Good morning, Mimi and everyone. A lovely cheerful graphic for a dull day. It's not actually raining here but so windy I've just had to retrieve our glass recycling box from blowing round the garden!

Nanto isn't having a lie in - she couldn't log in this morning, so hopefully she'll be around later.

I've got to have a catch up with all the boring washing and housework today! I don't know where last week went to. I hope everyone else has something more interesting/exciting to enjoy today.

Oh my goodness how was I going to explain that to my IT department??? How was I going to work?? Well luckily I do have a lot of my stuff on sticks as I don't trust our back up system for various reasons and I made the decision not to close it down reasoning that the acetate would dry very quickly unlike if I had spilt coke or something on it. So I left it on - it did go to sleep - and this morning all appears to be well except the capital letter light will not go on. PHEW dodged a bullet there I think.
ZIZI, I stopped using liquid nail polish remover when the granddaughters started growing up. I buy the pads now.

My friends daughter once poured some nail polish remover down the loo (no idea why) but it took the enamel off, and they ended up getting a new one.

Nan2 I've never used the nail polish removal pads, do they have the same ' smell ' as the ordinary polish removal? If not I would consider using them as I hate the smell of the liquid removal.

            Good morning eveyone.

It's a bit dull and drizzly here.
We have a few of those boring household chores today, and our invited to friends for a meal tonight. She loves to cook curries. I hope I have finally convinced her that my digestive system cannot tolerate even the tiniest amount of chilli these days. I once even took my own food to a meal they hosted, as her mild is not my bodies mild!

I hope your sofa arrives Mimi!

Oma it is time you slowed down, as Daisy says you do more in an hour than I do in a week!! I cannot use the spongy thing or wipes as I put a strong acrylic top coat on and you have to soak the nail for a while to remove it. The sponges and wipes do not touch it. I use a gel polish remover usually but luckily I wasn't using it Thursday as I don't think the outcome would have been the same!

I actually went to Tesco this morning. I was on the way to the bakers and greengrocers but there are roads up everywhere and after sitting in the traffic for fifteen minutes and only moving about six car lengths I decided to detour to Tesco. Husband is at work and will be home in a couple of hours. Tomorrow we are going out for lunch to the ex-toilet where we had my birthday lunch. We will go by bus so I can have some wine. It is very windy here today the planes must be landing sideways EEK I hope it settles down tomorrow as I have to get over the two rivers via the bridges to meet husband and it is gusty there at the best of times, I will get blown in to swim with the swans............

I'm a slave to the kitchen today, got Matt & Jay coming for dinner this evening. Dragged hubs to Sainsbury before the crowds got there, picked up what was needed and home. Made chicken liver pate for starters, we are having braised lamb shanks in red wine and for pud I have made Paris Brest, very rich but looks yummy. Very wet and blustery today so probably better off in doors.

Lg - that does sound yummy! Zizi - take care tomorrow driving over those bridges.

Mini - I'm sure your cat will LOVE your new sofa.. I'm glad it's finally arrived.

I've made some progress with the housework and washing. The fourth load is in the machine right now, and the first three loads have added to the pile of ironing. There really is no incentive to do the washing when it just creates more ironing. I've cleaned the living room and hall, and filled two of those sucky uppy things with dog hair and dust. What dog in it's right mind would moult while it's still mid-winter! Quick wizz round the kitchen then upstairs, then cook dinner, then feet up and flake out!

Daisy these are not road bridges these are walking over bridges. There are two ancient man made rivers they go over (note NOT canals). They are very exposed to the elements and very badly lit if it is night which is why I will not go out to events on my own in the evenings using public transport. The rivers are a wonderful haven for wildlife and one serves Hampton Court Palace and the other Syon Park Estate which is the London gaff of the Duke of Northumberland. I say serve, what I mean is used to serve as the source of water, obviously now they have mains water.

When Heathrow Terminal 5 was built the rivers had to be re-routed and there was an awful lot of time and trouble taken to maintain the ecology and not harm the wild life. I think they did it very well.

Zizi - LOL, I didn't realise they were foot bridges! It sounds as though it could be an interesting route on a nice sunny day in spring! Tomorrow isn't going to be one of those days. I hope it's not as windy as we're all expecting.
