Very pretty Oma. This is our egg safe. We have had it for over twenty years and it has been various colours. This is the "distressed blue" we did a few years ago. We were going to paint it crackly stripey dark grey after the kitchen installation which would have gone with the floor but now the floor is being replaced we will wait to decide what colour it should be. Before we had this we had a big fat China chicken but I went off that when I saw the safe in a warehouse we were visiting for Window dressing props for the shop we used to have.

This morning at 4.30am there was the most enormous clap of thunder which made me fall out of bed! I hurt my shoulder and it was painful for a while but has gone off now. I decided I should get up. I was in the office in Euston by 7.45am. Left there at 12.00 noon. On the tube coming back to Heathrow was a couple who really, really needed to get a room. Hands on all body bits. I ahemmed a couple of times and a couple of people tutted loudly but they didn't take any notice. To make matters worse we got stuck in a tunnel for ten minutes and the engines weren't running so you could hear it all, was just like a porn movie .... Well what I think a porn movie would be like as I have never actually watched one. (Why does autocorrect turn the word porn into the word princess? Odd).

Mimi, you can request a smear test, even when you are past the cut off age.
The fish and chips were lovely Mimi.
Went round to see mam this afternoon to make sure she was OK,because I wanted to go and see my friend whose having the cancer treatment.
Friend is doing really well. her hair is growing back now.
Mam has perked up quite a bit, so that's good. Rang her about 5ish, and she was having a cup of tea and a sandwich.
We are planning on going to Sheffield shopping tomorrow, so we will call in and make sure she is OK,before we go.
Mimi, hope your OH is feeling better.

Nan2, it helps if your mam is feeling better, it takes a bit of the strain off doesn't it. I used to feel I could handle anything life would throw at me when I looked after my dad, as long as he was cheerful we could cope.
            Good news about your friend.
Nan2 I know I can request a smear but I know what I am like, if it's not offered I'm not going to ask. After all it's not the most pleasant way to spend 10 mins or so is it ? I will nag my DD and DIL to make sure they attend their smears but as for me .....?
Bring me sunshine in your smile.

              Good morning ladies.
Please nag your DD and DIL to have their smear tests.
In my opinion, I think the age for smear tests should be lowered. I have read so many stories about young girls knowing something was wrong, but they have been denied smears, because doctors have said they are too young to have cervical cancer. A lot of young girls have then gone on to lose their lives.
Our eldest granddaughter is 22 at the end of this month, and I worry because it will be another 3 years before she starts having the tests, and as you said earlier a lot can change in 3 years.
I had my mammogram last month (all is well), and in our area they have lowered the age for these to 45 and extended it to 75.

Good morning all. Nice and sunny here at the moment, it certainly feels a lot fresher after the awful storm two nights ago. Big day today for DGS as he is off to university. We popped in to see him yesterday, he is understandably a bit nervous but looking forward to it too. It only seems like yesterday that he was a toddler, can't believe it. DD is sending him off well stocked with provisions, household stuff etc, but will he really use it all, we shall see. She will be a bit emotional when she gets home tonight. Off to my family history group this morning, always a good meeting and we will have lots to talk about after the summer break. Have a good day ladies

                  Good Saturday morning everyone.

Enfys - good luck to your GS - I'm sure he will be fine, but I know you can't help worrying. I'm sure he will look after himself. x

We're off to pick up OH's new car this morning (new to use, not brand new!). Yesterday I noticed blight was starting to claim the tomatoes, so we stripped all the plants and ended up making 19 jars of chutney! It took all day, apart from an hour's run for Eva, and this morning my legs ache from all the standing!

                  Have a good day everyone.

                      Good morning everyone.

Enfys, my mum always sent my DD off to uni with a food parcel I was very emotional when DDs 1 and 3 went off to uni, I can understand how your DD feels. End of an era ( until you realise just how long their holidays are

You will be very busy with all those tomatoes Daisy! I think OH will be doing the same soon.

I hope Plant is doing OK today and not in too much pain.

This morning OH is going to cut the lawn of a friend who is on holiday for 3 weeks. My auntie lives in the next street, so we will drop in to see her too.
Out for a meal then to see JB Priestleys When We Married at the theatre tonight.

I have a lady coming in from a support team to help me wash and dress me again. I can manage my breakfast but she leaves me with a filled kettle, tops loosened etc. I am not going to have the repair done privately now, the doctor I wanted to operate thinks it will be quicker to go down the NH route as his private list is full but he wants to see me, so appt booked for next Friday. VERY BORED, although I watched Andy Murray play tennis yesterday in the Davis cup and also the Olympics, they are so inspiring and I am complaining I have a broken wrist.

Love your egg cupboards Oma and Zizi

Large bag of pasta, baked beans, tinned tomatoes, sauces are some of the food students use and of course money. My granddaughter who is still a student has a Waitrose near her so she got a my Waitrose card and goes in for a free coffee.

                        Tomato chutney sounds good Daisy.

Enjoy the play Gemini, you love the theatre

Afternoon ladies , had a good morning , first went to butchers 20 miles away to get meat for freezer , bought a nice bit of Brisket for tomorrow's lunch , not a big red meat lover but I do like a little Brisket cooked slowly , was going to buy some Rabbit but it was frozen and we were not going straight home so will get it next time .
We then went to Brians brothers had coffee and helped him and his girlfriend choose wallpaper for lounge front wall , looked at loads then all decided on one we all liked only then to realise why we liked it so much , it was the same paper they had on one wall of the dining room 😀😀,😀 came home to a message from Josh to say he had scored a hat trick in football match this morning and they had won 5-3 , so that's cost Granddad £20 as he said if Josh scored a hat trick that's what he would give him 😊

So did a quick Tesco shop this morning early, went to get bread, went to butchers during the week so do not need to go today. Took beef out of freezer for tomorrow, took all the meat off the car as of the chicken ready for casserole later. Tuesday we are going to the spa hotel at Hogs Back for two nights.

I have just taken delivery of a Marisota order. Pair of pewter and black flats, pair of flat sandals, floaty pjs and a chemise, a striped long blouse, a Joe Brown scrappy top, Joe Brown swimming costume, couple of cardigans, and a really lovely knitted knee length jacket which is ivory with jewelled embellishments on it. I am returning an ivory and blue skirt which I bought in two sizes and I swear that the larger size is the same as the smaller size, shame as it is a beautiful skirt, a nude and navy lace maxi skirt which does me no favours around the tummy and bottom area, two short sleeved plain jumpers which are not long enough, I like them to cover my bottom and a pair of flat nude colour shoes which bizarrely are too large even though they are the same make, size and fit as the other flats!! I know I am extravagant but I don't care, I shall be turfing out some of my old stuff and taking it to the charity shop next weekend.
