it's basically sugary water but might give him some energy.
Gem I'm glad you're better and your Mum is too.It takes it out of anyone but when you're elderly it can take a bit longer to get back on top of things.

I've had a lovely pre-birthday treat. DD surprised me with a trip to London to see "Matilda" with her and DGD.It's only half an hour on the train from her house so an easy journey though the tube was busy as expected so DGD hung on to me so I didn't get lost! Talk about role reversal. It used to be me holding her hand to keep her safe.
We really enjoyed the show. The children especially were so good AND I had a strawberry ice- cream in the interval. When we got back SIL had a lovely meal waiting for us.What a lucky eh hum girl I am

Clover I bet that ice cream cost an arm and a leg in the theatre! Glad you had a good time, I haven't seen Matilda but a friend's granddaughter was one of the Matilda understudies for a period and got to actually do the role on two consecutive nights when the lead was poorly. All very exciting for the family but unfortunately they were not able to be there except elder sister who was the chaperone.

I saw that there is a Carousel production (singing only I think not the whole story) in London in April and May with Kathryn Jenkins and Alfie Boe. Advert said seats from £14.99. Well I knew it would not be £14.99 but when I went on the web site I was amazed at the prices. The cheaper tickets which were about £50 were almost up in the Gods, you would need binoculars to see anything. The only available good seats were all over £180 each. Now much as I love the musical Carousel, I know all of the words even the pauses and the dialogue, I am not going to pay that kind of money even to see Alfie Boe. It really does put these trips out of the reach of ordinary people. For us it wouldn't be so bad as we can go up to town on the tube but for others it would include an overnight stay which would probably end up costing the same as a seven night holiday in Europe! Having said that I checked holidays recently and can get seven nights in Cyprus including flights for £215 each - I rest my case........

Where has 2016 gone! It seems to have disappeared so quickly, but I think that's how things are when you get older.

We have friends coming round tonight - there will be 7 of us, but i only have to cook a main course. We always look forward to this annual get together, but I must shift some dust before they arrive!

Whatever you are doing - out celebrating, or having a quiet evening at home - enjoy yourselves.

I hope all the poorly people are feeling better to start the New Year with a smile.

                    Love to you all.

Good morning everyone. I hope I find you and your OH's in good health.
Oma , its good to hear that B has been tempted into eating something.
Clover, that birthday treat sounded lovely

Yesterday didn't go quite as planned. We were supposed to have all the family up but DS couldn't make it as he was unwell. He has been struggling with asthma all over the Christmas . He had to see the Dr in the week and he has put him on a short course of steroids, hopefully that will sort it out for him.

What are your plans for New Year celebrations ?
This year we are staying at home, just me OH and the cat !
To all of those who are partying tonight have a lovely time.
Bring me sunshine in your smile.

Mimi, I hope your son soon feels better.
We have been over to DD3s ( they are in Scotland for New Year ) to play with their cat and keep her company for a bit. And change the litter, the less fun part

The house is all ready for our guests, due at 7.
I will just pop over to The Grannys Rest to make sure all is ready there too. Do call in if you can!

Thank you for asking Oma,hubby is much better, just the sniffles now.I think we should have shares in Kleenex . My decs are coming down tomorrow, can't say I will be sad as they are such dust collectors. I am going to Home Bargain tomorrow to buy lots of storage boxes, I feel the need to de clutter. The charity shop will do well, lots of silly nick nacks I have kept for years but do not have on show. I know I shall have a memory with every item, but silly to keep stuff that just lives in a cupboard.

I have reduced my tree decs. as I only have a very small white branch tree my surplus went to the charity shop and I bought a large lidded box last year which goes in the loft, not yet though.
