LG - Soggy is the right word - our garden is partially under water! Once the ground gets saturated it seems to take ages to drain. By the way, there seem to be a worrying number of cases of Alabama Rot at the moment. It's a bit worrying.

(Just in case anybody's wondering - Alabama Rot is a horrible disease dogs seem to pick up in certain areas of the country - the hotspot being around LG's and my areas. It's not known for sure what causes it but is more prevalent between October and May, and my theory is that it's related to stagnant and standing water, which is quite hard to avoid round here in the winter.)

Alabama rot is worrying Daisy as wherever you go here, its mud, mud and more mud and manky big puddles. And Shiloh being a springer as you know they are mud magnets. I can't stop him slurping it either. But always ensure his feet are thoroughly cleaned and dried after a walk.

LG - we always wash Eva's feet and legs as well - and her face if she's been poking about in vegetation. I was shocked at how much flooding there is on the Forest today. Especially since January has been relatively dry.

We had a lovely lunch out, with lots of laughs. The birthday girl enjoyed herself and was very touched that we took a birthday cake,
It brightened up here too, but the river is very high.

Gem - glad you had a lovely lunch - and you can't have a birthday without birthday cake - it's compulsory!

                  Good morning all.
                  It's not raining!

The first 'normal ' Thursday for me since my op four weeks ago. Now I can drive I can pick mum up and we can go for coffee and shop this afternoon while OH is at Thursday golf. DD1 took mum a large box of diet coke the other day, which is the heaviest thing there is on mums list.

                  Have a good day everyone.

Good Thursday morning everyone. Yes, it's wet and very soggy here! For goodness' sake, it's February - shouldn't the weather be getting better!

Nanto - Alabama Rot can crop up anywhere in the country, but down here in the New Forest and parts of Dorset it's sadly much more common. I noticed a local vet is advising washing paws, legs, tummy and face after a walk. It's usually fatal - it causes skin lesions and then very quickly progresses to kidney failure. there's no effective treatment and we still don't know what causes it.

I'm out for lunch with friends today - I might well have to swim there, it's so wet!

I wonder if Clover is still basking in sunshine?

I've noticed my crocus bulbs are almost ready to bloom....Spring is just around the corner.

Daisy I'm afraid we've joined everyone else with very heavy showers. The barometer is showing ridiculously low pressure so I'm not expecting anything much better.
I'll warn my DD about the Alabama Rot. It sounds frightening.
Mimi here in the South West we've beaten you with crocuses in bloom. Also spotted daffs in flower though not in my garden yet but one or two nearly in bud.

Clover, because it was so mild last winter all my daffodils were in full bloom at Christmas and by February they were all past their best. At the moment they are a long way off flowering yet .

The weakest sun is trying to break through the gloom here, totally fed up with wading through ankle deep mud and slush on our walks. Did not enjoy our walk for 2 reasons A) the mud, B) Shiloh played the teenager this morning and was a little b****r. There is an enclosed generator on the heath and he went under the gate, never tried before, but then the dumbo couldn't crawl back out. Fortunately there was a guy working there and he opened the gate to let him out grrrrrrrrr naughty dog. He then stole another dogs ball which he refused to give up even though I tried to trade with his own ball. As good as he can be trying to get a firm drop is proving difficult, so after showing me up he is in my bad books today. Off to do school run in a while, please let the rain stay away.
