DS was born in September 76. A very long hot summer for me. We were living in a flat over a shop in blackheath. I used to have an afternoon nap with DD1 and then we would go to Greenwich park in the evening. The grass was burned to a frazzle. I remember hearing cheering from the street and found that people were celebrating the first rainfall after such a long dry spell.

Good morning everyone, welcome home Nana

Shem, it must have been awful being pregnant throughout that hot summer! DD2 was born in July '78. That seemed bad enough, but nowhere near as hot as '76. Plus we were living back in the cooler North by then

Off to see mum this afternoon, while OH plays golf.

My DD and Niece were 3 in 1976 I remember them almost living in the paddling pool in the garden , my sister and I rigged a sort of canopy over it with some tent poles and a sheet for shade , some days it was too hot to do anything , when we did get rain the children ran around in it , happy days when our children were babies

I spent the summer 1976 pregnant. DD born in December! I remember sitting in the sea at Beer in a bikini with my bump on show. The doctor remarked on my 'brown tummy' when I went for an ante natal appointment. It wasn't the done thing in those days to expose your bump, unlike now!

It wasn't was it WG, we wore big dresses, or smock type tops with maternity trousers! You were brave, but sensible

Have had a lovely break visiting DS in Slovakia and also a few days in Salzburg. Weather was beautiful, have eaten far too many cakes and ice creams.....and possibly drunk too much wine, but it was most enjoyable! Don't much like this cold weather we've come back to though!

Afternoon all,a fairly lazy day for us. I walked the dog and then we went out for a lovely roast dinner. We both had a Granny nap after being overindulgent with the food. I awoke to be told by hubby that eldest DD has had an offer made on her house,so she can now proceed with the house they want. Fingers crossed they get it. It is nearer the grammar school where both girls attend. I have no work until 3rd May and can say I am counting down to October, can't wait to finish for good.
